WIW: Cobalt & Dalmation

It's quite warm here today (well….by Winnipeg standards anyway) and we're finally reaching a "plus" temperature. Time to wear a skirt with nude hose!

Today's outfit started with my cobalt knit pencil skirt and nude hose. I then added my ivory and black dalmation print front wrap, hi-lo blouse. I love the print top with the colourful skirt. For footwear I decided to play up the cobalt colour and went with my cobalt/purple suede booties. I went with my black/white handbag and a ring for accessories.

What do you think? Does this work together? As always, all comments/suggestions welcome.

Blouse: Dorothy Perkins Petite
Skirt: Cleo Petite
Hose: Hue
Booties: Aerosoles
Handbag: Danier Leather (thrifted)

P.S. I'm going through a bad spot of negative body imaging right now thanks to my endocrine imbalance being completely out of control. Stress tends to affect my levels and as a result, despite watching every little bit I eat and going to the gym regularly again, I continue to put weight on. Some of my clothes aren't fitting as well as they did previously so it's making it harder to choose items and outfits that not only physically fit but also make me feel good. Don't you just sometimes feel like your own body is the enemy? Oh well….I know eventually everything will get back on track. Just having one of those moments, you know?

Very nice, i really like the cobalt skirt, the dalmation looks great with it.

I am sorry your body is fighting with you -- you look great, so I think you are succeeding in fably dressing the body you have now. I hope this is short-term and just related to the job crisis, and you will get things back in whack soon.

Shannon I totally understand (and share) the feeling of your body being out of control, but from the outside point of view you look absolutely fabulous in your clothes, including this outfit!

Always love your cobalt based outfits, this one is well put together, too! Love that shirt, and booties, and wow for the nude hose! I feel your pain, as  I too feel like my own body is undermining all my efforts to loose a bit of weight right now. I started a low carb diet on 5th Jan, and after some water weight of 7 pounds or so went off in  the first 2 weeks, then all the process stopped, and even put on back 1 pound last week...so frustrating, but we'll keep on doing the right thing anyway, no?:-)

Love your outfit Shannon! Cool booties! Weight is a real pain in the *** to manage! It's annoying isn't it? Hope your stress levels come down soon xo

  • Suz replied 10 years ago

Hugs, Shannon!! You've had so much stress. It makes everything that much tougher. Hang in there.

And your outfit is great -- very fresh and fun.

Fabulous outfit - I love leopard and cobalt. Hugs to you - hopefully things will get back on track soon.

It was 32F yesterday, and I left my coat in the car!  Of course, I only walk about 400 yards to my building, but still, I felt free!

This outfit is gorgeous -- truly outstanding -- and is uber flattering.  I understand your frustration with keeping the body in balance, and I admire you ability to look so amazing in the midst of the stress and the weight fluctuations that so many of us experience.

What Beth Ann said.  Minus the 32 degree part.
Hang in there!  I hope you get everything under control soon.

But you look terrific!  Modern and sassy and professional all at once.

Amazing look! Those booties are awesome.

You look amazing.  In fact, I had been thinking you never looked better.

You look great and your outfits are still fabulous, even though you are frustrated with your body.  I can relate since I still can't fit into a good half of my wardrobe although I know that I will eventually.  I just want to speed the process up.

Hi Shannon, I understand how you feel, truly, but I hope you can take some comfort in knowing that you do indeed look fabulous in spite of your rebellious metabolism!

I am always going to love love love cobalt paired with black and white. I adore the blouse.

  • Joy replied 10 years ago

Shannon, don't let the stress get you down.  You look ready for fun.  I hope that it was a good day.

  • Deborah replied 10 years ago

Totally understand how you feel:)  But you look F A B U L O U S!  That blouse is so gorgeous and the cobalt is divine on you.   Hang in there, all will get back to normal but in the meantime just know that no one else would know and you do look wonderful.

You look fabulous, and I feel exactly the same way about my body right now.

You look lovely, and I completely understand the body issues.

Between winter, work stress this time of year, and the miscarriages, it has been hard on my body. I try to be kind to it. Despite everything, it takes me where I want to go, it picks up my DD and snuggles her and hugs my DH. It may not look the way I want it to, but that is not a measure of its worth. I try to remind myself of this when I have to repurchase trousers to get ones that fit. Trousers are especially unforgiving to me.

::Hugs:: and please be as kind to yourself as you would another member of YLF. :)

You look fabulous, another great outfit :) I do love that wrap blouse :)

I am a bit late on this, but you look great

  • Angie replied 10 years ago

You truly wear skirts and booties with the best of them. You are so stylish, Shannon. And everything fits really well. Don't be too hard on yourself. xo

  • annagybe replied 10 years ago

Ahh I'm sorry about the body issues.
    You do look good though.
