WIW: Double Patent

I'm having trouble with my camera in terms of the light so apologies for the various colours and degrees of darkness in these pics.

Today's outfit started with my dark olive green cargo pants. These have been total workhorses for me (thanks for the cargo inspiration MsMary!). I paired the pants with my black asymmetrical blouse thingy (with black tank underneath).

For footwear, I chose my patent Ara booties. I haven't worn these booties in some time as they bothered my PF but I have been absolutely diligent with my exercises and haven't had a flare up for a bit now. Plus I have my custom orthotics now and they fit in the booties quite nicely. I am taking my Chelsea boots as back ups just in case but hope I can wear the Ara's today.

To bookend the patent and give the outfit a bit of less casual vibe, I then chose my black patent structured clutch for handbag. Love the shiny bookending.

I'm starting to crave some of my necklaces again so today am wearing a beautiful dark red amber pendant hubby gave me several years ago.  Red specs and a swipe of my new winter lipstick Clinique Cider Berry and I'm ready to go.

What do you think? Does this all work together? I wish I had taken a side shot because I really like the hi-lo hemline of the blouse thingy and the snaps on the side of the ankles of the cargo pants against the patent booties. Oh well…

Blouse and tank: Smart Set
Pants: Ricki's
Booties: Ara
Clutch: Danier Leather (thrifted)

I am really liking the simplicity of your outfits lately Shannon.  They work really well but are anything but boring.  Nicely done.

I may pull out my olive pants today too.  :)

Fantastic Shannon - I love the red pendant here and the one side zipper on the blouse thingy!

You had me at double patent! It looks great, and I love the touches of red to festivize it all (like my new word?)

What's not to love! Wonderful outfit. I find the touches of red perfect and it's this detail that just pulls it all together.

Those cargo jeans are fab. I was looking for a pair last fall but didn't look hard or long enough. I'm thinking I need to resume my search! The blouse and bootie bookending looks great too!

    Thanks ladies :)

You know, I really had no idea just how versatile olive cargo pants would be and in my world, they are all season pants.

Shevia - I call this my blouse thingy because I really don't know what it is! It's like a blouse and a jacket had a baby.

    Jeanne - "festivize" - love it :)

Oh, I love the red accents with the olive and black.  Great look!  The shiny patent is a nice contrast to the cargo pants.

As the others have said - red is the perfect accent to the army green and black.   Serious boot envy happening here - I am a sucker for anything patent .  I'm having a necklace moment too , oddly. Wore a long one yesterday for the first time in awhile.  Also love your lip colour - I'm hoping the Chubby Stick collection has a red I can try myself.  Fab day today Shannon!

I love your idea of pairing olive cargos with a patent shoe and bag.  I think the contrast between casual cargo and dressier patent makes an interesting, eye-catching outfit.  Your look is an inspiration!  Thanks for posting!

this strikes the perfect balance of structure and fluidness, casual and business. fab!

  • catgirl replied 9 years ago

I would copy this head to toe if I had slouchy cargo pants!

  • Sal replied 9 years ago

Very nicely done indeed from textures to colours to silhouettes.

  • Suz replied 9 years ago

Ooh! Yay!! I am so glad you saved those booties and hope they worked out for comfort today.

I like this outfit a lot! Nice balance between structure and fluidity, and I like your patent booties and clutch. They add a touch of dressiness, as you suggest. The pendant is gorgeous with these black and olive pieces.

Oooh!  Patent and military wear are a fab juxtaposition.  Well done, Shannon.....and I'm gonna look up that lipstick!
