WIW: Shabby Re-Mix

Good morning my lovely YLFers! Decided to pull out my Shabby Apple skirt today as it is a dreary and rainy day (which we need) and the yellow will help me feel sunny!

I've paired it with my yellow tee which I've left untucked and then belted with a thrifted leather belt with a fab silver buckle, popped on my Pura Lopez brown suede bootie sandals (yes...suede in the rain...they are protected) and then topped it all off with my darker wash cropped denim jacket. I've added my brown raffia tote for my only accessory today.

I feel like this looks a little country, but I don't mind. I've added a picture of the last time I wore my Shabby Apple skirt for a comparison.

So how does this version work? Proportions and colours? As always, all comments/suggestions welcome.

Jacket: Brody Jeans (thrifted)
Tee: thrifted (no label)
Skirt: Shabby Apple
Sandals: Pura Lopez (thrifted)
Handbag: thrifted

Very nice remix. I can honestly say I don't prefer one version over the other. I love the glimpse of the belt buckle under the denim jacket and they are great shoes. Another fab outfit:)

I like both versions, too. Today's outfit looks a like you could wear it going into fall while the previous version looks maybe more spring and summery.

    You look great!

I LOVE that color on you. Wow!

You have a wonderful fashion sense - looks fantastic top to bottom

#2 all the way! The dark coat works so much better! Love the orange bag with it anyway

Love this! I like it with both jackets and I can't believe how well that t-shirt matches the skirt!

#2 is totally rocking! A 10! I like the country vibe.

FAB remix! Another genius bag and shoe pairing too.

Although I confess I do prefer the tucked-in top to avoid a third horizontal line (belt and jacket hemline being the other two) in the waist-hip area.

So smart to have your suede all-weather-ready, Shannon. But, er, why do you need dreary, rainy days again??

It's been crazy hot and dry here Manidipa and the ground has been crying for rain for a couple of weeks now. It rained off and on all day yesterday and I swear I can hear the garden singing with happiness!

I like both outfits very much! I agree with Parsley that this new version will transition into Fall where the first interpretation is more Spring/Summer!

I love that tee with the skirt - instant midi dress!

Not too shabby! Looks crisp and inviting. It's a "get to know me" outfit!

Love! 2 is my favorite, the bag is a fun accent with this and killer shoes, btw.

I'm a fan of the Shabby Apple and like it styled both ways.

    Thank you ladies.

I have one major issue with this skirt - it wrinkles like you would not believe. It is now mid afternoon here and my entire front of the skirt looks like horizontal accordian pleats and the butt is completely sagged out. Despite all my attempts to make this skirt work (since it was not returnable) I'm not sure I like it. I love the fabric in terms of the colours and design, but it just looks ugly by the end of the day. It makes me feel sloppy...or is that "shabby"?

  • Victoria replied 11 years ago

I like both versions, I think it looks great!

  • JulieJohn replied 11 years ago

Shannon, the wrinkliness is a bit of a shame. However your honest full disclosure is as lovely as you are. Ah, c'est la vie. Let's call it the "I lived today" look.

    Love it!

#2 is fantastic! Nice job on mixing. I think I only slightly prefer it to the lighter jacket in #3.
