WIW: Rolled White Jeans & Purple-Blue Booties

Gosh, I hope this outfit is JFE - it definitely isn't traditionally flattering. I'm only 5 feet tall and rolled white jeans with high contrast purple-blue suede booties is definitely stumpifying.

Today's outfit actually started with this three-year-old merino wool drapey hi-lo striped pullover. At one point, I had thought about purging this pullover but am soooooo glad I didn't. And the quality of this wool is stellar - three years and not a single pill. Still looks like new.

I've paired the pullover with my slimmer leg white BF jeans - I love how the white jeans play with the white stripe in the pullover.

Then I rolled one cuff on the jean legs and popped on my purple-blue suede booties, also several years old. Like I mentioned, definitely not overly flattering in that my legs look quite short like this. But I've enjoyed seeing some high contrast pants and booties looks with ALL of the bootie showing, especially booties with a slightly higher shaft, and thought I'd give it a bash.

When I head out the door, everything will be topped with my navy leather jacket. Accessories include my navy vintage Coach bag, grey and silver bangle, silver wedding band and black/white specs.

So…have I pulled off this look enough to be JFE or does it look ridiculous? I've already headed out the door so can't do anything about it now but would definitely like to know for the next time. Wear again or wear my full length white BF jeans instead? As always, all comments/suggestions welcome.

Wow, love the purple popping out from the outfit! It's a clever accent! Thumbs up from me!

I like this color combination a lot. The white makes it look very fresh. I agree it doesn't give you the appearance of towering height, but that's okay!

You look great. I think the length of the sweater is perfect and de-stumpify's the look. Your legs don't look short. They would if the jeans were rolled AND the top was longer. Definitely worth repeating.

I would never have guessed you're only 5 feet tall! This is definitely worth repeating. Glad the sweater survived the purge. It's gorgeous and YLF the way you've put it together with white and purple.

I think it's fresh and fab. I love the way the white jeans are bookended in the sweater, as is the blue of the booties. So glad the sweater survived the purge! I can see this working hard for you in the cold months ahead!

Still my beating heart? You almost purged (one of) my favourite sweaters?????

I would have had to come and spank your bottom for that one! I always LOVE the outfits including this sweater, and this one is absolutely no exception. (This is a sweater I debated over but they didn't have my size when I was trying on, so I left it; I want to continue enjoying it vicariously on you!) The white jeans and booties are superb with this, and I think this is a new combination for them?

Looks terrific Shannon - I don't see the stumpifying. I think the white in the sweater draws the eye up and the blue back down to the booties or maybe it is the proportions but it looks great!

I like it!  I will say, I think you're brave for wearing white on a day like this (it is raining, blowing and miserable out here!)  but it's totally fall-appropriate with the suede and leather added in.

I quite like the sweater too - never pitch that one!  And lastly, no, no stumpifying effect at all.  An all-around wonderful sportswear mix.

It's lovely, Shannon, definitely one to wear again.  I love the surface finish on your jacket, too, it has a beautiful lustre and I can imagine the silver worked really well with it.  I always think white jeans look SO grown up and fresh, and your periwinkle boots work beautifully with them.

Ummlila - I couldn't look like I had "towering height" no matter how hard I tried - lol!

Suz - I can feel your wrath all the way over here - tee hee :) And yes, this is a new combination. Funny how you can have pieces that are a few years old and never think of putting them together.

Lisa - no need to give me any sort of kudos for being brave - I literally go from the house to the garage to the office. No chance of blowing away.

Lynne - one of the features that attracted me to this leather jacket was the sort of "rubbed, vintage" finish on it.

Thanks for your comments all. I'm glad this isn't horrendously bad. I'm feeling quite snappy in it and a little bit different than my work mates - in a good way.

Oh yes!  You know, this should by stumpifying, but it's not.  My eye reads it as bookending, and I love the playful, but rich, color on your feet.  Awesome!

I love this - but I am biased because I had that sweater too!! Absolutely loved it as well. Never thought to pair it with white! I had to purge mine because sadly it became just too short for me - especially after a particular washing episode..... I still have it in the black/coral colour way...maybe I'll try it with white - thanks for the inspiration!!

  • Transcona Shannon replied 9 years ago

Jackie - I know exactly what you mean about the sweater getting shorter and shorter. I have had some of that too. So now when I wash it, while it is still wet, I stretch it back to its length and clothespin it so the drying rack so that it keeps the length. Otherwise by now, it would fit my cat!

I love those booties and the outfit is great.  Very flattering.

Can I ask what you are wearing for hose?  socks?  nude  knee highs? bare feet?  I never know what to wear under booties when a little leg might peep out when I sit or walk.  Match the boots or the pants or go neutral...?

SO glad you didn't purge that sweater!  Love this outfit, it is very flattering actually and the color contrast makes it feel very fresh and current. You look great!

  • Angie replied 9 years ago

Super casual and super cute. Definitely JFE. You have proportionally long legs and are wearing heels, which helps with proportions. xo

  • catgirl replied 9 years ago

This looks perfect to me, Shannon!

  • kkards replied 9 years ago

love the lighter color bottoms with the darker color boot--this may not be leg lengthening, but its more than JFE!

  • shedev replied 9 years ago

    No stump in sight.

  • Tanya replied 9 years ago

I think this is more than JFE on you Shannon! Love the combination, pretty colors.

Thank god you didn't purge that lovely sweater! I love this look from H to T.

I think it looks great!  I've been toying with wearing my booties with rolled pants but haven't actually tried it yet.  Partly because it's still too warm for boots but partly because I'm not confident I have the look right.
