WIW: Grad Dinner & Dance

My husband and I just got home from DS's grad dinner & dance. The graduates stay there until midnight when the bus takes them to Safe Grad. Then we have to go and pick our son up at 4:00 a.m. from the club that Safe Grad is taking place at. It's been a looooooooong day!

Anyway - here's what I wore to the festivities. I started with my navy lace sleeveless dress and wore/carried a navy taffeta wrap (made by Wonder Woman). i wore my taupe pointy toe kitten heels for footwear - originally I was going to wear a pair of strappy heels but I really wanted my feet to be comfy and happy so went with these pumps. And I'm glad I did - we were parked quite the distance from the hotel. My handbag is a new blush coloured leather clutch with gold studs on the handle. Jewelry was my gold wedding ring and a large cocktail ring on the other hand. I was really happy with how my outfit felt appropriate but not over-the-top. I felt both elegant and comfortable.

Pic #4 is DS in his "finery". Poor boy really has to work on getting the tie knot right - lol! But I thought he looked very handsome. Can you tell he really REALLY hates to have his picture taken?

Pic #5 is DS and I - as you can tell, he doesn't get his height from me!

Pic #6 - a random gentleman in the hotel lobby offered to take this pic. It's not well taken nor particularly flattering, but hey - it's still hubby, DS and I :)

Well there you have it. A milestone for our family under our belt. Now onward...

So cute!!!  Your son looks more comfortable in his pic with you.  I love Wonder Woman's wrap -- so classy.  You really have a gem in her.

Ummmm, why couldn't they make pick-up time at least 6 a.m. or even later?  I would have paid a few extra bucks for a more reasonable time. . . .

It's lovely to have the photo of the three of you, as you say a milestone.
You look fantastic Shannon - really beautiful.

I've been looking forward to seeing this outfit on after wonder woman worked her magic. Just wonderful. Elegant, classy and feminine.

  • Joy replied 10 years ago

Wonder Woman outdid herself making the dress perfect and the wrap. You are just stunning!!
Your son looks so handsome in his version of a suit. Congratulations.

  • rae replied 10 years ago

Wow, wow, wow! You are stealing the show in that outfit. Now I truly understand how fab Wonder Woman is for producing that wrap for you - it is just stunning to see you in the different textures of blue. DS looks great, too. He may not have your height, but he has your flair for style!

  • Kari replied 10 years ago

Stunning, all of you!  Glad that it was a fun night!

4 AM!  Holy moley.  I think our pick up time was at 6 or 7 back in the day.  I was so tired; I've NEVER been good at pulling all nighters, and I would have been happy to leave around 1.

  • Deborah replied 10 years ago

You look stunning Shannon and the men look pretty fine too.  I hadn't realized how tall your son is until I saw the group pic.

  • Glory replied 10 years ago

Very nice - everyone looks fab. The dress worked out so well - thanks to Wonder woman and her talents. DS is so tall, handsome and grown up. I hope  he had a wonderful time at prom last night with many moments to remembers for a lifetime.

OMGoodness Shannon, you look STUNNING! The dress, the wrap, the clutch, the shoes - perfectly beautiful. I love the last pic - the picture taker captured your gorgeous smile, which says it all! Congrats, proud momma!

  • Beth Ann replied 10 years ago

Beautiful outfit, and handsome familly!  You're right that this outfit blends elegance and comfort "features," which is so important on a marathon night like this on was.

    Congratulations on raising your son!

  • Sara L. replied 10 years ago

You are glowing!  Your pride and happiness shows through in these photos!  You family photo is cute with the varied expresssions on everyone's faces.

  • replied 10 years ago

What a sharp looking family! You must be so proud of DS, and it's great to see him in one of his many suiting options. Nice!

Your lace dress is just spectacular, and I love that it's navy, and not black. So special, and like you said, not over the top in any way. The new clutch is stellar, and I forgot to look at your shoes. That's how well they just blended in and how the eye was drawn upwards, so no worries that you went for the comfy ones. I hope you can catch up on your sleep soon, those festivities sound exhausting!

  • Angie replied 10 years ago

Shannon, you have never looked more elegant and stunning. KILLER to the power of KILLER!!!! WOW!!!

And your boys are dashing devils. Such a proud family. xox

Congratulations! Both this and the outfit you wore to the graduation ceremony itself were  dressy best. I love the way your legs look in this dress. So glad wonder woman came through. Not only your happiness at this joyous event but your confidence in you and your style choices shines through!

  • Suz replied 10 years ago

Shannon, you look absolutely stunning!! Glowing with loveliness. I adore the wrap -- its slight retro feel is perfect with the contemporary clutch (where did you find that, you devil?) and with the shoes. And your dress looks altered to perfection! So glad.

As for the handsome graduate, he looks just like his mother! Congratulations to him and to your entire family. He has triumphed over some very difficult circumstances and can be very proud of himself for all he has achieved so far. When I consider what he has been through and how well he managed it all, I get goosebumps. Please tell him that he is already an inspiration to my daughter, about to enter high school, with a history of being bullied behind her. His story will help her as she moves forward.

Your whole family looks terrific, even in the cold light of a stranger's mug shot!

  • texstyle replied 10 years ago

Wonderful!  Love that you decided to go with this dress and that you have wonder woman.

  • Thistle replied 10 years ago

You look gorgeous. And happy. And proud.  Congratualtions to your son and your family!!

And you son looks very handsome (and TALL!!) as does his father!

  • unfrumped replied 10 years ago

    Great choices; gorgeous family photo.
And while you all look great,  you're right, the big deal is getting a young one through high school.  Huge  milestone to have that diploma, no matter what comes next. Never take that for granted--so many ways kids can get derailed on the way. Big congrats!

  • rachylou replied 10 years ago

You have a handsome boy there. I can't believe how fancy y'all got for graduation. Dinner and dance. Pretty nifty. The navy is lovely. Just right I suspect.

  • columbine(erin) replied 10 years ago

Wow! You and your family really look fantastic.

  • Inge replied 10 years ago

Shannon!! You take my breath away__
You look absolutely stunning. So elegant and chic. The lace dress was definitely the right choice, and that wrap, marvelous!!
Your boys look super handsome too (I'm still smiling thinking about the fab customer service your son got when he went to buy his outfit).

Big congrats to your son and the entire family!!!
