WIW: Snakeskin & Leather

Good morning my lovelies!

Today's outfit started out with my gold snakeskin blouse, to which I added my slim cigarette-type trousers. Over that, I added my leather blazer (which I want to wear all the time I love it so much) and for footwear, my Doc Marcie boots. For outdoors, I'm wearing my wool black/camel car coat and snakeskin print thermal gloves. My handbag is my slouchy black leather with gold hardware bag. No other accessories.

There's not a lot of colour going on in this outfit but I'm very happy with it - the fit and textures work for me. What do you think? Does it all work - proportions ok? As always, all comments/suggestions welcome.

Leather blazer: Danier Leather
Blouse: Vince Camuto
Trousers: Calvin Klein (thrifted)
Boots: Doc Martens Marcie's
Handbag: Christopher Kon (consignment)
Coat: Cleo Petite (thrifted)

What a lovely blazer! Your outfit looks great, I love the mustardy yellow color, very nice with everything you picked!

Shannon pulls another great outfit and another unexpected and fine look out of her hat! So cool. I feel like you should be going out somewhere special in this. A jazz club or somewhere you really enjoy!

I love this. It has an uber-cool vibe to it. That blouse is spectacular on you.

Check out Una's snake print blouse thread; she might be springing for the original!

i have been noticing a more streamlined approach to dressing...which i love, btw. has rhis been intentional?

Gorgeous outfit Shannon. I love the yellow with black as the backdrop for the leather jacket. Did you try it with the top few buttons open? I like the buttoned up look but I think the V created by opening one or two would mimic the V at the hem of the jacket and add really nice symmetry. Possibly an alternate look?

Who needs more colour when you have a focused palette and excellent pieces?! I love that blazer and I am so happy that you found it. I think it will grow and move with you wherever your style takes you.

Rae - I never thought that mustard would be an ok colour for me but I'm kind of digging it!

Mochi - I sooooo wish I were going somewhere cool rather than to work!

Suz - I saw Una's thread about her snakeskin blouse. Won't she look fantastic in that colour? and with her Theory blazer over top? It will be the "real" version of my look - lol!

bj111 - others have pointed out this slight shift in my look too. I don't think it's been intentional, it just seems to be heading in a more streamlined direciton and I'm just going with it!

Dianthus - I hear you on the buttoned up look. It's difficult to tell but I actually have the top two buttons undone on the blouse but the jacket kind of "pushes" the blouse together, you know? It looks more obvious when the jacket is off.

Ceit - this jacket is probably my favourite purchase of 2012 and was worth every penny.

Another winner! I love the gloves! And every other piece really, but I thought I would go for the less obvious.

I love this outfit! I don't think you need any more color with the mustard blouse. I'm impressed that you wore yellow and black and it doesn't remind me of a bumblebee. I'm also jealous of anyone who can wear mustard since it looks terrible on me (it turns me pink, ugh).

That mustard snakeskin blouse is amazing on you! The all black outfit is a great showcase for the blouse. You look too cool for school!

Love this outfit, very ubercool vibe to it!!
And the addition of snakeskin print of course is awesome!!
    Love that mustard color!

Very elegant, love the colors, texture and the pattern. And you match the lampshade!

This is one of your best outfits ever. It is so flattering on you and you look soooooooooooo classy!

The colour contrast between the black and the mustard gives this outfit a high colour quotient in my books. Nothing subdued about it at all. Black and gold were my high school colours, and I've kept a fondness for it ever since.

A strong, beautiful look with a bit of a rocker vibe. Very flattering and very fab, Shannon! And all these individual pieces are so beautiful (how amazing is that yellow animal print on you!).

  • Sveta replied 11 years ago

This is one strong and interesting outfit, Shannon. The yellow blouse looks great on you and provides enough color. And I cannot tell you how much I LOVE that Danier jacket on you. Absolute perfection. I tried it on in th store but it is not a good fit for me: M was a bit roomy but S was a bit too tight... oh well, i will enjoy it on you instead!

ZOMG so cool! And I hope you don't mind my saying so, but you are looking super svelte these days!

WoW.. those gloves are amazing... the rest of the outfit too.. but wow, those gloves!!

  • Susie replied 11 years ago

What a great outfit. I really like all of those pieces individually and they all work so well together on you.

  • CocoLion replied 11 years ago

That snakeskin blouse is soooo cool and you have styled it perfectly!

  • annagybe replied 11 years ago

    Looking sharp!

  • catgirl replied 11 years ago

Shannon! I love this! And how is this not "real"? The VC shirt sold out in green befroe I could get it, or I would have been a shirt twin for realz! Can't wait to copy this head to toe, assuming I keep the Equipment shirt.

Squeee!!! Thank you all so much for the outfit lovin'!

I must say, I felt pretty darned fab in this ensemble today and plan on repeating it often - hope you don't get sick of it!

Shiny & Shevia - aren't the gloves fab? The only thing better than keeping your hands warm is keeping them warm in snakeskin pattern!

Sveta - it's funny how this is the leather jacket that has fit me the best from Danier. Normally the waist in their jackets hit in the wrong spot for me because they are so longer in the torso but this one nips in at just the right spot. Sorry it didn't work for you :(
