WIW: Feeling Neutral

Today I felt like wearing an all neutral colour palette and it's warm (and dry) enough today to bust out my new peep toe sandal booties (waving to twin Suz!).

My outfit started with my TR Brianna white BF jeans, cuffed twice in order to show the sandal booties. I then added my white/black animal print light weight knit pullover. I added a cognac belt (doesn't really show in the pics, does it?) and then semi tucked the pullover. This time I tucked more to the side instead of the centre as it gave the pullover a slight asymmetrical shape, which I'm really loving these days.

The sandal booties are a fabulous camel colour and I have the sneaky suspicion these are going to be somewhat of a game changer for my style - when I put them on this morning with the rolled jeans I kind of went "ooooh"…really like the effect and I don't find them leg shortening - of course, I could be in denial :)

I then grabbed my vintage Ralph Lauren cognac leather handbag, my rose gold/black watch, and red specs. Oh…and in honour of our fabulous guest blogger yesterday and Una's wonderful thread on changing up our hair, I've done just that - I normally wear my asymmetrical fringe down on my forehead and slightly swept to the side but today slicked it back a bit. Nice to change things up now and then.

Would love your thoughts on this outfit - does it all work together, are the proportions ok, does the vintage handbag work, and what do you think of the hair? As always, all comments/suggestions welcome.

Pullover: Cleo Petite
Jeans: True Religion Brianna
Belt: Danier Leather
Sandal booties: Steve Madden
Handbag: Ralph Lauren (vintage)

Awesome! Those booties are FAB!!! They look great with the rolled jeans. Top look and as you say, nice to mix it up a little bit!

Fabulous, Shannon! You look amazeballs! I love the slicked back hair and the booties are complete winners. You are making me think I might need to duplicate in the nude...hmmmm....

The only reason I didn't buy the nude was that I thought they were too similar to my taupe cage sandals and would split my wears -- which is probably true. Still...the block heel makes these ones slightly more wearable.

I like your hair up and off of your face like this !  Uh, oh, I sound like my mother :  "get your hair off of your face!!! "  Nice to know you can do this for a change!  Outfit is cute too - but reads very casual (I think because of the rolled white jeans).  That is not a negative at all, just an observation more than anything.  The cognac bag is perfect btw - what a great thing to own!

I think you look wonderful Shannon, as usual.  I can't believe you are wearing peep toe booties... we seem SO far away from that here.  And you're in freaking Winterpeg!!!

Q about the shoes....  I am going to get those same ones, in black.  I was going to order two sizes, to  see... but maybe you can help?  Save me a trip to return a pair?  Did you find them tts?  Slightly big, slightly small?  I seem to take one of two sizes on a regular basis, it's like I'm an 8.75 :), so not sure if I'm likely to go 8.5 or 9 in these.  I can't remember if we have other shoes the same for comparison.

Suz - and I'm thinking of duplicating them in black! How did they hold up for you with the walking in Israel? I'm finding them incredibly comfortable and they have really good arch support.

Lisa - ha! You did indeed sound a wee bit motherly there... :) Yes, the outfit is pretty casual. I'm lucky in that I don't need to dress "corporate" all the time here - there is quite a bit of leeway. I'm thinking this could be a good outfit for a casual coffee out with friends.

Elizabeth - for once Winnipeg gets to brag! As for the booties, I normally wear a 6.5 and was swimming in those so got the 6. In reading the reviews I've seen, I think they run a wee bit big. Based on that, I would suggest you go with the 8.5. Holy crap! That is A LOT of snow! Ours is completely gone and there are people starting to rake their lawns now.

Elizabeth - if I can hijack Shannon's post for a sec to chime in about those booties:  I tried them on and there was no way I could wear them - regardless of size. My foot and ankle swam in them. They are very roomy and loose - and I have very ordinary feet - or so I think I do .

YAY. Spring has sprung - and just in time for you to wear this killer look. LOVE IT.

Lisa - I agree. I have high volume feet and a thicker ankle and these work beautifully. They may not work for low volume feet. Elizabeth - you might want to check with Suz as she also has the booties and I think has slightly different feet than I do.

Angie - thank you for chiming in:) I hope your wrists/arms are starting to feel better? Please be careful not to overdo it :) :) :)

Great outfit - love those sandals and very glad it was warm enough to give them an outing.

Thank you for the input on the shoes Shannon and Lisa.  I have no problem with them not working, if that's the case... will order from the Bay, so free shipping and fairly easy returns.

Didn't realize Suz had them too, thank you.  I'll pm her.

Love it Shannon and in fact seeing your post this morning inspired me to wear my white jeans too.  I always look at the pics first *blush* and was thinking you had new glasses and then when I finally dragged myself to the text, I realized it was the hair that was different.  No one ever accused me of being overly observant.  I think the hair looks fab for a change of pace.

I am a stickler for the legline shortening effect and don't see it here at all.  I think these borderline nude sandals are going to be a great addition to your wardrobe this spring/summer.  Fab all around and I love the asymetrical look you achieved with your tuck.

Love everything about this Shannon!  Gorgeous booties.

Love love love Shannon - fabulous look, and I like what you've done with your bangs. It's great to change things up!

I had to rush back home and fix my comment on the sandal booties. Ordinary foot?  I do not. That sounded unnecessarily pompous and I sure didn't mean that. In fact, my foot (yes, only one) is normally abnormal, sadly.  Lol.

Fabulous, Shannon! A lovely chic outfit.

    OMG Elizabeth! That snow!!!

  • Nebraskim replied 8 years ago

I LOVE your hair that way. You look exceptionally sassy in your pix and poses today. Winning all around.

  • Transcona Shannon replied 8 years ago

Cheryle - I was so pumped to see you in white jeans today! We 'Peggers have to take advantage when it isn't raining or snowing :)

Merwoman - I'm quite enjoying wearing my hair a bit different today.

    Lisa - no worries :)

Nebraskim - "exceptionally sassy"? Thank you.

Thanks textstyle, Tanya, and Diane :)
