WIW: Boucle, leather & a big pink scarf

Today's outfit started with this pink scarf, in support of BCAM. I've had this scarf for several years but didn't wear it too often. Last night I cut off the fringe and stitched the two ends together making it into an infinity scarf and now I love it! This is also my first try at the chunky scarf over a dress and jacket look. I'm wearing my old as the hills boucle knit sheath dress and my black leather blazer over that. I realize this look would probably be better without the belt but my waist needed some reining in today, if you know what I mean. I finished off the outfit with the first wearing of my Blondo Vergara boots, black micro fishnets and my black/white leather handbag.

So what do you think? Does this all work together? Can a short-necked petite gal wear a big scarf like this? As always, all comments/suggestions welcome.

Leather jacket: Danier Leather
Dress: Gap
Scarf: Le Chateau (thrifted)
Microfishnets: Hue
Boots: Blondo
Handbag: Danier Leather (thrifted)

I think it works perfectly! I love the belt with it actually, I would keep it. And you're so crafty sewing your scarf together. Perfect for BCAM! Love those boots, they are so awesome! I wouldn't change a thing!

Ok not my place to say, but I'm going to...Killer outfit. #2 actually took my breath away:). The pink is really pretty on you Shannon and those boots are stunning.

Love everything about this outfit. The dress is fantastic and I want it! The boots, love. The scarf - what a great idea to bring new life into it and start wearing it again.

For some reason the word that came to my mind is "delicious". It must be the boucle texture that looks so scrumptious. :) But also the soft-looking leather jacket, the gorgeous texture on the boots etc. The scarf looks great to me.

    You look incredible.

I love boucle!!!(I had once a jacket, but would love for a dress too:-)). And your leather stuff is gorgeous! Beautifull outfit!

Wowza! You look chic in this ensemble! Love that shade/depth of pink with the blacks - it holds its own and by the face so flattering :-)

I'm another boucle lover as I adore texture, and it's always comfy with that bit of stretch. Have a great day to go with the great outfit.

I can see why that dress has earned such longevity in your wardrobe - great piece! The whole outfit is great; I esp. love the touch of white that the bag brings.

  • Kirti replied 11 years ago

The scarf makes you glow Shannon and it adds such a fun pop of colour to the outfit!

  • rae replied 11 years ago

Amazing! I just might copy you and convert my fringed scarves like you did. Wonderful idea!

  • Mo replied 11 years ago

The rich textures in this outfit are fantastic! I think the leather jacket really completes and ties together the whole look. One of my faves of yours!

  • merwoman replied 11 years ago

  • N-Marie replied 11 years ago

I love everything about this outfit- the mixing of textures, the tres chic grey and black with a pop of color, the glam tall boots. You have such a great eye!

  • MsMary replied 11 years ago

Oh, wow! This is just stellar on every level!!

  • Kathleen M replied 11 years ago

I love the scarf with that dress! As a fellow short-necked person, I now feel encouraged to try the infinity scarf look. Thanks!

  • Ingunn replied 11 years ago

You did it - again! What you can achieve wit SYC and SYB seems to be limitless. I really love how you DIY'ed that scarf, too!

  • Day Vies replied 11 years ago

I love this, simply love it. it has all of my favorite elements: structured bag, zippy color, a belt and a fabulous jacket. The scarf is compelling. I love pink and gray together (but not in a foofy delicate way). I like how you are wearing pink here with plenty of edge.

I have clearly got to get a pair of these micro fishnets. They have the power to imbue their wearers with sassy stylishness.

  • annagybe replied 11 years ago

Nicely done, I'd be tempted to leave off the belt. I think it would be more column like with the jacket.

  • Jamie replied 11 years ago

Amazing top to toe!! Can I copy this?

  • Jonesy replied 11 years ago

Wonderful, elegant look! The proportions look fabulous!

  • Aida replied 11 years ago

So cute!! I adore #2 with all the layers. Also I see no short neck. Rock this scarf look, lady!

  • catgirl replied 11 years ago

Nice job, Shannon! I need to find a scarf that works for me. Love this color up against your face too.

  • moira replied 11 years ago

    Shannon,
you are inspiring me every day. Seeing someone with a build similar to mine being so fashion forward and always looking so terrific gives me the confidence to try new things.

  • Transcona Shannon replied 11 years ago

Oh thank you all so much. I'm glad you liked this outfit.

Jamie - I'd be honoured to have you copy this in any way!

Moira - how sweet of you. Thank you. You know - just GO FOR IT! Don't be afraid to try new things. It's a lot of fun :)

  • goldenpig replied 11 years ago

#2 is one of my favorite outfits on you ever! The perfect combination of sweet and edgy! The pink scarf is the perfect touch! You are so inspiring. Love the boots on you too!

  • CocoLion replied 11 years ago

You look stunning Shannon, the pink scarf adds a lot to this look. I like it with the belt, it's flattering and not too much with the scarf which was my fear without seeing the pictures. But you've made it work. I think your short cut really lends itself to scarves, plus to my eye you have a long neck. (I saw in another thread that you didn't think your neck was long, it has always looked elegantly long to me.)

  • Suz replied 11 years ago

What a fantastic look, Shannon. I love the pink, but most of all I love the play of textures here. It is ladylike (the scarf) and also a bit rugged (the leather) and it also feels very distinctive to me.

  • trinity replied 11 years ago

What a clever idea to convert your scarf! I may have to try that. You look so fab, especially in #2. LOVE this look.

  • Susie replied 11 years ago

You have incredible style, Shannon, and such a knack for creating interesting combinations. This looks fantastic! I love the softness of the pink scarf added to the leather. And those boots are fabulous!

  • Joy replied 11 years ago

Love the textures and the scarf is brilliant. I've just cut off fringe from a blue scarf to try your idea.

  • ritu replied 11 years ago

    I really like 2 one.

  • Isabel replied 11 years ago

YUP...a 10 !!!! No doubt about it. The fit is wonderful, the texture mix is fab..and then the addition of a pink scarf....feeling faint.

  • rachylou replied 11 years ago

    Simple, neat, full of impact!

That dress is amazing on you!
