WIW: To get out of bed

Sorry I've been MIA for the past few days - been sick as a dog with a sinus infection that came with quite the nasty fever. On antibiotics now and returning to work after being home in bed for the last two days.

We got an other big dump of snow (will it ever end?) so today's outfit actually revolved around footwear. I wanted to wear my Blondo boots because they are warm, have great grip and are comfortable to wear all day inside. With the boots, I've added my trusty black sheath dress and over top of that, an old but much loved silk-blend multi-coloured cardigan. I popped on a skinny belt over top so I wouldn't lose my waist and added my black/white leather handbag.

This is a simple outfit but it's comfortable and hopefully not too boring. Any and all suggestions/comments welcome.

Sweater: Nygard
Dress: Banana Republic
Tights: Hue
Boots: Blondo
Handbag: Danier Leather (thrifted)

    ...more snow here too, sigh.

Good to see you again, Shannon. Hope you feel better soon. I love the skinny belt on sweater and those boots look so comfy. i have a question, though. Do you wear these outside too or do you take another pair of snow boots to wear outside? I am asking this because i always carry my good boots in a bag with me and wear my regular snow boots while driving.

Oh, I hope you feel better now, Shannon. There's no trace of you being sick in this inspired outfit. How do you manage? On days like those, I'm only capable of finding my jeans, a sweater and a scarf. I like your sweater so much! The snow is receding here, but we are not safe yet.

Hi Shannon, I hope things will get to their best soon. Plenty of warm fluids, etc ;-)

Fab outfits that work can not be boring. I love this one, it has the right pieces that suit you so well. Btw, can you please look the other way so I can steel those gorgeous boots?

I had wondered where you were Shannon. I sympathise about the sinus infection; I had the mother of all infections a few years ago and I know how debilitating they can be, I'm glad you are on the mend now and in such a stylish way! I like how your bag picks up on the light tones in your cardigan. You seem to have the proportions working well with the dress underneath. YLF.

I think you look great! I really love that sweater.

I love the outfit Shannon. That sweater is very pretty on you.

On the plus side, it isn't as cold as it was in January. At least we can go outside without fear of frostbite.

  • Jaime replied 11 years ago

I missed you Shannon! That top looks particularly good on you and you don't look like you have been sick at all. Feel better and keep warm!

There's been a lot of illness going around lately. I am so glad you are feeling better. I love this sweater! You may not feel 100% but you certainly look 100% yourself. We just got a boat load of snow and I am asking myself the same question. When will it end???

Sorry to hear you've been so sick. Those sinus problems can be really nasty. Hope you are soon feeling as good as you look. This is another great outfit.

  • Raisin replied 11 years ago

Hope you feel better. You look great! Very classy look.

Shannon, sweetie - you look amazing. I am so sorry you have been sick, and hope you feel better soon. I always find this last month of winter the absolute toughest. Yuck. But we'll pull through.

  • ruthe replied 11 years ago

I knew something was wrong! Your daily, morning outfits are among the first things I look at each day. Yesterday, I remarked to myself, "Self, wonder where TS is?" Glad you are better and now my day has started right :) You look so nice.

  • MNsara replied 11 years ago

Glad to hear you are on the mend! You're looking great in today's outfit, and I appreciate hearing how you based it on your footwear needs :-) It turned out stylish and sophisticated!

  • catgirl replied 11 years ago

Aw, Shannon! Sorry you've been sick - we've all been ailing too this week. I am loving that cardi on you and for some reason it reminds me of a dress you have... or do you have something else in a similar color/pattern? They are definitely your colors!

  • Transcona Shannon replied 11 years ago

Mona - normally I wear my actual winter boots outside and then change my footwear when I get into the office. But these Blondo boots I wear for the whole day. It amazes me how they keep my feet warm outside but not too warm inside.

Dianthus - you are so right! It is still better than -40!

    Ruthe - you're so sweet :)

Una - I'm thinking this cardi is a bit reminiscent of my Attitude by Jay Manuel wrap dress - it has an abstract pattern with white, purple, and blue.

Thank you all for your lovely comments - they will boost me through the end of the day when I drop into bed.

Shannon, I hope you are well on your way to recovery. I have missed your WIWs! I love that cardigan, such a great print, and it looks very fresh, buttoned up. Must try that! Paired with the dress and boots, a perfectly composed outfit.

Out of bed with pizzaz, no less. I really like the cardigan. The colors and pattern are so soft yet strong at the same time. I hope you are feeling better!

  • rae replied 11 years ago

Oof, how I loathe sinus infections! Glad you are feeling better - you are looking great!

  • jayne replied 11 years ago

Get well soon, thank goodness for real medicine! And I love that cardi even more on this post. It is a true friend!

  • Beth Ann replied 11 years ago

Ugh. Sounds like a rough couple of days. Not to worry! You've still got your fabness --- and those boots are to die for!

  • biscuitsmom replied 11 years ago

Sorry you're not feeling well, but you look fabulous! Love it.....

  • Thistle replied 11 years ago

You look great! I hope you feel better soon!

  • Tina replied 11 years ago

Shannon, you are amazing! You are not only out of bed, you are dressed and looking fab.
Winter has been pretty mild up here in northern Alberta for the past 3 weeks or so. We started the 3rd week in October and the snow AND cold did not really let up until just recently. But... spring is coming:-)
Another chronic sinus sufferer here, hope the antibiotics do the trick. It is brutal I know.

  • replied 11 years ago

I love it Shannon. I am not sure how you guys do it, I look sick even when I'm not :(

  • Transcona Shannon replied 11 years ago

Well I don't know what y'all are looking at 'cause I think I look pale and rather blah today! But you've sure made me feel better :)

  • unfrumped replied 11 years ago

Wow--great style even when just on the mend! I hadn't seen that top before and I love the print and colors.

  • JulieJohn replied 11 years ago

You look lovely. I really like this combination, not boring at all. Feel all better soon! I just got over what sounds like the same thing, could it have traveled so far so fast?

  • Marley replied 11 years ago

Great Fall-Back outfit - for when you have to drag yourself out of bed and go to work! The sweater is lovely on you - and belting it takes it from "bleh" to "stylish!" Hope you start feeling better!

  • Joy replied 11 years ago

We've been deprived of your beautiful smile. Nothing boring here. The cardigan is a wonderful topper for the black sheath. I hope you got through your day feeling better. Sinus infections are awful.

  • Deborah replied 11 years ago

I noticed you hadn't posted... thought you might have run out of clothes... just kidding :)

So sorry you haven't been well. Sinus is the worst. Well you look fabulous. This outfit makes my heart sing. It is simple, great clean lines, elegant and oh so chic.

  • Elizabeth P replied 11 years ago
