WIW: New Blouse Thingy

I had mentioned in a previous post the need for light weight blouses for my warm office - I found this last week but it's not a blouse in the truest sense of the word.

It has a wrap front with a small snap and an asymmetrical zipper on the lower left hand side. It has a hi-lo hemline and 3/4 tabbed sleeves with a slight dropped shoulder. This is the type of blouse I'm looking for (along the lines of my two new Danier tops) - something lighter weight, some interesting detail(s) and drapey to pair with a structured bottom.

I've paired this blouse thingy with my black/white/grey marbled VC tube skirt. I popped a white tank underneath the blouse thingy to pull the white out of the skirt.

For footwear I went with my Doc Martens and accessories include a pop of colour with my cobalt/cream quilted handbag, rose gold/black watch and red specs. Dusty Bottom felt he looked fabulous with this black and white colour scheme so has added himself as a "textural accessory" :)

What do you think? Does it all work together? As always, all comments/suggestions welcome.

Blouse: Smart Set
Tank: Rickis
Skirt: Vince Camuto
Boots: Doc Martens
Handbag: Danier Leather

Your blouse thingy looks great - I like the asymmetrical hem and deep v and it works with the narrow skirt.

I like the thingy. :) but those docs are killer.

I think this works really well Shannon.  Tough yet feminine.

I love this! The blouse thingy is perfect, and I love it paired with the pencil skirt. The blue bag is a fun pop of color, and so many of your gorgeous hand bags would work so well.

I think that is the skirt Wonder Woman tailored for you, and so very glad she did. It is really turning into a workhorse!

I like that top. It seems to have the good, flattering qualities of both a jacket and a blouse.

Oh, lovely! I love the look of the tough boots and the feminine elements of skirt and blouse. How are you feeling today Shannon?

Bilbo says hi to Dusty Bottom!

Fabulous! I really, really like this. It's a silhouette completely after my heart. Love seeing you in the Docs boots, too --- memories of Marcy!

  • Neel replied 9 years ago

I love the sleeve length on you. Looks very flattering :). Love your outfit with the docs too!

Very cool blouse - like a moto blouse :)
Like the pairing and accessorizing as well.

Thistle - although both skirts are black and white, this isn't the skirt that Wonder Woman tailored. But I love the circle dot skirt that she fixed up for me and will be wearing it with this top too!

Diane - you're so sweet for asking about how I'm feeling :) I'm hanging in there. I'm very uncomfortable but I wouldn't say the pain is unmanageable and I'm very tired but have been going to bed early (like 8:30 early!). It's all good.

Suz - I have to admit that I actually prefer these boots to the Marcie's. Not only more comfortable but I'm finding a little bit more versatile too.

Thanks for the lovely comments ladies :)

Christianne - "moto blouse" - love that!

Gorgeous. Loving the booties with the skirt - YOUR look. xo

  • Joy replied 9 years ago

It all looks beautifully pulled together. The vibes of the Docs and new blouse look similar and the bag is the perfect finish.

  • jackiec replied 9 years ago

I like the blouse, but literally went WOW when I saw the docs with your skirt. So unexpected (to me) yet SO fab. Love it.

Love the look of the outfit.  well put together.  The blouse thingy looks like a great piece for layering too.

    Stunning!

I just adore the look of booties with the VC tube skirts. I have the solid black and the striped skirts, and have been thinking about adding the marbled one to my collection.

And Dusty Bottom is the perfect accessory. He reminds me so much of my Jasper :)

Love the blousey thing! Gives the look of a jacket or topper and seems like it will compliment loads of wardrobe items. So would this be a statement piece?

  • replied 9 years ago

Cute!  I love it when a woman knows what she likes, and wears it with confidence and polished style.  (the boots and skirt combo ) .

Okay, yay, and no fair! I mentioned earlier wanting everything you wear and now beside you being fab I have the other reason. Your overheated office is my overheated climate! So many of your Spring/Summer/Fall tops would work for my Fall/Winter/Spring wardrobe.

And the no fair part is when I can't get them...boo! Of course you probably don't want a copy cat. :)

My husband had shingles. Yuck. He did recover fairly quickly and I'm wishing you the same!

  • thimblelina replied 9 years ago

That is exactly the kindy of thingy I need!

As always I love how you do sophisticated outfit with stompy boots and are totally fab.

  • jenanded replied 9 years ago

Sigh... you look great ... again! Even your lippy looks great in this outfit.

Now is 'blouse thingy' the technical term? LOL  This is super duper fantastic.  The top is really stunning Shannon and that skirt is one of my (many) favourites in your wardrobe. The blouse is elegant, modern, a touch edgy and I imagine will work well with many of your bottoms, and I suspect it is a very comfortable garment to wear.  Very nice.

  • unfrumped replied 9 years ago

Looks really good! Akin to what I might have called a shirt- jacket, but modernized. From time to time I luck into something like that and it works great for FFBO , too.

  • Lynne replied 9 years ago

I love the blousy thing!  And you've styled it brilliantly :).

  • replied 9 years ago

Looks great, Shannon! I like the volume of the top over the pencil skirt.

You're working through the shingles?  OK, they need to give you a big bonus - you are dedicated.

You also look terrific.  Thingy is rockin', and the look is very sleek and slightly RATE.
