WIW: Cardi as a top with skinny slouchies

I have a day of some errand running as well as an appointment later on to get my hair trimmed, so casual comfort is the choice for today. BTW you are all going to get sick of seeing me in these jeans...just saying...

I've paired the skinny slouchies with a Nygard silk blend cardigan I've had for 3-4 years. I love the various shades of purple with black, cream and citron blended in, and the 3/4 length sleeves. I decided today to wear it buttoned up as a top rather than layering it over something. I've semi tucked it into the jeans and am wearing a black leather with gun metal buckle belt.

For footwear, I'm wearing my black wedge booties which have great grip for outside and are partly lined so warm enough for running around outside.

What do you think? Does the sweater work as a top? Proportions ok? As always, all comments/suggestions welcome.

Sweater: Nygard
Jeans: Canyon River
Booties: Blowfish

Love that sweater and it looks wonderful the way you styled it!

That's super, Shannon! The sweater's pattern reads "baroque." What a great way to bring new life to an older cardigan. And there is no way we will get sick of you in your jeans.

    Love it...

You know, there is a little trend going on around the NYC corporate casual scene, that I have not seen much of in the interwebs, and that is to wear cardis backwards so the row of buttons is in the back. They layer them just like a sweater or would wear on their own. You just reminded me of that. Must. try.

Midis are big too, so is the flowerpot look.

Cute and so flattering! I like the neckline you have created but unbuttoning just a few.

Wondering what the flowerpot look is Zap...

Another great combo for you. Sweater as top definitely works and the proportions are modern but not restricting.

I never get tired of seeing a pair of jeans that fits perfectly :)
The cardi is very pretty. Don't you just love Blowfish shoes? They are so comfy!

I am not much into cardigans at all but I like this one: it looks like a sweater and the colors are wonderful!

Great! Love! Want to copy! This is how I like to wear cardigans too and Zapotee's idea is the very next thing I will try.

The flowerpot look is gapey booties with skirts. :)

The cardigan looks wonderful worn this way, Shannon. I love the skinny slouchies.

That is a cardi? I first thought it was a silk blouse or tunic, it falls so well. It's a wonderful cardi! Love the colouring on you and how it drapes.

This is just fantastic! You are really on a roll, Shannon!

This is beautiful! The sweater simply looks like a top, and I love the print --- the placement of the colours and motifs is brilliant. It's a little retro in inspiration, and a lot modern in execution.

Angie - thank you for your comment! As for the casual home runs, I really think it has a lot to do with these jeans and I thank you for that. I love wearing my bootcuts and wide legs for denim but find the Canyon River jeans fill a different type of denim look and makes me feel a tiny bit edgier.

Karie - I've had these Blowfish booties for two years now and they have been incredibly comfy since day one and are holding up really well. I wouldn't hesitate to buy another pair of their footwear.

Krishnidoux - the cardi does have silk in it so maybe that's why it drapes/falls so nicely.

Thank you all for your comments. I do feel like my casual look is starting to come together thanks to all your feedback and suggestions:)
