WIW: Flower Power

Today is the debut of my newly thrifted floral blazer - I can't believe how much I've fallen in love with florals this season! I've paired it with my black midi pencil skirt and a simple black tank. I'm wearing my Fly London sandals and a pink Hermes knock-off handbag to pull the lighter pink colour out of the jacket. No other jewelry today.

What do you think? Are you enjoying crazy florals this season like I am? How are the proportions? As always, all comments/suggestions welcome.

Blazer: thrifted (no label)
Tank: Gap
Skirt: Taifun Collection (thrifted)
Sandals: Fly London
Handbag: Hermes - knock off (consignment)

oh. my. goodness! Shannon, you're an inspiration. You look SO FAB! This is some very advanced colour matching indeed. Love the delicacy of the sandals with the very solid dress, the lightness of that pink on top of that and that wonderful 'coat of all colours' pulling it all together. Enviably chic.

This is easily one of your best ever!

Beautiful outfit Shannon! No suggestions, as it is perfect already!

Beautiful. I particularly like how the colors of the jacket look so dramatic against the black.

So pretty! I love the colors on that jacket.

Gorgeous!! This is one of my favorite outfits on you. The colors in the jacket are perfect and really light up your face. I love how you styled it with simple black and the sandals add a little edge which keeps the jacket from looking dated at all. I also love that you pulled out the light pink color with the bag.

I am loving all the crazy prints and florals! I have a magnetic eye toward them right now. I have a ton of print . I need a few more dresses and I had to really talk myself into going with some solids so I would have some better mixing options come fall.

Happy, pretty and retro! A solid 10.

Florals are SO retro, Shannon. I am happy that you rediscovered them this season. Don't give them up for Winter!

  • Transcona Shannon replied 11 years ago

Thanks ladies - it was Angie who suggested I pair the floral blazer with my black midi. Once again, she was spot on!

Angie - how do I wear florals in winter? I tend to think of them as only a summertime item.

  • Suz replied 11 years ago

Shannon, this is fab! I SO love those Fly sandals, BTW.

Of course you can wear florals in winter! But they might be differently coloured, or in a different fabrication. Kari and Celia and I all own the same abstract floral midi dress from sadly-missed Cassis. Black and white florals would work. I can imagine lots of possibilities. Even some of the brights. Just not light cotton ones.

    Shannon,
You have a great column of black under that beautiful blazer! The pink handbag really pulls the pink tones in the blazer and I absolutely love the tough but chic sandals! Perfect outfit and consider it "pinned".

Just looking at your lovely new blazer makes me happy! What a great find, and such a terrific outfit!

Oh I love this! That blazer is so perfect--I can't believe it's thrifted!!! So fab with the black midi. The sandals are perfect and I love your new bag (although I might have worn Kelly with this). ;)

  • Kirti replied 11 years ago

Totally killer! I love this jacket!

  • rae replied 11 years ago

Woohoo! These bright florals love you right back, Shannon. The soft pink bag is a lovely counterpoint to the brightness and saturation.

I think the florals will look great in the cooler months, too! Maybe with charcoal?

  • MsMary replied 11 years ago

Wow, this is a great look! That jacket is the find of the century!

  • Aida replied 11 years ago

Fun jacket, you do wear florals so well with your retro side Shannon! I really like dark moody florals for fall/winter, even though I don't currently wear them.

(As an aside I just bought a bag that looks almost the same as yours here, down to the pinkish color!)

  • Transcona Shannon replied 11 years ago

Oh thank you so much Suz, Meredith, Jamie, Claire, Kirti, Rae, MaryK and Aida. I will definitely need all of you to help me figure out florals come fall!

Aida - I just saw your handbag that looks similar - clearly we both have great taste - LOL!

  • Sveta replied 11 years ago

Super fab, Shannon! You are blossoming together with these florals!
Unfortunately I still could not find anything floral I like. Definitely this is not my floral season :-(

  • Transcona Shannon replied 11 years ago

Don't give up Sveta - I was sure I wasn't going to find a floral blazer (and to be honest, wasn't even looking) when this one just showed up in a Value Village of all places. Never say never!

You really have the magic touch Shannon. I love this outfit!
