WIW: Eileen Does It Again

I have decided that Angie + Eileen Fisher = Dynamic Duo!

Angie recommended this mixed media EF jacket in her NAS 2014 jackets collection and I fell for it then. But it was not within my budget at the time. Lo and behold, I found one on eBay new with tags and after posting a Yay or Nay on the forum, ordered it. It arrived yesterday and I am in love!

It is the comfort level and quality that I have come to expect from EF so I figure if Angie recommends it and Eileen makes it, it's a no brainer for me!

So today's outfit centres around the leather sleeved, merino wool drapey jacket. Although not traditionally a colour that I would choose, over a column of black and with my red specs and red lipstick, no problem IMHO. I can also see the jacket in a very casual outfit with white tee and BF jeans, or dressier for work over a black sheath dress and perhaps my EF dark red dress as well.

Today I've popped the jacket over a drapey asymmetrical tank (which is layered over another tank for warmth) and my ponte knit slim NYDJ leggings. Footwear choice was my comfy Chelsea boots and then for a pop of unexpected colour and some needed structure, my citron handbag.

Happiness factor? Through the roof!

What do you think of the outfit as a whole and the jacket in particular? Would love some other styling suggestions if you are so inclined. As always, all comments, suggestions welcome.

Jacket: Eileen Fisher (eBay)
Tank: Danier Leather
Leggings: NYDJ
Boots: Clarks
Handbag: Gift

Awesome! It's the perfect tone of coolish brown for you Shannon. Looks fab with black and red. Love the fit and length too. YLF!!

  • Jaime replied 9 years ago

That jacket is perfect on you and for you! Gorgeous outfit!

  • Ingunn replied 9 years ago

It's a perfect outfit. I love it. The bag is a wonderful pop against the dark clothes. I like you hair a lot these days, too!

  • gryffin replied 9 years ago

Shannon - so fablous on you!!  EF loves you!!

  • Suz replied 9 years ago

Absolute LOVE. It is gorgeous on you. I want one. Seriously!! Oh no!!!!

Is sizing ordinary for EF? I don't even know what my size in EF is....sigh....

  • Elizabeth P replied 9 years ago

Angie + EF + Shannon = THROUGH THE FREAKING ROOF!

Suz, I find EF tops to be slightly roomy... I bounce between M and L in most things, really a 50/50 split depending on the cut.  With EF I'm pretty consistently a M.  Oh, I just thought of something consistent that you can relate to - in Danier I'm always an M.

  • lyn67 replied 9 years ago

Yes, if Angie recommends, will surely work...throughout the roof:-). Ah-mazing! Love the yellow bag to this!
And the cardi will look  fab on top of your dresses, or skirted combos, too! My advice(if isn't too obvious?) to play with changing up textures between the cardi/and  the things you top it above them! It1s a super fab and edgy piece, for sure-and your starting outfit is perfect!

Love this so much. You look better than the model in that jacket! I just love the color and the way it flares just slightly. And the olive and citron is such an unexpected combination. Well done!

Holy - fab jacket!  And that bag with it?  I love your husband too :)  Between you and Angie's capsule post this morning, I've decided I would like a citron bag.  Anyways, back to you. Yes, I agree with your ideas for styling and think this jacket over red will work really well.  Is there a red tank in your closet?  That would be a good underpinning with black or even brown bottoms of some sort.  Ooh, do you have a red bag?  If not, you need one :)

I really like this outfit - the drape of the cardigan is so flattering on you, and that bag really makes the outfit sing.  Nice one!

  • catgirl replied 9 years ago

Wow! EF so rarely works for me but on you? K all around!

  • jackiec replied 9 years ago

Oh my gosh, Shannon, this is perfect on you!!! I absolutely love it! But the citron accent puts it all through the roof. Brilliant!

Suz - this one is roomy. Elizabeth is right, close to Danier sizing. I'd think you'd be an XXS.

  • KikiG replied 9 years ago

Wow, Eileen sure loves you! and the detail on the back of that jacket made my heart sing for joy! You don't just look great from the front, you look awesome from the rear!! How terrific is that?

  • Transcona Shannon replied 9 years ago

SQUEEEEE!!!!!! Oh thank you all so much for joining me in my jacket love :)

Suz - I always size down in EF tops and jackets. I am normally a Petite Large in other brands and am consistently a Petite Medium in EF. I agree with the comparison to Danier sizing.

