WIW: Cacophony of Colour

My love of colour and pattern this season knows no bounds! Today is the debut of my wild slightly boho-esque cold shoulder top. I love the swirls and swipes of hot pink, orange, gold-yellow, camel, purple. I also really like the shape of this top - it's quite loose in the chest area, has a keyhole neckline, cut out upper arms, dolman sleeves and than has a bit of ruching on each side at the hip area bringing in all that volume. I've paired it with crisp white jeans so that the colours really shine. I've added my camel leather handbag and my two-tone camel/cream oxford sandals for footwear, and have popped on my white watch for accessories.

Happiness scale in this outfit: 11!

What do you think? Too wild for me? As always, all comments/suggestions welcome.

Top: Laura Petites
Jeans: Jeanne Bekker
Handbag: Mondani New York (thrifted)
Sandals: Aerosoles
Watch: thrifted

I really like this one Shannon. The white pants ground the colorful top and the neutral bag adds a calming influence to the outfit.

The bright colors really work so well for you.

your cacophony of colour leads to a visual symphony of delight.
love this colour on you Shannon, and as Harmonica and Dianthus have said, nice that your accessories are toned done allowing the beautiful blouse to shine in it's starring role.

Very beautiful on you! That blouse is gorgeous and reminds me of a pucci print! The white pants are perfect with it as are the oh so subtle accessories! Consider it pinned! Tell me again where you obtained the blouse?

Shannon, love the top, quite psychedelic! And looks great with white bottoms and nude bag! :)

Beautiful! The fabric might overwhelm you if it were a whole dress, but I think it works as a top. I really like your choice of shoes and accessories to highlight the top's pattern.

*blushing* Thank you so much - what a lovely start to the day!

I can't believe I waited until I was 49 to buy my first pair of white jeans. I was convinced that as a short plump woman, they would be nothing short of hideous on me. But it's all in the fit and the PPL. Keep teaching us these wonderful lessons Angie 'cause I'm soaking up your knowledge like a sponge!

Meredith - I bought the blouse in Laura Petites.

Even though that blouse is a standout piece, I think you are going to be able to remix it brilliantly in your wardrobe! Love it on you. The white denim is too perfect. :)

Can't argue with the happiness scale (not that I'd want to)! Lookin' white hot with those pants and flame-like top!

Wow Shannon, you look absolutely smashing! The fit and length of those jeans is just perfect. So crisp! And I love, love LOVE that colorful top. It looks so modern and the cut really suits your figure. The print and the colors are luscious, just like a juicy peach! YUM. :)

Those swirls of colour are making me think of cotton candy and pinwheels, and twirled ribbons around a may pole, and swirled tubs of gelato, and bright parrot tulips, and marbled trays of dye... lovely, evocative (of summer holiday fun) and extremely joyful, with a good grounding in white (including your hair up top) to keep it light and bright and not overly hectic or psychedelic.

Thanks for letting me know where the blouse was purchased! It is truly lovely!

I would never ever have considered that top in a store, but seeing this am ready to hunt that baby down. Beautiful Shannon!

Lol...I'm beginning to think nothing is too wild for you Shannon:). This is such a great outfit. Love the colors and the pattern, it's a bit of a nod to the 60's and in keeping with your love of retro stylings, however the pairing with the white jeans is contemporary. Love it.

Shannon you are so cute!! I love this outfit, it makes me smile. Great colors, the white jeans and neutral accessories really let them shine to the max. I do want to see non-black specs with this cheerful outfit, though.

  • Jjsloane replied 11 years ago

Nothing too wild for you! I love this. The camel bag and white watch make it amazing.

  • Transcona Shannon replied 11 years ago

Thank you ladies for popping by and chiming in! Much appreciated.

Unfortunately Aida these are the only specs I own and at the price I paid for them, they will be the only ones for a while! Does it help that the sides are white?

  • Beth Ann replied 11 years ago

One of my favorites, Shannon! The top is perfect and the jeans are elongating your line while allowing the top to shine. This top would look terrific with a pencil skirt also.

  • Kiwichik replied 11 years ago

Wow you have really made that top your own love the bright colours and how you have kept everything else neutral so the top can shine without being overpowering.

  • Aida replied 11 years ago

    Yes it does :}
