WIW: Lotsa black & the other specs

Good morning beautiful Fabbers :)

It's funny how since I downsized my wardrobe, I'm having an absolute blast wearing the "heck out of my clothes" (as Angie would say). And yet I don't feel like I'm over repeating nor wearing ensembles in the exact same way each time. Hmmmm…might  have to do a post on this and how I think I've reached the right number of items in my closet.

Anyway, on to today's outfit. I started with my ponte knit leggings and then added my asymmetrical black/light grey mixed media top (waving to leggings and top twin Elizabeth). Then as a topper I chose the YLF lemming Spiegel leather jacket.

For footwear, I chose my trusty Docs and I grabbed my black leather with gold hardware handbag.

I've been wearing my red specs a ton lately and have neglected my purple/clear pair. So today I grabbed those specs and I really like how the clear part semi-mimics the light grey in the topper as well as brings lightness to my face. I finished off the outfit with a swipe of berry coloured lipstick and I'm ready to go.

So what do you think - does it all work together? Proportions ok? As always, all comments/suggestions welcome.

Jacket: Spiegel
Top & handbag: Danier Leather
Leggings: NYDJ
Boots: Doc Martens

Love it!  But then, you knew I would :). It reminds me a bit of the outfit Dashielle posted a week or so ago with the floaty silk EF top, and I was wondering if a similar look could be achieved with this top.  But I didn't actually try it!

Been kicking myself for a while at not jumping on that Spiegal jacket when it was what... $25?  Then I could totally copy you :)

Yes, please do.  This is what I was getting at with my comment in your thread yesterday (or was it the day before?).  I think your thoughts on this would be really valuable.  Esp as you are one of the few people who post every day, so we really get to SEE the repeats, and how they don't look like repeats.

Gorgeous, Shannon, and I like the change up of specs. So nice to have options, right?

I would love if you would do a post on your current numbers. What do you have in rotation now (not counting the out of season, not in rotation clothes). I can chime in, because I think I have pretty much reached my "perfect" number (give or take maybe 10 items or so either way) and I would love to compare. I have also been keeping track of wears so I can add that in for reference. I know you haven't, but my numbers might give you some rough idea of where you would be, too, in that regard. I agree with Elizabeth that your post would be valuable since you post WIWs quite often and people see. I have been taking fairly regular pics and posting but not as daily WIWs -- more as weekly or "type of outfit" roundups, or as K/Rs (a few) or as Angie capsules. So the patterns are not as visible in my posts.

You look amazing!  I love the top. It's vibrant, fun and the perfect statement piece against the black.

Love the floaty grey top over black pants! Your purple specs are a nice change :)

I love how the alternate specs change the vibe. Very cool. makes me resolve to wear my alternative specs more often.

    Love it!

FABULOUS. I like how the pattern breaks up the black - and another pair of great specs. xo

Elizabeth - I think I ended up paying $29 for the jacket and again, a huge thanks to Amiable who shipped it to me :)

Elizabeth & Suz - will do a quick count in my closet tonight and write up a post. I'm quite surprised by how much I'm enjoying the smaller wardrobe. I feel much less overwhelmed.

Thanks so much Thistle, Jackie, Diane, Nebraskim, Golden and Angie :)

Hmmm...I wonder if my bone colored leather jacket would work with this top...

love the new glasses. and i'm wondering is having less choice actaully gives you more freedom to think about what you do have, and so you are mixing and matching more creatively. i do remember hearing something recently about too much choice being a distraction.

That's because you enjoy them and you look spectacular in what you've kept. Love the new specs, Shannon.

I wanted to tell you that you really have inspired me to shake up my wardrobe a bit. I like almost every photo you post, and when I bought a grey A-shaped dress (it's almost like a big sweatshirt, really) I styled it with black leggings and black short boots. I looked at it and thought THAT's what I wanted to look like! And it's mostly because of your outfits. So, thanks.
