WIW: New White Jeans (ETA 7 hour pics added)

Well the new white jeans are back from being hemmed and are ready to play! I've done a fairly typical pairing with navy - my vintage blazer and a navy/white striped tee. I'm wearing my Boutique 9 peep toes for a neutral shoe to help lengthen the leg line and am wearing my orange handbag again (love orange and navy together). My oversized gold watch is all I have on for jewelry.

Does this combination work? Proportions ok? As always, all comments/suggestions welcome.

Blazer: vintage
Tee: Liz Claiborne (thrifted)
Jeans: Jeanne Bekker (Canadian designer)
Shoes: Boutique 9
Watch: thrifted
Handbag: Danier Leather (thrifted)

ETA: I've now been sitting for a full 7 hours (financial planning day in the office so not moving from my desk) and thought it might be interesting to check the status of these jeans after that amount of time (i.e. wrinkling and butt stretching). So Kristin and I giggled away as she took these two shots beind my office door. I think the jeans are holding up incredibly well and I couldn't be more pleased - BTW sorry for the close up of my butt!

A chic classic look but added punch in the shoes & bag.

What a great jacket - it looks smashing with the white jeans. The only quibble I have is with the shoes I am not sure why, but I sort of want another color shoe. A small point regarding a great look.

I love this! Tasteful, elegant but still "cool" and contemporary. I do agree with Shevia tho that I also feel a different shoe would add something. I love the Boutique 9's, however I'm wanting to see a colored shoe here. Doesn't have to match the bag. And take it for what it's worth, as it's just an opinion because this outfit still looks totally fab.

You look lovely! This is such a classic look but you still imbue it with your personality. The oxfords and the bag add a bit of edge and unexpected fun. I love navy and white together as you know, but now I want to find a navy jacket!

Ooolala, so French and crunchy crisp. The jeans look perfect and you've updated the classic blazer with color, booties annd sleeve scrunching.

This does work beautifully, in fact I am ready to copycat you ASAP.

very cool, crisp and classic Parisian chic. I like the v neck on the t makes it look like a vest!

  • Aunty replied 11 years ago

    Ooooh I like!!!
THe v neck and the line of the jacket are amazing on you. I love the orange bag with it, a fantastic change from the usual red.
    Chic to the max :)

I think it totally works! I actually prefer these shoes to colored ones, this way the bag can shine and you get a longer leg line.

I love everything about this outfit and how it came together for you. I think you could even wear these with higher shoes.

Thanks everyone! I will definitely try different shoe options and see what other ones will work as well.

That's a great striped T! I can't tell if it's black and white or just a darker (than the blazer) navy and white, but either way, I like the way it looks like you've thrown caution to the winds and worn them together! It adds a bit of chic interest, IMO. This is a great jumping off point for your new white jeans. You'll soon see that you can wear them with everything!

I love this! The v-neck tee with blazer strikes me as a little bit menswearish, too, which you know I like. :)

  • L'Abeille replied 11 years ago

Shannon I love this outfit. And not just because I'm always up for the nautical look.

This is the most leg-lengthening look I have ever seen you in. And it's not just the heels, because it comes across even in the thumbnail. I think it has something to do with the 2 tiered effect of the tops: the longer, darker blazer layer over the white visually narrows your hips and lengthens your legs.

Funny, because my eye has finally gotten used to the short-jacket-over-long-top proportion. And here is the evidence for why the reverse has always been a classic: it's so flattering!

You look great! Thanks to the inspiration from you and Celia, I am looking forward to pairing the Boutique 9 shoes with my white jeans but I for now I am staying away from open-toe shoes for safety reasons. That jacket is wonderful - rich, deep blue color.

  • Transcona Shannon replied 11 years ago

Claire - the blue in the tee is a darker navy than the jacket.

L'Abeille - interesting that this is leg lengthening. I was sure that white would cause my legs to look even shorter than they are. I've always had a fondness for longer jackets even though at my height, they are not always the best for me. Thanks for the feedback!

    Thanks Rae and Makrame!

Your orange flats (you have some, right?) might look too matchy, but don't you have some green shoes? Just an idea...

LOVE the white jeans and you look great in them!
