WIW: Leather & Oxfords

Ugggghhhh...winter just refuses to leave so once again, my outfit is a little dark and heavy for spring but perfectly appropriate for our actual weather.

I started with my black slouchy trousers and paired them with an animal print silk-blend, knot-front tee. On top of that I added my black leather blazer (have I mentioned how much I LOVE this jacket?). I decided to pull out the lighter tones in the tee by wearing my tri-tone patent leather oxfords and then because I was too lazy to change my handbag, have a pop of red.

Does it all work together? As always, all comments/suggestions welcome.

Blazer: Danier Leather
Tee: Nygard
Trousers: Lord & Taylor
Shoes: Jeffrey Campbell
Handbag: Nine West (thrifted)
Belt: Danier Leather

I've had my eye on those shoes. I love what you've done with them! The styling on this is so spot on (pun intended!) I love the sharp shoulders of the jacket mixed with more organic and retro elements (blouse and shoes). You look fantastic!

You might have just mentioned it a couple of times about your jacket, but who's counting :) I love the pop of red (a Shannon signature) Yes I think it all works beautifully. And HURRY UP SPRING!

That jacket is a keystone, a signature and a statement all in one! I love it each time you wear it. And I love the oxfords. And the slouchy trousers. And how the t works here. Sorry about the weather though!

Oooohhhh. I love this look Shannon! It's very rocker chic! I know, Winter is just holding on, isn't it? Be gone!

Verty edgy and well put together. The shoes are great! The outfit says "I'm in charge"
    Well done.

I love our (oops! I mean YOUR) jacket, too!!

I hear you on the weather. It is COLD here today.

    Leather + Silk = Heaven!

Looks great Shannon - I love that jacket on you. I think you feel about winter the way I feel about Texas summer - esp. around late September.

I love those shoes!!! If I could wear the higher heel I would steal them off your feet.

Love the mix of pattern, texture and colour here. The red bag is the perfect foil to a great outfit. Gorgeous!

I think you need a cream or taupe belt.

Cold and miserable here as well! But YLF! Love those shoes, and you styled them so well!

  • rae replied 11 years ago

Big fun! The leopard with the shoes is beyond genius. I guess the plus side of a long winter is that you get to wear the heck out of your leathers!

Fierce and fun! And I have to run :)

    KILLER jacket you gorgeous creature.

Suz - I wonder if the taupe version of "our" jacket would work on me as well, in terms of colouring? This is without a doubt the best fitting leather jacket I've ever tried on and oh so comfy.

Anna - I totally agree - need BOTH a cream and a taupe belt. Off to shop...

    Thanks everyone :)

I love the idea of a lighter belt, but I think this combo is fabulous! There is nothing like a well-fitting jacket to make you feel good, you know? Ready to take on the world, even if spring is not cooperating quite yet (I can relate, because yesterday in my Great Lakes region of the US, I was driving in blizzard-like conditions!).

  • Suz replied 11 years ago

Shannon, the only way to know if it would look good is to try!! (She said....not TRYING to enable, exactly...).

I think it WOULD look good on you, frankly. It is ALMOST the same colour as our portobello skirt. In fact, if one wanted to make a "suit" of those two pieces, one could...although I'm not sure the textural interest on both would be compatible. I have laid them out together and considered it, but haven't actually put them on my body together.

I have to tell you that I am tempted to get the black one for myself!

You look fabtastic! Why are all the best shoes available in Winnipeg, Canada? You really do have an enviable selection. The jacket - oh. I'm not even talking about that one. Did I mention that you look radiant today?

Too bad with the miserably cold weather, we are experiencing the same here. Let's hope the wind turns and brings Spring along really soon.

  • replied 11 years ago

Ok, you know what? I think I MUST have this jacket. I think black would work better for me, but you both look so awesome in it, I can't resist.

I have some bills to clear first, and then I think this jacket is going to the top of my list, even if I don't get to wear it until fall!

  • Bree replied 11 years ago

You always look so fantastic! I love the red bag with the outfit too!

Love the jacket and of course have admired those shoes on several occasions! I too am on the hunt for a good white/cream belt... will keep you updated of any successful brands there.

So late ---- wanted to pop in and say you look like a jazz musician ---- or a hoofer, with those shoes. So relaxed and easy!
