WIW: Channeling Sir Ceit

As soon as I put this outfit together, I thought of Ceit and it totally made me smile!

I started the outfit with my grey skinnies that I recently purchased. I sized up on these to get a slouchy look and I'm really happy with the fit. On me, they aren't true skinnies and that's what I like about them - nothing restrictive or overly revealing. They need to be hemmed but I haven't gotten around to it and was eager to wear them anyway.

I've paired the jeans with my new Esprit sweater in black and grey. It has a fab silver strip down the front, slightly off center that I adore. The wide boat neck I think works for me. I did a faux tuck showing my black leather belt with gunmetal buckle.

For footwear, I've got on my Doc Marcie boots to add to the Ceit-ness and then for a touch of ladylike, I'm using my grey snakeskin clutch. And of course when I head out the door, I will pop on my bright citron puffer.

So what do you think of my tonal outfit? Does it work on me? As always, all comments/suggestions welcome.

Sweater: Esprit
Jeans: Jessica Simpson
Boots: Doc Martens
Belt: Danier Leather
Clutch: Sondra Roberts (thrifted)
Puffer: Esprit

You make black and grey so fun. That silver strip on the sweater is just so beautiful. Perfect juxtaposition of ladylike and polished RATE. Are the jeans also from the BAy?

In honoured and I want that sweater!!! Oh, you look great!

ETA: sized up skinnies are so great, eh? Glad you found a pair that works -- what brand are they? I really like the darker wash.

ETAA: Doh, I guess I should actually read your posts, hmm? :)

I love the juxtaposition of the boots and clutch. Your sweater is gorgeous, I love the stripe!

Fantastic sweater and I love the fit on your jeans! Love the whole thing!

You look amazing! Very very cool sweater. Is that the Lands End puffer you got last year (my one and only post when I joined the forum was about that :) )?

  • replied 11 years ago

Very 'Ceit' indeed! I love the tonal quality of your fab outfit. I wouldn't change a thing, fab!

Now, we lost our Esprit. I've loved Esprit since the 80's, and I see something like this and can't have it. Well, at least my Canadian sisters have cool sweaters that they don't have to give ridiculous shipping fees for!

Your smile says you know how cool this is! Live long and Prosper!

Shannon this is a fab look for you. I love the sweater - I even looked for it yesterday at The Bay but no luck!

This totally works!! Love, love, love tonal greys WHEN they're done right, and this IS done right :-)

The silver stripe, the belt buckle, the smile on your face all add perfect details.

My other favorite combo is citron with greys!! And yours is fabulous!! I don't remember when you got that puffer, but I'm green-eyed over it.

If you don't get around to hemming to a while, you can always tuck the cuff under the jeans too. I read about that referred to as a French hem trick, or something like that. I've done it occassionally and it stays put nicely.

Ooh - I love that sweater! And you do bring thoughts our our Knight to mind!

Love this outfit - very good for a winter Friday!

I love that sweater! It's totally something I would wear. I think the whole outfit is great with the slouchy skinnies and rolled cuffs.

Mona - yes, the jeans are from The Bay as well. They are carrying quite a bit of the Jessica Simpson line which I have to admit, I quite like. She has a gorgeous cropped floral blazer that would be lovely for spring and lots of beautiful colours and draping.

Ceit - the honour is all mine :)

Elizabeth - this puffer is actually Esprit, which I bought just before Christmas. The LE puffer I bought is a knee length red one, which is fantastic. But I wanted a shorter one to just pop on over jeans and this citron one fit the bill.

Beth Ann - we lost our Esprit stores too but luckly The Bay carries a limited number of Esprit items. It is one of my all time favourite brands and I always check out their stuff when I'm at The Bay.

Thank you Karie, Shevia, Diane, Glory, Sara, Suz, and SaraL!

That offset silver stripe is such an amazing touch to the sweater. Love the monochromatic look with the different sheens and textures. Perfect!

Just as well I was sitting down.
You look amazing in dresses full stop; but there is something about this look on you that really speaks to me.
I love & desire that top too:)

I LOVE this outfit, Shannon! I want to steal it from head to toe. It's monochrome but with so much interest in just the right way.

  • rae replied 11 years ago

What to do but swoon?? The different grays are so fun here, not to mention the pop of citron on top. Gorgeous!

  • Sarah A replied 11 years ago

Adore the sweater (was my fav of your winter pick me up purchases) and with the clutch is brilliant! I think the gray with the citron is so bright and fun. Go TEAM WEAR!

  • rachylou replied 11 years ago

I see the Ceit! Very cool!

  • tarzy replied 11 years ago

That is one cool sweater! (And I really love your glasses!)

  • Aida replied 11 years ago

/highfive tonal grays sister! The off-center stripe on that sweater is a brilliant detail. And I can't get over the clutch paired with the puffer, now THAT is sweet juxtaposition ^^

  • Debora replied 11 years ago

That off center silver stripe is just killing me, I love it so much! You look amazing in this, Shannon.

  • Deborah replied 11 years ago

It's difficult to notice anything but that amazing sweater. It is so cool!! You look wonderful.
