WIW: For the return of the deep freeze

We had about three days of normal to above normal temperatures and now we're back in the deep freeze. Time to pull out the faux fur vest!

I started the outfit with my burgundy skinnies and added a simple black 3/4 sleeve pullover, and semi tucked with a black leather belt. Then I topped that with my dark espresso faux fur vest. Footwear choice is my black patent booties - I like how the shine of the vest bookends the shine of the patent. I went with my oversized animal print clutch for a handbag and jewelry is my gold wedding band and rose gold/black watch. My glasses today are the purple and clear ones - I think the purple works really well with this outfit.

What do you think? does it all work together? As always, all comments/suggestions welcome.

Looks super, Shannon! We are drowning in rain and ice right now, but I guess your weather will mean a cold snap for us in a few days!

    Hello, Vest Almost-Twin!

I think it all goes, though it might have a little more splash with a lighter-colored layer under the vest?  Actually, I just went back and read that the skinnies are burgundy (on my monitor I thought dark brown) so that might be splashy enough.

    Terrific mix.

    Looks warm

You look so chic and cozy. Love how you've bookended your burgundy jeans with your new purple glasses. Your snake handbag is fabulous. Like Ceit, we are having a warm spell and are getting a ton of rain today. A cold snap comes again early next week… with more snow. Crazy!

Sporty but sleek with all the great textures. I love vests and wish I could figure out how to add some.

I noticed how well the glasses work here too - wonderful mix!

So pretty Shannon!! Soft and elegant and the bag really makes everything to pop!! Bag is wonderful with your hair!

    Pretty! Stay warm.

So with you , Shannon. It rained and we had thunderstorms yesterday. Today we have 50 MPH winds. Just awful as all that water froze solid!

You look so fab! Love the vest as a warm and fashionable way to keep up with the weather.

Looks gorgeous!  Our weather is copying yours - back to freezing today after a couple of days in the 60s.  Makes me think Spring can't be too far away!

  • Joy replied 10 years ago

I'm almost tempted to pull out the furry vest I put away to try a version of your outfit. I like this way of wearing the burgundy skinnies.
Where did you find the great animal print clutch? As Gryffin noted, I bookends your hair.

So great!  I didn't think I'd like a fur vest but this looks fabulous!  It's not an over-the-top fur vest, it looks just perfect.

  • Karie replied 10 years ago

You look fantastic! I love the purse and the shoes. And could you please not send that cold Canadian air my way? We are getting pummeled with rain and ice right now, and I'd prefer to keep it as rain and not snow!

  • Suz replied 10 years ago

What Ceit said!! I guess your weather is on our way. You look super cute in this.

  • Helena replied 10 years ago

Looks fantastic, works like a charm.

If you could keep the weather though, that'd be great; I have no more room for snow on my property - we're full!! ;)

I love the furry vest and think it looks great with your outfit.  Warm and cozy for a cold day.

Cuddly and luxurious.  The color palette is very sophisticated, which keeps the look "work casual" is you know what I mean.

Sounds like most of you are having horrible weather again too! Aren't you just reading for this winter to be over??? I heard on our news last night that this is the coldest winter we have had in the last 54 years (2nd coldest in the last 102 years) and the highest snowfall accumulation in the last 18 years. Like torontogirl, we have no where left to throw the snow.

Joy - I realize I forgot to put where I got the clutch in my post. Sorry 'bout that. The clutch is brand XOXO and I actually thrifted it. It was a great find and I love the oversizeness (is that a word?) of it.

Thanks for the kind words ladies and stay warm everyone :)

Taking notes for my faux fur vest! It's weird it hasn't come out to play at all the entire winter. I loved it so much when I bought it :(

I am *almost* jealous you rock your fur vest :D

  • carambola replied 10 years ago

Love this! Cozy and luxe at the same time.

    Killer

You have the best style in the Frozen Tundra.

    Love the spiky 'do. xo

I know you said on another post that you had some excess weight you wanted to lose.  Well I would never guess that by these pics.  You look slim, trim and tall!  And I'm so over this winter too.  Do you think if we all start collectively buying spring clothing it will help speed spring along?

  • MsMary replied 10 years ago

Very  nice!  I love that fur vest!

  • Marmee replied 10 years ago

Looks great!  I like how you've highlighted the vest by keeping the rest of your outfit simple.
