WIW: Lotsa white

Today's outfit started with my bone laser cut oxfords - I've been looking forward to it being warm enough to wear these shoes. This will be their 3rd spring/summer and I'm still loving them. Do you ever start your outfit with your footwear?

I've paired the oxfords with my white jeans and then added my brilliant cobalt blue (with subtle black print) pleated and drapey tank. Over top of that, I've popped on my white leather jacket.

I went with my yellow/cobalt clutch (the zipper matches the colour of my top), red specs, silver Haida wedding band and subtle pink lip for accessories.

What do you think? As always, all comments/suggestions welcome. Now I just have to be careful not to spill coffee on myself on the drive to work…

Jacket: Danier Leather
Tank: Smart Set
Jeans: Jessica Simpson
Shoes: Dolce Vita
Clutch: Trouve

Shannon this looks fabulous! White and cobalt is such a stunning color combination. And yes, I often start with the footwear!

Love the white with the blue. Looks fab and very crisp for spring. I'd be right there with you on the fear of spilling coffee on myself, though (but that's because I'm a klutz) :-)

I think the only thing I'm not crazy about is the bag with it. For some reason the very yellow/ivory of the python skin feels discordant with the white and bold blue. I don't think it looks bad at all. Just for some reason it doesn't resonate with me as much as something like a caramel or medium brown bag or other pop of color bag might have.

...and I totally hear you on the building an outfit around shoes. I do that all the time!

Great look, Shannon. I really wish I had picked up a white leather jacket last year!

Shannon, you look great! This jacket just wows me. It was a case of PPP in the best possible way! Love it.

Good morning Shannon, You always look so good and this day is no exception. Like those white jeans. I really enjoy wearing mine also. I hadn't seen your glasses before today and I must say they are really complimentary.

Nice and bright outfit! Yes, you really need to be careful so that it stays neat, that's the reason I tend to avoid too much white.

You look sharp and professional in white and cobalt. I love your shoe collection! The weather so often determines what I wear and that starts with the feet.

That is a great look, love the white with the cobalt!

Shannon- you are hitting early spring dressing out of the park.  Your jacket is amazing and I love those feminized oxfords on you.  Beautiful!

Lovely!! Pretty daring to wear white for an entire day! You are brave :)

Do I make my outfits around my shoes? Yes! When I desperately want to wear a pair!

When I start an outfit with footwear, it's usually because the occasion demands it:  It's rainy, or I'll have a lot of walking to do, or I need to be tall to slightly intimidate my students in the studio before finals (lol).  Rarely, do I start with shoes because they're so fab --- but yours definitely are!

Love your way with whites -- mixing tones of whites, different textures.  The fits are wonderfully modern, and I find the shoulders and neckline in the jacket particularly flattering.  And of course, there's cobalt!

Pre YLF I didn't even own anything white and now look at me! Angie - what have you done??? Lol!

Beth Ann - it's interesting you mention the different tones of white. This is something that I have finally warmed up to. Angie shows us how cream, bone, optic white - they can all mix effortlessly together. They don't need to be the exact same shade. This was a major revelation to me.

Leopardluxe - thank you for the handbag suggestion. I'll have to give that a whirl.

Ceit - there's always white jackets available at Danier...just sayin'...

Suz - this jacket is the PERFECT example of PPP. So glad I waited.

Thank you for your comments all :)

You look great!  I love the contrast of the blue and white.  I start outfits with shoes all the time.  In fact, that's how I came up with today's outfit.

PPP :) I love the jacket YLF.

Such a great look for you, Shannon! I really like your cobalt top with the whites. Great bag!

  • Aida replied 9 years ago

You had me with the title Shannon! Love it, so super with the rich cobalt.

EDIT: Re the shoes, so so often! With volatile weather half the year, footwear is such a big part of my outfit consideration that I am often starting there. Or at the very least, a category of footwear ("today is boot weather", "today I could squeak by with flat high vamps", etc.).

  • Kiwichik replied 9 years ago

Haha I think I am your photographic negative today - love the white on white.
