WIW: EF Jersey Skirt & a bouquet of flowers

Today's outfit started with my new Eileen Fisher jersey skirt. This jersey is similar in silhouette to the VC tube skirts we all love but has a fold-over waist band of about 4 inches wide that allows you to change the overall length of the skirt from a midi to a knee length pencil to anywhere in between. It's also made with the fabulous EF jersey fabric which is the only jersey I will wear on my lower half - fabulous drape with a bit of weight and no clinging to jiggly bits - fabulous to move in. I'm in love! You are gonna get SO SICK of seeing me in this skirt :)

I then added my new sleeveless floral flowy tank - florals on a black background is my all time favorite pattern so scooped this one up as soon as I saw it. It's the perfect length to combine with a slim silhouette on my lower half.

I topped it all with my black heavy linen blazer with 3/4 cuffed sleeves. I adore linen for summer and have no issue with the creases. To me, it's part of the beauty of linen.

For accessories I added my black peep-toe sandal booties, vintage green glass bead necklace and watermelon handbag.

Bonus shots of my hair - cut my final trim last night and it is now in the style I've been working towards. It's a hybrid short shag-inverted bob. My stylist is incredible and has really helped me get through the horrid growing out stage. I have a little bit left to grow in the side fringe but otherwise, it won't be any longer. We agreed that because my hair is so thick, to grow it into one length would result in me basically having a triangle head - it wouldn't lay nicely at all. And any longer tends to overtake my narrow face. So there are a few carefully placed layers to help it lay nicely and the back is cut shorter. I'm thrilled with the results and love the movement of it and having a bit of hair to play with. I can scrunch it for a wavy look, flat iron for sleek and straight, slick and comb back for drama - it's really quite versatile. Next month when I go for my trim, we'll touch up and brighten my cranberry streak.

As always, all comments and feedback are most welcome.
And have I mentioned how lovely it is to be back? :)

P.S. I seem to get my pics either too dark or too light - promise to work on it!

Shannon, you look sensational!! YaHOOO!! Absolutely gorgeous outfit on you. Fantastic! I love the green necklace with the pretty floral top.

By the way, as I recall, florals were a big part of your style in your early days on the forum as well. You never went "off" them exactly but you did not seem to wear them quite as often for a while. Now you're back to florals as well! :)

Your hair looks absolutely wonderful and is inspirational to me. I am going to go the opposite route with a super short pixie in a few days, but also growing in the grey and hope for some colourful streaks when that happens.

Now, I need you to put that skirt in the Finds. Does it only come in black? This is what I need to know.

    Hi Shannon,
You look great... happy and comfortable and confident. Fab hair, too.

Hey Suz - yes, remember the floral frock I wore to death a few years ago? But I'm picky about the floral pattern - nothing too ditsy, you know?

As for the pixie, that's how I grew my grey out before I joined YLF. I had my stylist cut it extremely short and it really only took about 3 months to grow out the color. It's the easiest way to do it.And we know you look smashing with short hair so go for it and enjoy the process!

I'll look for the skirt on line and pop it into finds for you when I do. As far as I know, it only comes in black. But my goodness...the fabric is divine. I have to say it feels and moves better than the VC tube skirts.

    Killer

This is YOUR look and you wear it with the best of them. I know that EF skirt, actually. It's a goodie. And the new 'do is AMAZING. Rock on, sweet Shannon.

Your hair looks great!  I like the floral top with the soft colors.  Nice look on you.

Thank you so much Angie and Sara. I will confess - I feel fabulous in this outfit. It's like coming home after a vacation that went on a little too long, you know?

This is your look Shannon.  Love it on you - I like it best without the jacket so that the gorgeous top is the star (but I know your job and your meat locker of an office requires a jacket on hand) .  Great necklace with it too - not too matchy/contrived looking.

I cannot get over your hair - I know I keep saying that.  It's so professional and sophisticated-looking.  Happy Wednesday!

I am looking forward to seeing the new tube skirt in Finds - I'm still wearing my VC tube, but if there's something better out there...

I also like to see a pretty floral on a dark background, it makes the floral pattern "pop."

    Your hair looks fabulous!

You look great and I love the hair. Very chic. I have been keeping a look out for shoes like that, so cute.

You look great, love your hair with the salt and pepper, edgy cut and purple streak. It's so fabulous I can't stand it. Love your whole outfit! I'm also wearing a black leather jacket and black tube skirt today so we're style twins! So glad you're happy with where you're at in terms of your body and style because you are rocking it!

Fabulous, Shannon!  You are exemplifying so many different style "musts" here I don't even know where to begin.  The print on the blouse reminds me of the summer shoes I bought a couple of weeks ago.  The hair is perfect!

  • Vildy replied 7 years ago

You look like the cat who swallowed the cream and well you should!
As everyone has said, what a wonderful look. I think the cut of those shoes is beautifully showcasing your ankles and calves and the print of the shirt is glorious. In light of one of your recent previous posts, I'd say this new attitude results in a very sensual look belonging to a woman confident in her physicality. If that's not you yet, then you have the whole world fooled.

Lisa - jacket on in "meat locker" office and off when I go outside for my lunch hour walk. This is why I need several jackets in my closet. As for my hair, it's all thanks to my stylist - who I positively worship.

Natalie - whoo hoo! So nice to catch up with you :) We are rather "twin-y" today aren't we?

Una - hmmm...what musts are those??? Now you've got me curious.

Suz and Karie - I can't find the EF tube skirt anywhere but on eBay so can't add to Finds. I bought it new with tags from my eBay seller so my guess is it's from last year and no longer available in store. Sorry :(

Thank you all for your lovely words F:)

Oh my goodness Vildy - you have literally brought me to tears with your last comment. That's about the nicest thing anyone has ever said to me.

  • celia replied 7 years ago

I simply love your haircut, it follows the curve of your face in the most beautiful way.
Regarding the outfit, in my opinion you can do no wrong in that area but I agree that you seem to have come back home with more confidence than ever. You have it an you know it :)

  • Angela K replied 7 years ago

Beautiful and absolutely glowing! You've really hit your personal style stride. Congrats and enjoy!
