WIW: Thrift Week Day 3

Grrrr….I hope I get this camera thing figured out…all my settings are correct but suddenly I'm getting in too much light and it's all grainy. Sorry 'bout that.

Today's thrift offering is this cobalt/black/white scarf. I've not been a big scarf wearer in the past but I find myself drawn to them these days and have picked up a couple. I'm working on figuring out different and interesting ways to tie them - I hope this style looks ok.

I've chosen to wear the scarf with my blue EF linen hi-lo short sleeve top (with black tank underneath for modesty) and my EF ankle length black pants. I'm working at our staff picnic today so need to be comfortable, cool but not exposed to sunburn, and wear washable items.

Speaking of comfort, I've chosen my black Naot cross strap shoes for my feet. I've got custom orthotics being made as my PF has become unbearable and apparently I've got tiny tears in the fascia in my left foot so proper alignment is a must. I can hardly wait until they arrive although I suspect it will mean some shoes will no longer work for me and I can see some shoe shopping on the horizon.

I finished off the outfit with my cobalt/cream/black handbag (to echo the colours in the scarf), red specs, red lip and chrome watch/silver wedding band.

Thoughts on this outfit? Does the scarf look "natural" on me or do I look like I'm trying too hard? As always, all comments/suggestions welcome.

It's so hard to look easy with a scarf on a short sleeve for me, too-but you look confident and natural in these picties! How did it serve you in motion and  by the end of the day? It's a great color coordinated outfit love the bag, too!

I think the outfit looks great on you.  I think the scarf works fine, but I am not an experienced scarf wearer.  I tried something similar a couple of days ago and wondered if it looked "natural" as well and look forward to others' responses.  I would consider the material that the scarf is made from and how it worked over the course of your day.

Great top, and pants. Sorry for this, but I think the scarf looks too heavy. I feel its too wintery, for the short sleeves and lightness of the tee. A summer scarf should be light, airy, and thin. Maybe it looks lighter in life.

Well ladies - you are all very wise 'cause I didn't leave the house in this! Although the scarf is extremely light (it's quite gauze-y), I didn't feel like it worked with the top in the end. I love summer scarves with either sleeveless tanks or full sleeves. That "in between" thing just doesn't look right to me. So in fact I changed into a drape cobalt and black sleeveless tank and an older black linen EF short cardigan. Much better! Will try to get a picture later if possible.

I don't mind the scarf here - I just would secure it "infinity-fashion" so that the end isn't hanging down. I find it quite pretty with that top - which itself is a beautiful colour.

I think the scarf looks fine and you have an interesting tie.  However, in the summer I usually tie mine in looser styles.  This tie looks too cozy for summer.  Maybe an infinity style, like lisap suggests or something else simple and loose.

Sorry to hear about your foot problems.  I hope the orthodics work for you although it be sad if they don't work with your shoes.

That scarf was a wonderful find. When you use it with the bag that you have here, they will make any outfit look cohesive. I like the outfit very much, even the scarf with short sleeves. The scarf looks like it is of a light fabric.

Lovely color coordinated look. Love the scarf and I think it looks great with your shirt and bag together.
