Oh, Shannon - so frustrating to have to wear "the boot." I have to wonder if your perception about the jacket is affected by that. Because a girl is bound to feel a little clunky and chunky when she's wearing something like that. I like the jacket and while it's true that it is a bit on the boxy side (and the geometric print perhaps adds to that impression) I am with you on adoring the retro style and I don't think it is unflattering, per se -- just hard to style at the moment.
Another thought....in an ideal world, I am wondering if a slightly smaller scale houndstooth might be better? Not that you should toss this one, but just have your eye open for the eventual replacement, and perhaps try a few with a smaller scale print for comparison.

Agree with suz that you should perhaps first find a replacement and then toss if you wish to. And when you are tossing ..... Toss my way. Lol!
Jokes apart, I do not see anything wrong with the jacket. It has a modern print and it adds so much interest to an ordinary outfit. I don't think it makes you look chunky. The berry blouse is just perfect with this b/w combo.

I think this has the same shape as your Amber Sun jacket you love....I think maybe the print is throwing you off? I don't think it looks bad on you or makes you look big, I think it looks intentionally boxy, and works with the skirt.

I am saying Keep on this one. I love it on you. I agree with Suz - try it without Ms Clunky boot next week and see if you have renewed love!

I think Suz has a good point. Definitely wait until you can balance the boxiness with some heels. I like it - and I think you look great today!

I'm not seeing it as hitting at exactly the widest point of the hipline.

Shannon, your style cannot be cramped neither by a bowl on your head!:-)

Thanks for the feedback regarding the jacket all. For now I will keep as I do have a sweet spot for the jacket. I think you're all right in that the clunky footwear is throwing me off. I feel completely schlumpy as a result. In fact, having to wear the same footwear day after day is making me realize how MUCH footwear is part of my overall style. And I really do feel best in a bit of a heel.

The jacket is awesome! I can't believe you are thinking about offing it!! What?!

For starters, I think you look great - the pop of pink is a cheerful accent to your very polished look.
I see what you're saying about the jacket being not the most conventionally flattering length, but I think the other ladies have a point about the boot. As a fellow lover of houndstooth, say keep. I'd love to see the jacket with skinny jeans.

I like the jacket too. It's a great look on petites. Remember that you are wearing it with a high contrast bottom. As soon as you lower the contrast, the picture changes.
And medical boot style never looked as fabulous. xo

First of all -- I want to tell you that you look perfectly lovely today. I especially love the pop of bright pink you've added to the outfit. I think the retro style jacket is playful and adorable, and probably in keeping with that side of your style persona. Yes... the cut is slightly boxy, but don't you think it makes dressing so much more fun when you have items in different silhouettes? For what it is worth, I do not think that this at all accentuates the hip area. One can still see the curve of your waistline.

I love the jacket!
Although I kind of feel like it's the kind of thing I would love for myself, and then I would post it and everybody would say it's not flattering. LOL But I love it on you!

I missed this! I was looking for a Shannon post!
About that jacket: This jacket doesn't make your body look bigger, because the eye clearly discerns that its cut away from your body. My eye is drawn to the jacket, not to your torso. I think the overall proportions are working.
Sorry you have to wear that nasty boot! Heal quickly!

I too have a weakness for houndstooth. It is one of my favorite patterns.
WRT to the figure flattery, here is my suggestion. Pick the two jackets you own that you think are the best look/cut for you and make a collage with the houndstooth in the center. Then look at the three jackets and see if you think this one is on par with the others. I would suggest using the Lanai as one of the control group jackets. It is much easier to assess when you have comparatives.
Hope you get rid of the boot and can go back to your usual style very soon.

You do an excellent job of making that boot blend in. I love that houndstooth jacket!

i think you look great, boot or no boot! the jacket is great--especially with the pop of pinkt. it's boxy, but it's body-skimming enough + your shapeliness + the body-skimming skirt that it works well for you. now, if you wore it with a big billowy skirt...er...no.

I like the jacket I don't think it's a purge. White jeans --- try it with them and I think you'll feel differently.
