WIW: Faux Fur for Debomshelling

it is bitterly, bitterly cold here this week so the perfect time to wear the faux fur vest indoors. The other benefit of this vest, in addition to warmth, is the debomshelling factor it provides over the B44 dress.

I love this Bailey 44 tiered dress with its greys, navy and red and cream but I do feel a bit self conscious in it due to the body con fit so like to wear it with a topper to work. I will be cozy with my dark brown faux fur vest over top. I'm wearing my red booties and red quilted handbag for some colour and to bring out the red stripe in the dress. Jewelry is my gold wedding band and oversized gold watch.

I will be swapping the booties for my knee high Blondo Vergara boots and adding my red Land's End full length puffer on top of everything when I head out the door.

What do you think? Does it all work together and are the proportions ok? As always, all comments/suggestions welcome.

Vest: Jeanne Bekker
Dress: Bailey 44
Micro fishnets: Hue
Boots: Sam Edelman
Watch: thrifted

My fist thought was, if it's that cold you will need different boots! Love that you pulled the red out of the print.

I like it! I still haven't worn mine -- I need to get it into knightspace for me :)

Gorgeous! I'm taking notes! My next step will be to learn to use booties with more classic dresses and skirts (I have a huge collection) and you do that so well!!

I think it looks good :) I especially love the dress and booties combo!

  • Alecia replied 11 years ago

    Love it!

This is super - cosy and stylish. I love that vest on you and using it over the dress is a great idea.

Love! Just the perfect amount of red, and the fur vest is perfect with the dress!

Ditto what Shevia said about the red. I love this whole look on you.

Shannon - I adore how you have used the fur vest to debombshell the dress. I have several dresses that I would love to wear to the office but don't because of the body-con fit. You've now given me some inspiration on how to make them work at work!

This outfit is so much fun and looks fabulous on you. Thank you for sharing your thoughts when putting the outfit together.

Fabulous!! You look sensational in this dress, and even though I'm not a furry vest fan, I LOVE this one on you.

Tracey - there is definitely no way my legs are going to be exposed to that frigid air in these booties outside!

Ceit - I forgot you had this dress. You haven't worn it yet? Hmmm...does it not feel Knightly enough to you? Just funk it up with a pair of your boots and a fab RATE jacket or drapey cardi over top.

Rute - definitely try the booties with dresses. One caution though - it's addictive!

Shevia - thanks for the comment about the right amount of red. I was a wee bit worried that the red boots and red handbag might be a bit too much.

kimlee - a topper is the perfect way to debomshell anything body con - definitely give it a go!

Thanks Kirti, Alecia, missvee, Diane, Joy and Suz!

This makes me feel like I need a fur vest!!! It just adds the touch that the dress needs to make it work appropriate. I have this dress in navy with a white stripe and I've yet to wear it. Thank you for the inspiration, you've styled it beautifully. You look wonderful!

I love how you pulled the red out with accessories. So pretty! Once again, an amazing handbag.

i like the way the fur does debombshell the dress. A pretty, cozy outfit.

What about tights? Don't your legs get cold? You must have warmer gams than I do!!

I think I am going to try it with my drapey grey cardigan on top, and boots. It looks great on you and every time you wear yours I think "I should wear mine!"

  • Amy replied 11 years ago

Oh, this outfit is to die for! I'm glad you'll be covering your legs up when outside though. BRRRR.

  • Aziraphale replied 11 years ago

Smashing, as usual! Love the booties with that dress.

    KILLER

One of my Shannon faves. Very Urban Lady Prince.

  • Sona replied 11 years ago

the perfect fur vest on you and that is no small feat. booties + dress= clever winner.

  • Transcona Shannon replied 11 years ago

Ceit - that sounds like a perfect combination - go for it!

Thistle - once I have my tall boots and long down coat on, my legs are pretty covered for outside. And in my office, I still have the microfishnets on, which give some warmth.

Sona - I'm so glad I found this vest, which was quite by accident.

Angie - I love my new title!

    Thanks Tina, Amy and Elisabeth!

Gorgeous! How are your legs staying warm?! Do you need a down skirt? :)

I'm impressed you look so good when it's so cold! I would have defaulted to pants and boots. I run pretty cold-blooded though. I'm much happier in the summer when it's 90 degrees (32 C) outside. If you ask me, the only thing winter has going for it, is skiing.

Love the dress -- absolutely fabulous

  • Beth Ann replied 11 years ago

Gorgeous! I must add, however, that going fur might contain the curves --- but amps up the glamour in its own way! BTW - does any one ever try to "pet" the fur at work?

The length and volume of the vest are perfect, and the effect is very flattering.

Love this on you & can see why you didn't feel fab in the orange skirt - this is much sassier.

  • annagybe replied 11 years ago

I like it except for the matching the bag to the booties.

  • Inge replied 11 years ago

Love it from head to toe!! And that fab furry vest has proven to be a real winner!-)
