WIW: Shades of Brown

Nothing fancy today - just a basic outfit really. I started with my espresso brown Esprit trousers and then added my Gap rust coloured short sleeve knit that has an interesting beaded detail at the neckline. For accessories I added my vintage men's tribal belt and my snakeskin handbag, as well as my gold watch for jewelry. For footwear, my Naturalizer brown booties that I've had for at least 4 years. I'm going to be so sad when they finally die because they are so comfortable and were the first pair of booties I purchased.

In looking at the pics I think this handbag might be too light for this outfit and maybe I should have gone with the Fossil one.

What do you think? Colours and proportions ok? Is the handbag too light? As always, all comments/suggestions welcome.

P.S. forgot to take a pic but my outerwear today is my ink blue faux leather jacket.

Top: Gap
Trousers: Esprit
Booties: Naturalizer
Belt: vintage (thrifted)
Handbag: Elliott Lucca
Watch: thrifted

Great outfit. It is simple but the accessories really add zing. I am loving those shoes. Are they new?

You have such an enviable wardrobe! Every single wiw you post I find myself coveting something.

That rust colored top is stunning. The color and the detail at the neck is lovely. The semi tuck looks good here too. I think the bag works however I would be inclined towards a solid not a pattern for this combo. As always, you look amazing:). Have a great day.

    Beautifully accessorized

I like this! I think your Fossil bag would have gone better, but the snakeskin certainly isn't awful!

That shade of rust looks great on you.

What Traci said.... enviable wardrobe and a knack for putting it all together looking streamlined and fab!

NIce! I agree I might prefer it with the Fossil bag. Are you at home today or at work?

Dianthus - I've had these booties for about 4 years now and they have truly been workhorses. So comfortable and have a bit of an insulating lining for warmth.

Suz - I'm at work today. Why do you ask?

Thanks all. Yes, Fossill bag would have looked better.

How can you say this is nothing fancy? This is gorgeous, love it.
I hadn't notice those booties before and I find them very very interesting. Are they from this year collection?

Simple, polished and interesting. I really love the henley in that ensemble. Great fall colors too!

  • rae replied 11 years ago

These colors are making me seriously long for Fall. Visualizing the ink blue, and it's stellar. :) I really love how your bag plays with earth tones!

K-word worthy, for sure. LOVE the small subtle pattern mixing details. Chic!

You don't need to look fancy to look fantastic :)

I love this outfit, especially the cool booties and patterned belt. I really need to start adding some more belts to my outfits. I don't like to tuck but maybe a half tuck would allow more belts and still feel 'me'.

    Thanks all!

Celia - these booties are so NOT from this year's collection! I got these about 4 years ago and they have been one of my best purchases ever. They are extremely comfortable despite the heel height.

I need to remember that Angie "you don't need to look fancy to look fantastic"!

You look great, Shannon! This bag is fine but I think I'd like the Fossil one even better.

You need your orange kitty in the background!
