WIW: Comfort

Unlike yesterday's "sitting" day at work, today will be quite a bit of running around therefore comfort is key. I started with my black and white tiered dress, added my purple silk-blend shrug (the AC can be cool in certain areas of the hospital and warm in others), metal coiled cuff for a bit of an edge, and my black and white handbag. My knee has been bothering me a bit so lower heels were required today therefore am wearing my trusty and oh so comfy Clarks with a 2 inch heel.

Does this outfit work? I know shrugs aren't everyone's cuppa but I love the fabrication of this one and to me, it's the perfect topper for a warm spring day.

Shrug: Nygard
Dress: Cleo Petites
Sandals: Clarks
Handbag: Danier Leather (thrifted)
Cuff: Cleo Petites

I love it! You look so sophisticated and ready to take on the day, and your big smile is so refreshing :) Hope you have a great day! You look fabulous enough for anything!

This dress is just fabulous on you. I love it with the colorblock bag and pretty feminine shoes. The shrug is cute too but every time you wear it, I wish it was long sleeved. I don't know why, I just feel like a long sleeve topper would work better. Do you ever do dresses for motg? They are so fab on you.

It works! You look great in this outfit. I like everything about it.

Looks fab Shannon! I love the graphic black and white together! That is a very cute dress! I like the shrug a lot too!

I love that dress on you and who can resist a pop of purple? Not me!

Oh, I love that dress on you!

I hope your knee heals up quickly!

Love this dress! A stretchy dress can look like a million bucks, and feel like ---- jammies!

A very fab outfit! Clean, minimal, still very interesting and stylish. I am not usually a fan of shrugs but I think this one works really well with the dress.

You are amazing if wearing a two inch heel is "taking if comfy" for the day! The dress and bag are just fab with those shoes. I have a lot of little shrug/cropped cardi things because they are just the right weight and length for summer A/C. Sometimes long sleeves or a blazer is just too much, so I say rock on, Shannon! You look fab. And I will always adore you in black and white!

Thank you very much for your lovely comments.

Claire - you are right in that sometimes a full blown blazer is too warm and I find a light cardigan or shrug just enough to take the chill off. And I will always love black and white too!

A+ from me! I always wish we had a Cleo here whenever I see your amazing dresses, and I must say your hair has been looking so nice (edgier?) lately.

Rita - I've gone back to your question about whether or not I wear dresses for MOTG. To be honest, I never have. The closest I've gotten is a denim skirt. But because of your inquiry, I'm wondering why that is. I LOVE LOVE LOVE dresses, find them easy to fit, comfortable to wear, and simple to style (for the most part). I would think I'd need some a bit more casual than what I wear to work though. What do you think?

Rae - thanks for the comments on my hair. I had my stylist take it extra short this cut (I like it super short when the warm weather hits) and it tends to spike up a bit better when it's short.

Purple and black/white are so great. I like a shrug - it's sort of a cropped jacket in knit form.
    Your haircut is great!

This looks so fab on you. Whenever I see your outfits I scratch my head, because the Cleo Petites stuff in our Kingston store never matches up to this fab reality.

I think also I walk past stuff that might WELL be fab but doesn't fit my work-at-home way of life. I wish they had more that would work for MOTG. The styles would...it's the fabrications that sometimes feel too business-like. Which makes them perfect for you, of course! Hmmm.

I think you look great! I would like to see one more bit of purple or another bright color, but that's just Maximal Me. ;)

  • Transcona Shannon replied 11 years ago

I hear ya MaryK - I actually thought about using my Kelly green handbag instead for more colour? What do you think?

    Thanks Christieanne and Suz!

  • MsMary replied 11 years ago

Yes! I would love the green bag with this!! :)

  • catgirl replied 11 years ago

Shannon, I think you look lovely, and the shrug adds a bit of interest too with the color and crop.

I find it so fascinating that you love dresses and find them easy to fit, since I am exactly the opposite. I wonder if you love them BECAUSE they are easy to fit? Because I certainly hate them mostly because I have such a hard time with them.

  • Transcona Shannon replied 11 years ago

I think there's definitely a lot to that Una - I love them BECAUSE I fit them! I find pants so darned frustrating to fit because of my body shape and they tend to have more "fuss factor" for me. A dress I just pop on, put some shoes on and away I go. I've always loved dresses - ever since I was a little girl so I guess it just never really changed for me.

You look great! Love the print of your dress!

    Great look!

Gorgeous! It's so amazing how a petite can rock a longer length like this and look *so good*, Shannon. Silly body type dressing rules.
