This is perfection. I love the boots with this dress, so much so I almost can't stand it!! And then the pop of color with the jacket is fun and cool at the same time. You have turned what is essentially a very classic dress into a totally edgy outfit. I feel a copy cat coming on... Only it will have to be a winterized version:)

This outfit has the cool factor with the boots. I may have to copy it too although i don't think I have an Doc Maartens plus it's 90 degrees here in DC. :)

Utterly adorable, and I'm having late 1980s-early '90s flashbacks--the boots, the belt. Just love this!!

This is fantastic! A formula well worth keeping and repeating.

What a great formula. Look how fab your legs look in the mid calf boots and short skirt.
Did you ever think about a denim jacket in a saturated primary color like red or yellow. I feel like clear fully saturated brights are more flattering for you.

PS - I am wearing head to toe black today too.

Very cool! I love how the belt echoes the vibe of the boots. Perfect!

Absolutely perfect.

So much fun!!
I would copy this in a second if I had a funky belt like yours. As it is, I may have to copy anyway!
Shannon, your "go-tos" are so fantastic, they are really all you need. You have honed your style so well.

I love it! I especially love how the denim jacket just a weee bit softens the look with the feminine color. But I loved it before the denim too.

The proportions look great. I may also have to copy the peachy jacket with black dress and heavy black belt, but have nothing like your Doc Marcies. Maybe nude/tan booties?

Stunning! Very, very Shannon all through

It's your formula for a reason! The peach jacket lightens and softens the black dress up nicely. Good luck on your day!

Supah fab!!

Great formula! You really know your style and it works!

Thank you all so much - I feel so completely comfortable in this ensemble and it really has become my "go to" type of look.
Rita - I completely agree and if a cropped saturated coloured jacket should be spotted in my travels, I will definitely be taking a look! What colour though do you think? Green? Purple? Cobalt blue? Yellow? Orange? (I'm kind of thinking yellow or orange)

Diana replied 11 years ago
Love love love! The jacket is great but I actually prefer it without - the shape/proportions and the boot/dress/belt combo is just perfect on its own.

I love the sheath combined with the added funky style of the belt and boots. This looks like fab Shannon style to me!

Wow, that's a great outfit! Love the belt and boots. I want to raid your closet. ;-)

I love the style vibe of this outfit. The belt and boots first caught my eye on the thumbnail, but it looks great enlarged too and with the cropped jacket.

Nothing wrong with a formula!! I like the boots with the dress on you and in this pairing (and normally, honestly, booties with a bare leg are not my thing) because they are well proportioned.

Welcome back Shannon style! :)

Black and pink. Tough and sweet. Yep, this is you!
I'm with Rae that a really saturated jacket would be fab, too!

HOW could you forget to mention the belt in your credits? That belt makes the outfit! And the clutch, and the boots, okay, well never mind! I love this on you! The boots should not work, but they do! Every time. I can't believe you thrifted everything but the boots. And if you don't need the sun-washed red jacket for anything else, it would be a cinch to dye it orange or red or red-orange. Just ask Rae, the dye queen!

I love it without the jacket.

Transcona Shannon replied 11 years ago
Anna/Diana - I took the jacket off at lunch time once it got warm enough in the office and I had compliments on how the dress looked on it's own - thanks for the tip!
Claire - oops sorry about the no belt credit. It's thrifted so no label.
Thanks you everyone for popping by!
