WIW: Slouchy Skinnies come out to play

I got back my slouchy skinnies from Wonder Woman last night - see here for the whole tale http://youlookfab.com/welookfa.....at-do-i-do and she really did a fab job of repairing the problem. So much so that I'm wearing them today and LOVING them!

Please excuse the lack of make up or any real hair style - I just came in from shoveling the walk and will now be getting "prettied" up to go get groceries.

These are two sizes up from my regular size and without the belt fall off without any help. But I much prefer them to my Gap sexy BF's because I prefer the rise, the colour of the dye and the fit of the leg. Sorry Gap BF's - you're now relegated to being "house pants".

I have another pair of these slouchy skinnies with Wonder Woman only one size up being hemmed and am looking forward to having two different fit options in the same jean.

I've paired these with a newer turquoise, lime green and white argyle sweater that I got a few weeks ago and have brought in some pattern mixing by using my animal print calf hair belt. Footwear are my simple black wedge booties.

Hope you like this casual offering - I gotta say that my happiness scale for this ensemble is definitely 10/10!

Thank you for the recommendation on these jeans Angie - I love them! I know this look won't be to everyone's taste as the baggy oversized jeans aren't everyone's favourite look. I'm cool with that.

Oh, I'm so glad the jeans could be saved! They look great, and the perfect weekend look. Love your new sweater too with that semi-tuck! Yay; so happy for you!

    Very casual chic!

    Tragedy averted! Go wonderwoman!

You look great. What a cheery sweater!

  • Suz replied 11 years ago

Yay! So glad Wonderwoman was able to repair the damage! That is fab news. Love this sweater on you, Shannon! It's so cheerful and bright.

It is amazing how small differences in cut and shape can make huge differences in how we feel. Something about those Gap ones just wasn't "you" and even though we all thought they looked good on you, they never felt entirely right. If these ones work for you - that is what matters.

If I hadn't followed the other thread regarding what happened to these jeans, I NEVER would have realized they had to be "fixed." I am really loving the slouchy look on you. Whiskering is not usually to my taste, but with this ensemble, its like you're picking up the whisker color with the lightness of the sweater, and it is really cool. Great outfit!

Thanks ladies - back from running around and was super comfortable while doing so.

Quick question though - do you think there's a bit too much ankle scrunch? I'm wondering if I should take them a bit shorter. I normally like a lot of scrunch but am not sure it totally works with these.

  • Atlantia replied 11 years ago

I like the scrunch. Of course, scrunch is an awfully personal preference, isn't it? You could always do a little turnup at the bottom and see how you like it.

  • catgirl replied 11 years ago

Well you know this is a sugar eye look for me! So I say, SWEET!

  • replied 11 years ago

Hmm. At what point is there too much scrunch with this look? I have no idea. There IS a lot of scrunch going on from the knee down and my inclination is that it's too much, but that could be my inexperience talking. I'd like to see you shorten them temporarily and see if that helps. Or maybe my eye just needs to adjust.

Funny....I wondered the same thing with my slouchy trousers. Of course they drape more because it's not denim. But I rolled them up to see what I thought of that. And I liked that look, too...it was just totally different. It was loose and baggy trousers vs. slouchy trousers. I happen to like loose and baggy as well.

What about rolling the jeans up a bit or pinning them under and taking some pics?

One thing about the other boyfriends (GAP) is that they were very tapered toward the bottom. So it is a slightly different line, right?

Wow, Shannon, I really like this outfit--and I'm definitely one of those sitting on the Avoid Slouchy Pants and No To Whiskering benches. But these jeans are really making me sit up and re-think this look. Those jeans look amazing!

Oh Shannon, I liked MY boyfriend so much and thought he was 'the one'- til I saw your new be. Now I want YOUR latest! :)
    Not until Winter here though.
    YLF!

Shannon, are these the same slouchies that Angie's wearing in this post? http://youlookfab.com/2012/09/.....low-style/

  • Transcona Shannon replied 11 years ago

Suz - the leg shape is significantly different than the Gap BF's - narrower all the way down - which is one of the things I really like about these. I'll play with the hem a bit and see what I think.

Anne - yes, these are the jeans as in Angie's blog post (hers are a MUCH smaller size mind you - lol!)

Thanks ladies - glad to see I wasn't completely off the mark with this. Now I can hardly wait to get back the smaller size!

  • Angie replied 11 years ago

A happy ending to these skinnies makes me happy! They look terrific, Shannon. Not too tapered but perhaps still a tad long. How do you feel about shortening them a little?

And you know I LOVE argyle.

  • Transcona Shannon replied 11 years ago

I totally agree Angie - I do think they need a bit more shortening. I have the sneaky suspicion the smaller pair being hemmed now may also be a bit too one - I think my length gauge was off that day - lol!

  • Jaime replied 11 years ago

Yay your jeans were saved! Let me talk about the sweater though - I love that blue on you! Of course I love those jeans on you, but I think I agree they should be just a bit shorter. Love how you do the half/faux/whatever tuck too!

  • Deborah replied 11 years ago

Shannon so thrilled there is a happy ending to the slouchy jeans story:). Your seamstress really is Wonder Woman:). I also agree shortening them a tad might be an idea but otherwise they look amazing!

  • kkards replied 11 years ago

Love the sweater and you have really mastered the half tuck, I'm still working on that.

Glad to know that I'm not the only one who shifts castoffs to " house pants"

  • rae replied 11 years ago

Oh, these are THE slouchy skinnies? Awesome, I am glad you and WW worked it out! I see what Angie means about the length, but I'm just so relieved that the tapering was fixed.
