WIW: floral & cargo

TGIF!

Today's outfit started with my silky floral bomber - the pictures do not do this piece justice. I have completely changed my mind about polyester based on today's excellent quality. This bomber feels like silk, drapes and moves with beautiful fluidity and can be machine washed. What more can you want?

I've paired the bomber with a simple black tank, semi tucked into my olive cargo pants. I've added a black leather belt and chose my pewter small wedge open toe pumps for footwear (more on footwear on a separate post later). A soft pink lip and my purple/clear specs, as well as my black leather handbag finish off the outfit.

This looked better in my head I think…what say you oh wise ones? Does it work? As always, all comments/suggestions welcome.

Bomber & tank: Smart Set
Pants: Ricki's
Shoes: Mark's Work Warehouse
Handbag: Danier Leather

I don't know if the colours go, but the silhouette looks good! I need to check out Smart Set -- they haven't been wowing me lately, but I haven't been in this year yet to check them out!

Looking forward to your shoe post! I've been pleasantly surprised by Mark's Work Warehouse. Their Hanna fit is working nicely for me, and they do some longer pants lengths. They do a lot of natural fibre items, and I have liked their shoes, which more often then not are leather.

Your outfit looks office casual perfect to me! I'm loving how you style your bomber.

I really like it - chic spring casual :)

I like the bomber with the cargo pants, nice mixing of the more feminine top with the slightly more "rugged" bottoms.

If you are not sure about the outfit, I wonder how closed toed shoes would be. I think you have some oxfords that could be worth a try?  Just a thought for how to switch it up.

I see why that bomber has won your heart!  Washable no less.

I have a pair of pewter Cole Haan wedges that look exactly like these! I really like this outfit. It looks fluid and a bit dressy but comfortable. I wondered about the belt instead of a drapey top just draping, but think the belt is probably important for proportion control. Did you try the outfit without the belt? Big thumbs up. I have some silky track pants in my Return bag that may need rethinking.

Honestly, I'm not sure the fabulous tones of the colours in the jacket go with the tone of the colour of the pants.  But I do like the overall silhouette of this outfit.

    How is your foot today?

On my monitor, it looks like you are wearing a column of black with the bomber and it looks smashing!

I love the bomber. So perfectly your style, easy to care for, and comfy too. What more can you ask for!

Oh, yeah! These colours definitely work for me! Pink floral bomber and dark grey/khaki pants, no? What a fun jacket!!! Great outfit!

  • jackiec replied 9 years ago

I'm echoing Elizabeth P about the colour tones, but it could well be my monitor. I love the look about this - I think it looks fantastic! Hope your foot is feeling better :)

Love this. I like the slightly slouchy trousers with the bomber. It looks super chic!

I think what's throwing me off a bit is that the green shade in the bomber doesn't totally work with the olive green shade of the cargo pants. But I think I was hoping that the pink in the bomber paired with the olive green would fit Angie's "pink and olive" ensemble formula. Hmmm....will have to think on this some more.

Eliza - the oxfords I have are bone and I think would be too light with the rest of the outfit, no? Will try them on when I get home and see how they look. Thank you for the suggestion.

Joy - I actually need a belt on to keep these pants up - lol!

Thanks for chiming in ladies :)

What the bomber looks better in person? It looks pretty darn good in the pictures and those cargos were an inspired buy. You look great!

    Killer

You are a floral beauty. Hope the footsies are hanging in there. xo

I do see what you mean about the green tone in the jacket, but I like it and there is black in the jacket which helps a long way to making it gel. So It all works for me. YLF and TGIF!!

Fun outfit! Hard to tell on the color for me; the only green I see in the jacket is the teal shade. You've got a good eye, I am sure it is working perfectly well :)

I don't know what Smart Set is but I love the items you find there. This bomber is da bomb! Very Shannon and totally fab.

  • Karie replied 9 years ago

On my screen, the olive looks like a medium to dark olive, not a bright olive, which I think looks great with the pink and fine with the teal in your floral bomber. I like this combination, it looks fresh (the good fresh) and trendy!

It is hard to see colors on the computer screen but I like what I see. You wear florals so well, Shannon - ladylike and modern.
I am seriously considering this bomber as well although it must be pretty cropped on me :-) I don't think I saw it in my store though...

As far as I can see all the colours work perfectly - I think because of the dark background of the bomber jacket. I may be a lone voice and I preface this by saying I am not the greatest with trouser length but the scrunch at the bottom of the cargoes is looking a tiny bit off to me.

Love this, Shannon!  I think it's just a matter of seeing olive as a neutral -- like khaki.  I think it functions that way here, which is why the "different" greens don't bother me one bit.  I think the "mossy" color gives an earthy grounding to an exuberant floral.
