I am generally not a huge fan of furry vests but this looks fantastic. I love how the shine on the shoes reflects the glow of the vest.

I love this low contrast outfit. It looks great for an absolutely frigid day.

*Taking notes* I am going to copy that!! Simple and chic! I think the low contrast top works very well with the vest. Your happiness factor has to be high :)

Looks great -- simple and rich.
How will your dress code be at your new office? Will you be able to wear things like this?

I'm with Shevia - I'm normally not a fan of faux fur, but this looks fantastic!

Oh, nice! Great way to "soften" the impact of the vest, ie make it professional rather than fun.
-43..... BRRRRRRRR.....

Mochi replied 10 years ago
very late to the game in seeing your burgundy skinnies, but my they and this entire outfit are fantastic. I also am not usually a furry vest fan, but you somehow pull this off. Editing to add that there's something about the collar that's really flattering and intriguing to me. You make (your insane) winter look super chic.

This is fabulous, Shannon! I love how you are looking in your skinnies these days. You are so svelte and sleek, like a sexy mink!

Great vest! I recently put my furry vest in the Goodwill pile and now I can't remember why. This outfit makes me think I should pull it out and experiment with some combinations.

Love the low contrast color combo. I've been searching high and low for a pair of burgundy skinnies, but the only ones I find are. sigh. ankle pants. I would so love to try to reproduce your fabness!
The vest is sleek and practical here. We're quite cold too, but my, oh, my, you have us beat!

Gorgeous fur vest. Many of the one's I see look very puffy, but this one looks streamlined. I like the darker palette here. Nice outfit!

You look awesome, and I love that you always give a detail photo of the shoes/bag/accessorries. Now I want a fur vest to wear with my burgundy pants ...

I also was not a fan of fur vests...until I found this one. I knew I didn't want anything lighter colored or multi colored because IMHO, that would make the vest more casual and then I wouldn't be comfortable wearing it to work. I wanted a vest that was sleeker and could actually come across as "dressy". This one fit the bill with its fit, dark brown (almost black) color and its shine.
Mochi - it's interesting that you mention the collar on the vest. That's one of things that attracted me to this style. I think the collar makes it a little dressier and work appropriate.
Suz - OMG...LOL! That's exactly what hubby calls this vest - my sexy mink vest...ha ha ha....
Ceit - I'm entirely sure yet what the dress code will be in my new position. It is a more corporate office setting but in a more relaxed hospital, if that makes any sense. The ladies I saw there when I went for my interviews were wearing basic black pants and a sweater. I did see one lady in a fabulous black/white polka dot tube-style skirt with black tights, black turtleneck and booties. I'll have to observe once I'm there and see how the others dress. Mind you, the CEO was wearing jeans, turtleneck, sport coat and running shoes when I went for my interview...I don't think they do Casual Friday though.
Thanks for stopping by and for your comments all :)

Looks really elegant, Shannon. I would love to see your red puffer coat! Have I ? I know you have great Danier pieces.
-

It absolutely works together, oh yezzz!! Love the textural interest you have going on with the faux fur and patent booties, Shannon. And those burgundy skinnies look amazing on you. A fantastic Winter outfit, and your outerwear choices sound fabulous too.
And -43°C!!!??? I want to put on three extra sweaters just thinking about that!!-) Bundle up!

Diana replied 10 years ago
I'm another one who is not normally a fan of the look of fur but I really like it here! (I think because yours looks velvety and not hairy...) The textures are really lovely and rich in this outfit.
And, holy cow, -43? I can't fathom how cold that is! Stay warm! Can I ask what you Canadians do to protect your faces when it's that cold out? Ski mask? When it gets around 5F/-15C around here (about as cold as it ever gets) they start issuing warnings about going outside with exposed skin.

Blargh! Meanwhile it's been in the 30s here with no snow and people are hopping mad! Wind chill is the worst though and we do have that. Nothing like ice particles in your face.
You look fabulous and I love you in that vest.

Sharon replied 10 years ago
I love it!
I really appreciate your thoughts on fur vests re: the casual factor because as soon as I saw your photo I thought how sophisticated the whole outfit looked and wondered why my faux fur vest never looked as stylish.
I think using the fur vest as a textural element is so clever and works beautifully. The whole outfit is polished and cohesive. Just fab!

Totally fabulous! I'm not usually a fan of fur vests but seeing yours makes me want one just like it.

@Isabel LOL my mother os also freezing in Lisbon with 13C

You look great, high happiness indeed! That vest is so lovely and sleek. :D I love faux fur and really want one of those short scarves that sits almost like a collar, but I can't seem to find the perfect one this year. Which is probably for the best, because I'd walk around petting it in public. LOL

I have been wondering if the fur vest was still in and I am really glad to see you wearing yours. I was going to put mine on Ebay but I think I might keep and see if I wear it next winter. This is beautiful Shannon. Streamlined and simple but still interesting. Cannot believe how cold it is there. I am sitting at my desk in a sleeveless dress and sandals!

Ahahaha, Shannon! -43!!!! Ahahaha!
No. You are soooo lying to me, woman. You have left the battery powered, heated long johns off your list.
JK. The vest is great. It's rather 1940s cool.