Lisa - you bet I have a red tank. An EF one at that!

Una - I think EF works for me because she does seem to cut for a generous figure and curves. And that works in my favor. For once :)

  • Suz replied 9 years ago

Okay - thanks all. Probably won't be able to find such a thing. Ah well....

This looks amazing on you --- far better than on the model!  I was one who was unsure about the color -- it seemed a little dull in the catalog photo, but it looks far richer in your pic, with more texture, too, making a great contrast with the shiny, smooth leather.

Awesome find, and a great midwinter refresher.

  • Diana replied 9 years ago

That jacket is just perfect for you! Go Angie and eileen!

This whole outfit is fantastic. Rich and edgy and a perfect fit to boot.

  • Angie replied 9 years ago

I vote Shannon does it again - not Eileen.

    Killer look.

(Glad the sweater jacket worked out). xo

Looks fantastic on you - so perfect!

  • Janet replied 9 years ago

Hey jacket twin, I'm glad you went for it! You look terrific. I'm really liking your hair these days too.

  • merwoman replied 9 years ago

EF should use you as their model! Looking fab fab fab! It's amazing how much that gorgeous handbag adds to the outfit.

  • deb replied 9 years ago

It is like EF is meant for you.

  • harmonica replied 9 years ago

Amazing! The EF jacket is stunning! Fantastic fit and great mixed media piece. Love the yellow bag!

  • MTBGirl replied 9 years ago

    Fantastic outfit on you!

  • Debbie replied 9 years ago

    Great look!

  • unfrumped replied 9 years ago

Wow, I wasn't sure that would work, so I'm glad you tried it! Looks great, and a nice length.

  • abc replied 9 years ago

Looks great! I must admit I just added three more EF items to my closet...will post soon! :)

  • Transcona Shannon replied 9 years ago

Beth Ann - I remember your concerns about the color. I'll admit, I had a few worries myself. But I think as long as I wear things that compliment the brown, I'll be ok. It is much richer in person than in the stock photo, that's for sure.

Diana - I love when I can put a little edge in my outfit. Thanks!

Angie - oh what a sweet thing to say :) And I'm glad it worked out too - I'm really quite smitten and predict I'll be wearing this a lot.

Janet - I cannot get over how soft the wool is on this jacket. You weren't kidding when you said it didn't itch at all. It's just soft and cozy.

Merwoman & Harmonica - I'll pass your handbag comments on to hubby who bought it for me for Christmas. He'll be tickled!

Thanks everyone for the lovely feedback.

I LOVE the edge in this outfit - you look fantastic Shannon :)

  • karymk replied 9 years ago

That looks so good on you Sharon. And your hair is different? Have you lost weight? Whatever it is you look FAB.

  • rae replied 9 years ago

I remember that jacket from NAS! Looove. And you know I love the outfit with That Bag!!

  • Hilary replied 9 years ago

The citron bag is such a fantastic touch.  And what a great sweater!  You look terrific!

  • Karie replied 9 years ago

Yep, if Angie recommends it, it's going to be a win. I have found that to be true many times over!

That mixed media jacket is fantastic. You scored a great find!

  • Peri replied 9 years ago

So happy you are so happy!

And I have a suggestion/request/great idea. Could you do a post on ebay shopping...tips and guidelines and how you manage your searching genius? I've only done a tiny bit, and never seem to find what I want. You find amazing things!

  • Elly replied 9 years ago

    I love this on you!

  • Firecracker (Sharan) replied 9 years ago

Beautiful look! As to styling ideas, do you have a slim-fitting dress that you could wear the jacket over? I'd think it would be great over a tube skirt, too--just swap out the skinnies for a skirt, in other words.

  • Deborah replied 9 years ago

I want that jacket.  It really does look like it was made for you. And the brownish tone work extremely well against the black.  The bag is all kinds of wonderful and is the perfect accompaniment to the outfit.

  • Transcona Shannon replied 9 years ago

Karymk - I am growing my hair out a bit - at least until it drives me nuts! And I am working on getting my weight under control but pretty sure it isn't showing yet. Probably just the camera angle or something.

Peri - when I have a moment I will do a post on my eBay techniques.

Sharan - thanks for the styling ideas. Think I'll play in my closet this weekend with your suggestions and see what I can come up with.

    Thanks all :)
