WIW: Cargo & Citron

Today is a new pairing for me - and I wonder why I never thought of it before!

My outfit started with my dark olive cargo pants to which I added my voluminous grey/olive/cobalt/white pullover. I like how there is olive in both items but a different shade - cohesive but not matchy-matchy.

For footwear, I chose my sand coloured suede wedge booties. When I go outside I'll have on my black Chelsea boots and then will change into my suede booties indoors. Too snowy for suede.

I grabbed my citron handbag as a third version of olive/green - love how the bag makes the olive in the pullover seem brighter and have more presence.

I finished off the outfit with my red specs, silver wedding band and a swipe of bright pink lipstick - adore the clash of the pink lipstick with the red specs.

So that's it - nothing fancy but I'm feeling good in this ensemble. What do you think? does it all work together? All always, all comments/suggestions welcome.

By the way, this pullover is the perfect example of why I will choose merino wool over cashmere. I have had this pullover for going on three years now and not one.single.pill :)

Pullover: Lord & Taylor
Pants: Ricki's
Booties: Toms
Handbag: Sergio Ferretti (gift)

I also like the non-matchy greens here. Interesting about the cashmere vs. wool question - I definitely find cashmere quality varies a lot regarding pills.

Well, I have to admit when I saw olive and citron together I cringed a bit inside... but then I clicked, and I LOVE THIS!!  The olive in the sweater has a real citron influence, and is the perfect go-between for the pants and the purse.

I don't have much cashmere, but I'm also a big merino fan.  Everything merino I have wears and washes very well.

I love khaki and citron - always have and always will. That sweater is the darndest thing- goes with so much, doesn't it?  I love this look - nice change from the usual winter darks. And.....another vote for merino from me.  Great knit.

This outfit could fit into Angie's fresh finds post from yesterday--it's bright and fresh and points toward spring; while keeping you warm in winter. Looks great!

Love the modern colors and slouchy silhouette.  Great way to use this sweater.  If I remember correctly, you almost purged it!

Fabulous. Isn't fun to wear bright citron in the middle of Winter. Looks good with olive. xo

I love this!! It has one of my fave sweaters and my new fave bag! :)

I am with you on merino. If it is a good quality I find it so, so luxe and lovely and much more durable. I have had less good merinos, unfortunately, but the one I have from Lord and Taylor is also great. It got gnawed by a wee moth, alas -- but i had it invisibly mended by Wonder Woman East and still wear it.

Fabbity Fab! Those colors are just perfect for a cold January day. Citron is like a laser of happiness.

Looks great. You look relaxed, too :)

Elizabeth - sorry to have made you cringe - lol! But it's like the stripe in the pullover bridges the two other greens, doesn't it?

Lisa - this sweater has been worn with pretty much everything in my wardrobe...except olive. And now I think it might become one of my favorite color combinations too.

Suz - ha! I knew you'd chime in 'cause of the sweater :)

    Thanks all :)
