WIW: Denim & Heels

Yay for Friday!!!

Today's outfit started with a pair of old jeans I found in my downstairs storage closet last night, tried on and found they fit again, and promptly hacked off and rolled for a slim fit BF/denim clam look. I added my navy and cream polka dot blouson top, which I semi tucked into my taupe studded belt to change up the look of the top a bit. Popped on my girly taupe pointy toe kitten heel pumps and added my white clutch. Jewelry is my gold wedding band and gold watch.  Happiness factor = extremely high.

What do you think? Does it work together? Does the blouse look ok semi tucked? As always, all comments/suggestions welcome.

Blouse: gift from DS
Belt: thrifted
Jeans: Massimo skinny
Shoes: Cole Haan
Clutch: Danier Leather

I think this is one of my all-time favourite outfits for you, Shannon! Just awesome!

Love! Those shoes make it every time! Did you look at the link Inge posted about which shoes to wear with boyfriends? You could be the model!

  • Suz replied 10 years ago

Fabulous, Shannon! Nodding along with Shevia about the footwear choice. But most of all I love that top on you.

Love every single item in this outfit. Together they look great and you look fab!

Nicely played with the semi-tuck and nude shoes.  Brilliant!

I wish I could find an old pair of jeans and have them look this fabulous! Great shoe choice, too!

Oh thank you soooo much :)

I think I'm FINALLY getting a handle on casual wear. Being in an office setting for 25 years, my primary wardrobe focus has always been on my business wear. Now that our office has gone Casual Friday and has relaxed its dress code for the rest of the week as well, I have struggled a bit with how to dress on the Friday. I still like to dress up for Monday - Thursday though!

You always look fabulous, but this is a real knock-out on you! Great job!

I love the soft colors of this outfit.  I'm also really liking pumps and jeans together.

  • celia replied 10 years ago

    Those are great bf jeans.
How does it feel to get to the point where you just find 'some old thing' in the downstairs closet ?:)
The point toes and the blouse complete a fabulous outfit.

    Effortlessly gorgeous!

This is SO pretty on you - love that top and it works extremely well the way you styled it with your "found' jeans and heels. You should feel happy in it because you look really great!

This is going in my inspiration files.  I love that polka dot top!

  • Lisa replied 10 years ago

So clever to modify the jeans.  Great colors here, you are really rocking taupe colors lately.  I like the top tucked enough to see the belt here.

How exciting that you found, hacked, and scored a great new pair of BFs! Yay for Shannon! And you look terrific, that blouse is so lovely. Pop of skin on the arms and calves just makes the outfit, and the nude shoes continue the look. Thanks for reminding me that skin is one of our best accessories!

Wow, I love those shoes with the rolled-up jeans!  I envy you being able to rock the denim at the office!

  • rae replied 10 years ago

Super cute! Love that length of BF roll on you!

  • Transcona Shannon replied 10 years ago

Rae - and it only took me a year to figure out that BF look and length - lol!

  • annagybe replied 10 years ago

I like the outfit. I'm not entirely sold on the fading on the jeans though.

  • Transcona Shannon replied 10 years ago

Celia - it felt pretty darned good I have to say!

Julie - I'm really starting to see what Angie says when she refers to skin as showing some structure.

MaryK - I've decided these shoes can do no wrong.

Anna - do you think the fading is in the wrong placement or the wrong color?

  • Ingunn replied 10 years ago

*waving at my clutch twin* You look fab! I love this on you, Shannon, and what a great idea to shorten the jeans. The shoes and clutch are such workhorses, aren't they? I love my clutch, too! I'm very grateful that you helped me getting it.

I hate to copy Angie, but this is Killer to the power of Killer! LOVE!

  • annagybe replied 10 years ago

    Placement, definitely placement.

  • Wendi1984 replied 10 years ago

Really nice! I love this on you! I have been wanting to try dressing up my boyfriend jeans with heels. Thanks for more inspiration. Maybe I will try it for date night this weekend.

  • Caro in Oz replied 10 years ago

As kellygirl has already copied Angie I will copy MaryK **plonk**.

  • amiable replied 10 years ago

wow, Wow, WOW.  This is completely amazing on you - you look sleek, stylish, and still casual.  I'm in awe!

  • donnat replied 10 years ago

    Looking good!

  • Beth Ann replied 10 years ago

I missed this post, but I'm so glad I caught it, because it's fab.

This is one of my favorite tops in your wardrobe, Shannon, and I always believed that you'd find the bf for you!

I don't often "dress up" my bf's, because I don't wear denim while teaching, unless its a skirt of dress.  I'll have to look for an opportunity to try it.

I love your casual Friday look.

A statement dangly earring is the only thing to add to give this youthful outfit a little extra edge. I'd also swap the clutch bag for an oversized tote for daytime.

  • Deborah replied 10 years ago

This blouse always looks gorgeous on you Shannon. And the jeans look great. The heel creates such a nice lady like vibe.
