WIW: Scarf Bookending

I've never worn a lot of scarves even though I live in a cold climate - I find them too fussy for the most part. But I've found one or two recently that I really like and seem to work for me. And I've found a way to wear an infinity scarf in a way that requires no adjusting or fussing at all.

So today's outfit started with my burgundy skinnies (which are still going strong after 3 years) and paired them with my semi-tucked gold metallic knit pullover. I added a taupe/black snakeskin belt to add a bit of pattern.

On top of the pullover, I've added a burgundy cashmere blend infinity scarf (from Danier Leather) which bookends the pants perfectly. Rather than have the scarf just sort of "dangle", I twisted it in the middle and doubled it before popping it on.

Accessories include my rose gold/black watch, red specs and black Chelsea boots.

So what do you think? Can I wear this scarf like I mean it??? As always, all comments/suggestions welcome.

I'm with you regarding infinity scarves - lovely cloth necklaces that keep your neck warm. Of course this works!

Very nice, good to see you, I missed my morning inspiration. :)

Made a couple of tweaks before heading out the door. I switched to a black belt to bookend the boots and because in the pic, the lighter belt really cut me in half and looked like it was floating. And I switched to my purple and clear specs since the red specs competed too much with the scarf. Made a big difference - unfortunately I don't have time to take another pic. You'll just have to trust me!

Yes, why not! Great bookending! I love scarves for winter, and I cannot imagine living in a cold climate without one(like you say)-but never loved the infinities-guess because I only "just dangled" or twisted them only once before popping it on.  I'm amazed of you new discovery- I see the double twisting makes that little peek of a triangle giving a bit of structure (or shape) in the middle front...Love it, and  can't wait to try it! Thanx for posting and explaining it, Shannon!:-)

Hey, you are stealing from my stylebook! I use the scarf bookending trick all. the. time in winter. Keeps the neck warm and the outfit unified. This looks great, Shannon. I love that sweater so much!!

The scarf provides a sort of "frame" for your face, so it's a definite "do"!  I actually like the light belt, but the black looks fine, too, I'm sure.

Love the warm glow of this metallic sweater.  You wear this color so well, and his has a nice vibe for the holiday season.

To me, this is a quintessential Shannon outfit.  Very nice...polished, professional and festive.  Scarf on!

Great outfit Shannon - I love that style scarf on you. I don't wear scarves much but I purchased one of the infinity style scarves in navy to bookend my jeans this year too just for those few cold days we'll have.

The scarf is beautiful on you! It gives the effect of a cowl neck. This outfit is fantastic--love the gold tones with the burgundy, and the semi-tucked fluid sweater over slouchy skinnies is a winning silhouette for you.

I'm all about a scarf in the winter , and like Suz, often use one to bookend or pull things together. I also love the look and the feel...to the point where I feel undressed without one now! I love circle scarves loosely draped and if it feels like it's hanging too low, I just loop it one more time around my neck. I like this colour combo too - the gold and burg. Kind of holiday-ish :)

Love the scarf, pants and specs bookending. You rock dark red, Shannon. And you had me with the daytime sparkle. I love shine. xo

Been in meetings ALL DAY so just popping in to say thanks for your kind words (glad to know I don't look silly with my scarf :) ). Off to grab coffee since the day ain't done yet... :(

Oh I love this! The gold and burgundy are so pretty together. I trust you made the right choice with the tweaks you made!

I too have been liking scarves again recently after not bothering with them much at all last year. I might have to copy your trick.

Love the gold and the burgundy! The scarf looks great like this, I really like the idea.

Yes, you can wear scarves well Shannon! I really like the ends tucked up nice and neatly, especially since you're showing your belt buckle. It sort of looks like a contrasting collar for your top. Very nice with the gold top and burgundy skinnies. Good to see you!
