WIW: Nothing New for the New Year

This outfit is comprised of pieces that I have had for over a year now - and yet I still feel current and stylish. As well, the tee and trousers are lower end pieces that have worn incredibly well and been complete workhorses in my wardrobe. Just goes to show that price does not necessarily equate quality.

Today's outfit started with my dark olive green cargo pants. Based on these pants, I have determined that a) I love slim fitting cargo pants and b) I must always have a pair in my wardrobe - they are soooooo versatile.

I have paired the pants with my drapey black/white ballerina tee, semi tucked to show a peek of my black leather belt. On top of that, I've added my strict black suit blazer and scrunched the sleeves to take any "stuffiness" out of the jacket. Due to how often I wear this blazer, it is starting to show some wear and tear. I may duplicate and buy the same one again since the fit is so perfect for me.

To finish off the outfit, I've added some black patent shine with my booties and clutch. The clutch also adds some structure to the outfit. Red specs and rose gold/black oversized watch and swipe of lipstick complete the ensemble.

What do you think? Does it all work together? As always, all comments/suggestions welcome.

Looks great Shannon!  I don't think we should feel pressure to always have new items, style should come from within, and you have it in spades.

I think you look awesome and I agree that new stuff need not always be involved. I was actually really happy for you reading that you felt fab and styled in this despite thinking you should have something new. To me it means you have definitely achieved style nirvana :-)

A fantastic outfit. Definitely a 10. No wonder you feel so good in it, you look terrific. I love the pops of red and rose with the dark olive.

Such a great outfit!  I love how versatile your ballerina tee is.

You look great.  I'm a big fan of that tee.   I use shiny patent as a way to add a little polish to my outfits, too.  I also think this neutral outfit would look fabulous with your new citron bag.

Looking good, Shannon! I like the juxtaposition of the girly ballerina and the tougher cargoes.

Love this! I really like the graphic tee and the clutch all paired with the blazer/cargos. Super super stylish and chic :)

I love a good cargo:)  The funny thing is that I never wear mine in the winter, and I don't know why.  Mine are a slightly lighter colour, but that doesn't mean anything.....

I always have at least 2-3  pair of army green pants in my closet -  in different weights and styles.  You've given me inspiration for today's outfit - thanks!   (that's if I can find them- lol)

This looks so fresh and fun. This look and one similar from a few days ago caused me to go back to the look you posted with the purple jacket...a look you questioned. I think that purple jacket is very nice (love the color) but the shorter length and boxy silhouette make it slightly less flattering than the longer toppers. So just my 2 cents but I think these longer, leaner jackets (and the stronger shoulder) are more flattering.

    As my grandfather would say...

    Ya look sharp, kid. :D

The perfect casual outfit. Live the jackret, and tee.

Elizabeth & PalmFronds - I think we get a lot of external pressure to always having something new and it's hard to turn off that consumerism habit at times. I'm starting to find that the more "10" items I have in my closet, the less likely I am to feel the need to buy more.

Robidi & ATlynn & Suz - my poor ballerina tee is dying a slow death and I am gonna be soooooo sad when she's no longer with me. Love this tee!

Lisa - dig out those cargo pants girl - to heck with our winter weather!

Nebraskim - I totally agree about the jacket silhouette. I love a strong shoulder line and lean silhouette created with a classic blazer.

    Thanks all :)

TShannon, I aim to reach your stature myself! I have an itchy trigger buying finger, ha ha ha!!!! I totally agree about the drive to" get " something. My hope is to get where you are now, happy with good quality stylish pieces in my wardrobe so I can wear them with a smile everyday to their well earned retirement!

Love the combo of a military-like pant alongside patent booties and a feminine tee/jacket .  Beautifully done.  Sometimes it's good to remember to enjoy our clothes, rather than just looking for the next new thing!
