WIW: Drape & Dots

Have I mentioned how glad I am that I decided in the end to keep the Tildon skirt and have WW alter it? I still haven't taken it back to her to get the fabric lining removed and have a proper slip lining attached, but I'll get to that when it's a wee bit colder.

Today we have some outside visitors attending the hospital for an event and I'll be leading two tours. Therefore I wanted to be somewhat "corporate" in my attire but I also wanted to be extremely comfortable and relaxed looking.

So I started my outfit with the Tildon broken dots skirt and paired it with a simple black tank. On top of that, I added my dark tulip EF drapey merino wool cardigan, with scrunched sleeves of course.

For footwear I went with my uber comfortable CK kitten heels and other accessories include my patent black clutch, rose gold/black watch and red specs.

What do you think? Does this outfit give off the vibe I'm looking for? As always, all comments/suggestions welcome.

I also want to apologize for still not being back here as much as I'd like and not being able to post on everyone's wonderful threads. The workload is still intense and there's lots of overtime, meaning when I do finally get home I'm just too pooped to pop in :)

Cardigan: Eileen Fisher (eBay)
Tank: Smart Set
Skirt: Tildon (altered)
Shoes: Calvin Klein
Clutch: Danier Leather (thrifted)
Watch: Fossil (eBay)

Another one of my favorites! I ADORE that broken dot skirt. You look fab, and perfect for the day at hand.

I still love that skirt.  Have you tested it with tights yet?  The red sweater/jacket is one of your best colors and works well for you.  your accessories are very put together and polished so I think you hit your target.

It looks like the waist is back in.  I was looking at your outfit and thinking that it would look nice with the cardi open and a patent belt over top for another look.

I'm sorry to hear you have been run off your feet.  Hopefully it will lighten up soon.

Shannon, this is perfect! You definitely nailed the look you were going for. The colour of that cardigan is so divine:)

You look perfect! Comfortable, approachable, yet corporate enough.

So glad you kept the Tildon skirt and made it work with a bit of tailoring.

Put together and professional - to say nothing of stylish!

You look a  million bucks, and so happy you kept that skirt!

Another perfect outfit! I just love that EF sweater -- it is glorious. I may have to hunt it down in my own size. The red is just so yummy.

No need to apologize, Shannon. We get it!

You are the picture of "comfy corporate". I love to see all the ways you find to make fab outfits out of your wardrobe. Anyone who is working long hours to keep Eubola controlled definitely gets a free pass. We are thankful that you post you outfits. That is a wonderful skirt.

You look great!  I love the skirt and the heels look perfect for a corporate look but still comfy enough to lead tours.

Killer Modern Classic Gorgeous Professional Fabness, pretty lady.

Does my description of your look sound ridiculous and do I need more tea?

  • replied 9 years ago

Well gee, Angie's words are a hard act to follow!  How do I top that?  This little skirt has become a great buy , despite the initial trouble it caused you, hasn't it?  I like this look a lot - a really perfect work look for a busy day and a hectic environment - nicely done!

  • Ornella replied 9 years ago

Yup, Angie's nailed it. Some news, eh?

    Lol Angie!

You do indeed look absolutely fabulous Shannon!

I adore this skirt. I also love the lines and flow of the sweater. Fabulous combo.

So glad you kept the skirt - I love this & you hit just the right note with your outfit. Take care of yourself & hope work settles down soon :) :)

When was this cardi added to your closet? It is perfect! Yes to the whole thing!

  • gryffin replied 9 years ago

Shannon - I don't even like polka dots and I adore that skirt.  The outfit is out of the park.  So uber flattering, elegant, professional and very classy!!  Definitely competent, self assured but approachable.  You could not have made a better choice.  PS the color of the EF fisher cardi and silhouette is divine on you!!  Honestly, I think you should send them some snapshots!!  You'd be awesome as a tipster which is my favorite part of their site!!

I am resurrecting this WIW because I found a pic of what I meant with the belt over top.  I think this sweater is going to be a workhorse for you so a few options for styling it might be handy.  How easy would it be to throw on a dress in a solid, grab the gorgeous sweater and throw on a belt.

The example is obviously not a similar sweater but I think the cut is similar.
