WIW: Spring Scarf

My Mom was recently on a trip to London, England and while there, picked up this beautiful scarf from Selfridges and had it sent back to me. It is a gorgeous light weight green and white leaf print - you don't even feel it on your neck it's so gauzy and light. On the card she said she knows scarves aren't really my thing but this one reminded her of my beautiful garden :)

So today's outfit was centred around this pretty scarf. I chose my dark olive cargo pants and paired them with my simple white tee. I really like the shape and fit of this tee when untucked. I then popped on the scarf and topped everything with my light cream leather jacket.

For footwear I chose my sand coloured wedge Toms and then to pull a bit of that colour into the outfit, grabbed my taupe/sand/olive/cream snakeskin handbag (waving to handbag twin MsMary!).

Red specs, swipe of lighter red lipstick and silver wedding band round this out.

What do you think? Does this all work together? Should I have just gone with my large cream handbag or white clutch instead? As always, all comments/suggestions welcome.

Jacket: Danier Leather
Tee: Joe Fresh
Pants: Ricki's
Booties: Toms
Handbag: Elliott Lucca
Scarf: gift

I think you chose the right handbag. That is a lovely scarf and it looks great on you! I really like it with your red specs and sassy do!

I agree that this animal print bag was the right touch, Shannon (but of course your cream handbag or white clutch will work too - it's always fun to have options, right;-).
Such a lovely scarf (how sweet of your Mum!), and it feels extra Spring-like paired with the white tee and leather jacket.

Beautiful, with this or the other bag, too. Would only suggest to wrap the scarf half under and half on the collar of the jacket-or just pull some of it outside the collar. I often do this. I  find it more pleasing to the eyes as more fluffy/voluminous, perhaps balancing better with my frame.

It look great to my eye Shannon.  I may be wrong, but thought you had a mid-range olive green jacket too.  I can see that as an alternate to the topper to make another similar outfit for spring.

I was reading the post and may be inspired to put together a similar outfit today with my dark olive pants and a leather jacket.

That gorgeous scarf is the embodiment of spring green (a beautiful color for gardeners)! Your fresh white tee and jacket set it off well, and the print in your bag echoes the fact that the scarf is also a print, albeit a different pattern and color.

You look great! Love the colour combination.

What a beautiful scarf, Shannon, and a perfect outfit to showcase it. The bag was a perfect touch.

I was not quite onboard with the boots till you added the bag. Which I am now looking up online :-)
Something about the wilder snake print pulled it all together. Love it.

Glad to hear the handbag was not off for this outfit - it does help to balance the boots doesn't it Olivegreen?

lyn67 - YES! Thank you for the suggestion re: the styling of the scarf. I knew something was slightly off so I appreciate that. Am fixing at work as we speak...

Dianthus - I used to have a military-esque olive green jacket but no longer. Hmmmm....maybe I need to go thrifting again...

Thanks all - I do feel rather springy today :)

I am kind of loving the return of the scarf. First trekkiegirl, then Angie, and now you. Hmmm.

    Looks fab, Shannon!

  • Jaime replied 9 years ago

You and Angie are on the same wavelength with your light leather and spring scarves! I love the green against the white. Not sure about the bags without seeing the options :-).

Pretty scarf - of course it's the perfect print and colour for spring (and for this rather gloomy looking day ).  I'd tie it into a circle shape myself (as Angie did in her photos today) . Love those Tom's wedges and bag.  Nice outfit !

Such a pretty color scarf for spring! This is a great outfit. I will be the outlier here and say that I MIGHT prefer one of the other bags (I'm not sure without seeing them with the outfit) but this one certainly works very well.

What a gorgeous scarf! I love the close up where you can see the pattern and obvious lightweight texture. Perfect for spring!

Good job mom!! You look fresh and springish!

Stunning as always, girl! Love the scarf, so sweet of your mom :)

The new scarf is gorgeous. What a nice Mama you have, Shannon. Your outfit is fabulously Spring-y, and I'm loving how richly white it is.

  • Kirstjen replied 9 years ago

I think it adds a nice dose of color to your outfit.  If it were in my wardrobe, it would get a lot of wear come summer.  It looks like a perfect weight for a cool summer night at an outdoor concert.

I think that sometimes the note that accompanies a gift is as important as the gift itself.  It is nice to know when someone is thinking of you, even when you are far away.
