WIW: Navy Ankle Pant Suit

Today's outfit started with my "faux" navy ankle pant suit. I bought the blazer several weeks ago from one store and then on the weekend found the ankle pants in another store - exact same shade of navy. Don't you love it when that happens?

I then added a bright orange and blue drapey tank that was love at first sight. Orange is such a happy color.

Nude kitten heels, cobalt quilted leather handbag, and gold locket (was my grandmother's) and orange/red bead necklace finish off the outfit.

I apologize for the poor picture quality. I need to find a better spot.

Feedback, critique, suggestions all welcome.

Blazer and tank: Reitmans Petite
Cropped pants: Mark's Work Warehouse
Shoes: Clarks
Handbag: Danier Leather

Ylf, is that a zipper detail on the pockets? I love that you rolled the sleeves. My eye keeps being drawn to that bag.

Looks great. What a lucky find...it was meant to be! Your hair is looking fab, btw.

  • El Cee replied 7 years ago

You look gorgeous in your "faux suit", Shannon. What a lucky find to get two separate navy pieces that match so well. The tank is fabulous. I love the cheerful print.

  • Suz replied 7 years ago

Beautiful, Shannon! It's so great to see your smiling face in the morning. Lucky find with the pants -- they look fab on you.

I absolutely love how you have come full circle but with updates in your style. You are a perfect illustration of the "modern" in modern classic.

I really love this! Great blouse, love the colors and print!

OHOHOH! The tank is such a happy statement piece and it is brilliant to the suit! Gorgeous! Love the tan shoes and the color block bag to it, they are both elevating the outfit even more(if possible at all:-)).

I just adore suits and this one really looks fab on you. I am loving the pop of orange, I think it adds a lively vibe to the classic proportions. It is a happy color for sure. Best accessory is your lovely smile.

Looks great! Love the bright top and the purse is perfect with it.

  • Gail replied 7 years ago

Ooh love the orange top with the suit , makes you sparkle.

  • Sara L. replied 7 years ago

I love the bright top with your navy suit.  It's so modern and springy.  What a lucky find to have the navy match in the two different pieces!

Oh - what a nice suiting look!  Love you in orange too !  And what a crazy/lucky find that was to pick up two pieces in the same shade of navy.  The pairing of your locket and stone necklace is great - really nice styling there.

Have a great day - looks wonderful out there today ! (I wouldn't know - being locked in my office for the morning - lol)

Ledonna - yes, there are silver zippers on the pockets of the blazer. Don't you love clothes that have built in bling?

Aquamarine - thanks for the hair compliment. I actually go this evening for the next shaping of the style. I'm looking forward to it starting to look more intentional.

El Cee - I bought the cropped pants without thinking of the blazer and then when I got them home, I thought ... "hmmm...wonder if they'll match..." a happy surprise.

Suz - it's funny how as soon as I stopped trying so hard, I seem to have returned to many of my former loves - blazer, interesting footwear, jewelry, statement handbags. I'm really going with what just feels good these days and am considering my style "organic".

Lyn - I didn't think of that - I guess this tank is indeed a statement piece.

Marianna, Colette, Robin, Gail, Sara - thank you so much for your lovely comments :)

Lisa - it's actually your jewelry wearing skills that had me try the two necklaces together. Have never done that before. So thank you :) Hoping to get out for a walk at lunch time to enjoy the beautiful day. It's so cold in my office right how that you could keep cheese fresh on top of my desk!

You look wonderful. I have a photo saved from your blog of you in a citron puffer that inspires me fashion-wise, and this is that same colorful vibe. Wish you could go shopping with me. I really like how you put things together!

This looks great Shannon - love the navy with the bright orange. Love the way your hair looks and the lipcolor you are wearing too.

*Big happy sigh* You look soooo good Shannon! Love the colours, the perfect proportions and the gorgeous accessories.

  • tulle replied 7 years ago

You always look so pulled-together, Shannon--I think your color sense is a big part of that.  I've had a few of those serendipitous suit matchings; it's so satisfying when that happens.  Gorgeous top and bag, too.

  • catgirl replied 7 years ago

Shannon, it's such a joy to have you back posting outfits!  Love the new tank top in this outfit.

  • Maneera replied 7 years ago

Perfection. I can't think of anything that would say this better.

PS: I want to steal that bag!

What a great outfit! Your floral tank is beautiful and your hair looks amazing, but the best part is your gorgeous smile!

  • Jjsloane replied 7 years ago

So pretty! I love everything about it. I'm looking for a replacement nude pump and those look great. Off to check Clarks.

  • Lucy replied 7 years ago

What a delight! I like how you make office clothes interesting. The flash of orange is gorgeous.

  • Watson241 replied 7 years ago

    I am loving this look!

  • Karie replied 7 years ago

That orange top looks fun and summery paired with the blue. How lucky to find matching blue outfit items!

  • Firecracker (Sharan) replied 7 years ago

What a pretty way to wear a suit. That blouse brightens the look, and gives it such a modern elegance. The ankle pants and jacket are a great fit on you, too. Your shoes, bag, and accessories are spot on, as always.

  • MsMary replied 7 years ago

Love this! So happy to see your smiling face! :)

I agree with tulle: Your colour sense is amazing. I just love the bag with the top!

  • Jaime replied 7 years ago

Great mix and use of nude shoes with the long line of blue. You look fab!

  • Sal replied 7 years ago

    Absolutely great, lovely happy look!

  • Beth Ann replied 7 years ago

I'd like to have that shirt in my closet right now!

Love the combo, Shannon, and I love your excellent proportions here.  Beautiful "suit"!

  • Elizabeth P replied 7 years ago

Love this Shannon, your proportions are bang on.

  • goldenpig replied 7 years ago

You are just knocking it out of the park with every outfit! Love the navy suit and orange floral top together. Proportions are perfect. That's the way to do a suit! Oh and I also love finding unexpected exact matchy matchy pieces (usually matching my outfit with my purse), like my Kate Spade polka dot bag and VC polka dot skirt or the Brahmin striped bag and VC striped skirt, or the Marc Jacobs snake polka dot purse with the fish bow pumps (so sad you don't have those anymore!).

  • Eliza replied 7 years ago

This look is spring sunshine on you! Love the way the top plays with the pants and jacket. Nice proportions and great colors. Plus your hair has edge and yet is classic; like you! Well done.
