WIW: Tipped Sweater, Jeans, Blue Booties & Quilted Jacket

Happy Friday my lovelies!

I have a confession. When things didn't work out so well with the Silver jeans I had bought, I promptly went to Winner's and bought a replacement pair and didn't post a K/R. This was just before I went on SYB so I'm safe there. These are Suko, not the best brand by any means, but the fit was really good, they were $16 and they will work until I find my "perfect" pair. These border on being improper PPL but they are better IRL then they show in pics - they are about 1/4 - 1/2 inch off the floor.

I've paired the jeans with a dark purple tank and my Halogen tipped fuschia/purple cardigan. I've popped on a wide black woven leather and studded belt with a big buckle. On my feet I've got my purple booties. For accessories I have my Christopher Kon leather handbag and a bit of arm candy in the way of a silver bangle and watch. On top of all that when I head out the door, I'm wearing my quilted short jacket.

What do you think? Does this all work? Proportions ok? As always, all comments/suggestions welcome.

Jacket: Peter Nygard
Sweater: Halogen
Tank: Gap
Jeans: Suko
Booties: Aerosole
Belt: thrifted
Handbag: Christopher Kon (thrifted)

Those booties are so fab! This is what separates you from the pack Shannon, mixing all of the lovely purple hues together without fear. Plus you are creative enough to think to do it in the first place. I LOVE the blazer and the jeans look really nice. Way nicer than you make them sound. This look is polished perfection baby! You look amazing. ;)

Oh, I like the Sukos they fit you so well, I was just wondering if I have ever seen them before! Love all your colours here...and...I WANT THOSE BOOTIES (they woul go soooo welll with my new knitted M&S dress-see my post from today:-))

Another great outfit. I would not have put the sweater and booties together, but they work so well. Glad you got some jeans that you like.

Those jeans are incredible and those boots are to die for.

This looks fantabulous, Shannon! It is so refreshing to see a bootcut now and then! I love the sweater with this. Wearing it open this way with that belt takes all the "prim" right out of it.

Have we seen that quilted jacket before, Shannon? Wow. KILLER.

Another 11 out of 10 look.

What is Winners - like a discount store?

  • Suz replied 11 years ago

Winners is our TJ Maxx, Angie. Not as good, as a rule, but you CAN at times find great things. I got my new Vince Camuto peacoat at my local Winners. In Toronto you can sometimes pick up Theory stuff there.

Winners is the Canadian version of TJ Maxx - so they do carry some better lines like Calvin Klein, Tahari, Vince Camuto, Fossil, etc. but at discounted prices. In fact this year I'm noticing some of the items worn by the U.S.A. YLFers at Winners - for example the DV Joust booties.

You probably haven't seen the quilted jacket before since I just decided this fall to add pics of my outer wear, but it's at least three years old. It's a real workhorse in the fall and spring for me.

    Ah! Thanks S & S :)

I just love that jacket, Shannon.

I like these jeans, Shannon. I call these types of garments "place holders," since I purchase them to fill a gap until the perfect comes along. The halogen cardi is really terrific -- wonderful in color and details. You look great.

Thanks for the jacket love Angie :)

Thanks for your comments ladies. I think (hope) I'm finally getting a handle on casual wear. I've worked full time in the administrative/corporate environment for 25 years so my workwear has always been the strongest/most predominant part of my wardrobe. But I'm wanting to expand and get a better grip on my casual wear, especially now that we can wear denim to work on Fridays.

That's a great outfit Shannon! I actually tried on those booties at Winners yesterday. Unfortunately, the gap is just too big on me. I love them on you, though. Winner's is actually owned by the same company as TJ Maxx. We have a really high end one in town that carries the normal things, plus names like Prada, Nanette Lepore, etc. People are dressed noticeably better in that one. ;-) lol

Great outfit! Love that jacket! Looks like it would go with everything.

I've been eyeing the tipped cardigans/blazers but wasn't sure how they would work. I LOVE this look on you and how great the booties look with this cardigan. You've inspired me :)

  • moira replied 11 years ago

I would never have picked up that sweater because on the hanger it would look so "ladies who lunch". It sure doesn't look that way on you.

  • JulieJohn replied 11 years ago

Ditto what Moira said. You rock, sister! Gorgeous colors.

Shannon you deserve an honorary degree in shop your closet. Love the whole thing!
