WIW: Casual Chanel-esque

Happy weekend all :)

I have a day full of running around and it's a little cool outside...what to wear, what to wear....ooohhhh I know - that Chanel-esque sweater I bought as a late spring refresher and didn't wear because it then got too hot.

I started with my fave jeans - Ralph Lauren slim BF's and added my taupe snakeskin belt. I then chose my drapey white tee semi tucked and topped that with the grey/cream textured knit sweater. I loved this sweater the moment I tried it on - it's incredibly soft but has structure and I adore the cream trim, pockets and gold buttons. It speaks to the retro lover in me.

The pick up the cream trim in the sweater and mimic the texture of the waffle weave, I chose my cream laser cut oxfords for shoes. I finished off the outfit with my taupe/silver wrap watch, silver wedding band, red snakeskin wallet clutch and red specs.

Ready for the day ahead - what do you think? Have I removed any possible frump factor out of the cardigan?

Doesn't look frump to me. A great casual outfit.
I love your style overall and have spent time looking at what you wear to work as I redefine my work style.

It came out perfectly, and wouldn't be half so good if you didn't have those cream oxfords in the mix.

Fantastic! In fact, you just helped me figure out something I could wear today. Maybe. It won't look half so fab--what a jacket that is! Definitely de-frumped.

    Fab outfit, Shannon!

Love that cardigan!  It seems to me that it would upgrade all kinds of different outfits.

Yes! The oxfords are intensely cool, too.

No frump in sight. You look so classy and chic in this outfit. It's very you. Your shoes bring a level of urban cool to the outfit, as does the super casual tee. This is just how to wear a Chanel-style jacket without looking too-too whatever (too too hip, too too old school, too too trying to be French, too too someone else).

Great outfit! I love a menswear inspired shoe with a feminine Chanel jacket. And it's so simple visually. Beautiful!

No sign of the 'f' word from where I'm standing :) And what Firecracker said...

I'd love to see that sweater with your Doc boots , or moto boots if you have them - I love that kind of juxtaposition between classic and tough and can see you doing that well.

You couldn't be frumpy if you tried! Fab outfit, and I love the sweater:)

    You look terrific!

The only 'f' I see around here is fabulous! And I've been looking for some ways to incorporate my cream oxfords as the weather gets cooler--this is a great idea!

Well done!  Love the mellow but clean color palette for September.  The shoes are fun and practical!

Love it! Great cardi-ket:-). Love the drapey tee, and the shoes are also perfect choice! One of the most stylish casual jeans outfit I have seen in a while:-)

    Cute.

Very nice syling and no frump in sight. The shoes are a clever choice here. Great outfit.

I see no frump, just gorgeous Shannon in a fab outfit :)

  • Shirley replied 9 years ago

Like it a lot. Love the scrunched look. It will be another month at least for us to have weather for that outfit....

  • Jaime replied 9 years ago

No frump at all. Looks great!

  • Lynnski replied 9 years ago

No frump at all. But I'd love to hear tips/ thoughts about HOW you made such a potentially matronly item look so cool. I have a similar cardigan, and I love it but don't quite know how to pull of a chic look without the Frump.

  • Joy replied 9 years ago

Shannon, you don't have a frumpy piece in your closet. This looks neat and crisp. Love the shoes!

Thanks all - I felt comfortable and appropriate for all my errands yesterday. Although I was exhausted by the time I finished!

Frannie - thank you so much. What a lovely compliment.

Lisa - I will toughen up the look later in the season with my Docs although I'm not sure the dark boots will work as well with the light jacket, you know?

Lynnski - I guess it works because I didn't let the "sweetness" take over the outfit. I made sure to add a healthy dose of "urban" with the semi tucked drapey tee, the scrunched sleeves and the shoes. If I had worn the cardigan with a blouse, pencil skirt and pumps, it would have a completely different vibe.

    Killer

    Super Chic. xo

I think it's impossible to pair a chanel-esque cardigan with jeans and have the outfit turn out frumpy. It's such a contrast of strait-laced ladies who lunch and the casual cool factor of jeans it always works to my eye.

Very chic look, Shannon!  Awesome cardigan.
