WIW: Simple Black & Navy

Today's outfit features two new items - I purchased both of these several weeks ago but they were off getting sleeves and hems shortened.

My outfit started with these slim fit black trousers. They are a cotton/spandex blend with a nice flat front and size zipper. The legs are slim but not skinny and they have small black zippers at the back of the ankle. These will be fabulous pants to go with pretty much everything from casual to dressy.

I then added a black lace cami and my new navy wrap front, hi lo, collared blouse. The blouse also has this pretty little jewel-like front button.

I chose my trusty black pointy toe kitten heels (the only pointy toe heels that are still very comfortable - will be duplicating these since mine are starting to show some serious wear) and my citrony-olive/cobalt/black snakeskin clutch to finish off the outfit. Oh yeah…and my purple/clear specs and a swipe of berry lipstick.

This outfit is very simple - nothing fussy but everything fits and feels great on. Pretty much what I'm wanting from my wardrobe these days. Would love your thoughts/feedback as always.

Blouse: INC
Cami: Ricki's
Trousers: Eileen Fisher (eBay)
Shoes: Calvin Klein
Clutch: Trouve

So pretty - I love this look! So simple, as you said, but elegantly simple.

I love the chic simplicity of the outfit. Those pants look perfect on you and I love the wrap front blouse.
Would you consider/ be your style a statement necklace a la Cathe  Blanchett instead of the bracelet?

Celia - I actually took off the bracelet before I left home, finding it too busy. I'm not sure about a statement necklace. Haven't worn one in ages. I guess I would have to try it out and see what I think - but I like the idea.

I really like that blouse on you Shannon. I hear you about appreciating a simple look too - perfect for this in-between time of year. I have those pumps too and wear the heck of out them.  They are the only ones I can wear too.

Shannon, you look so pretty, and I love the way the pumps add a bit of skin and the feeling of spring (if not the reality, argh!!!)

This looks great, Shannon. Love the drape of the blouse and trousers, and I do also really love navy and black together. The feminine peek of lace is a great touch, and so is the sliver of brighter blue on that super fun clutch.

You look really really well in this outfit. It gives an aura of composure, good taste and efficiency all at the same time. It's simple but it is not boring. I think I should try something along this line :)

Simple but with great fluid fit. The EF pants are especially wonderful. What is the style called? They would also look fab with the ankle strap Clark's that you found, maybe with the ankle zippers unzipped.

    YLF :)

The pants are fab - side zip pants are my favorite. Well fitting clothes are the best style statement!

Crossover blouse in blue, pointy shoes, perfect lipstick. Irresistible!

Effortlessly chic!  What more can I say.  Love the navy on you Shannon.

Great navy & black pairing. Love that blouse especially, and the new pants are equally terrific.

Sorry I couldn't get back to this thread yesterday - thank you all for your lovely comments. I felt quite good in this combination and really enjoyed the simplicity of the outfit and the quality of the individual pieces.

Joy - I bought the pants from my eBay seller. They are the Eileen Fisher Black Organic Cotton Stretch Twill Slim Ankle Trouser Pant (see picture below). They have zippers on the back of the ankle, side zipper and perfect flat front and waistband. There are two slim slash pockets on the back and a seam down the center of the back leg. Super comfy!
