WIW: Boots & Leather

I must have tried on 30 items last night when deciding what to wear this morning and when I put on this combination, I audibly sighed with relief. This is, in Angie's terms, a "quintessential Shannon outfit" - pencil skirt, topper, boots. More on what I discovered while trying on pretty much everything I own in a separate post. But now, on to today's outfit.

The outfit is centred around the Doc boots as it is going to be a very busy day with a fair bit of running around - happy feet are a must.

To the boots I added black tights and my black knit pencil skirt (going on 4-5 years old). I then added a black camisole topped with my drapey black and white Victoria ballerina tee. This tee is showing some wear now and will probably be relegated to the "around the house" capsule after today. It has been an amazing workhorse.

I then topped all of that with my bone coloured leather jacket, added my black leather handbag, red specs and silver wedding band. I actually would have liked to change the handbag to something colourful like my yellow clutch or dark red Carter shoulder bag but I'm afraid I was just too lazy.

What do you think? Is it all working together? Is this outfit ME? As always, all comments/suggestions welcome.

Jacket & handbag: Danier Leather
Tee: Smart Set
Skirt: Cleo Petite
Boots: Doc Martens

Love this combination of rock chic!

Your audible sigh of relief said it all. You look wonderful in this neutral-colors ensemble! The Doc Martens juxtapose brilliantly with your fab white jacket and the pencil skirt. Wear and enjoy!

Yes, fab&very you, and if would have had that amazing cream leather jacket, then it would be also very Meeeeeeeeeeee:-))

Indeed a Shannon look - and another great one!  I love that t!!  Tell me, as I'm wanting a knit pencil/tube skirt for winter too, is your skirt lined ?  Would love a heavier versions of the VC tube for winter - if you know what I mean...

I agree it is very YOU. It looks great. A little fun, some cool and sophistication all in one. I hate the process of not finding something, but this in the end was worth all your other tries.

Another winner Shannon!  Love everything about this.

Looking forward to your musings about trying everything on :).  I must say, I'm impressed that you do that.  I stare blankly at my closet in the morning and think "seriously?"

Lisa, I have a ponte pencil skirt, which is unlined.  Super comfortable. That might be what you are looking for... best heavy version of a VC tube that I can think of!  Mines from Jacob :(.

Oh, what a beautiful jacket that is on you! This outfit does read as very Shannon...I like it! I would never have thought to do a graphic tee for work, what a fun touch.

  • Angie replied 9 years ago

K-Word Worthy - and a QSO for sure. The tee is super fun for work, especially since the rest of the outfit is very polished.

Oh yes, this is definitely a "Shannon Signature" look.  Pencil skirt, floaty top with bold color or interest, a topper with luxe structure (sometimes it's luxe drape) --- topped off (or perhaps more accurately, grounded) by bold, but comfortable footwear.

    And you look stunning!

Oh thank you so much ladies - I feel sooooooo good today :)

Lisa - this black knit-blend skirt (I also have it in cobalt blue) came from Cleo (Petite side). They are a bit heavier and almost have a bit of sheen to them that seems to make them non-clingy. They are not lined but they don't stick to anything...they're a Teflon skirt - lol!

Love it and yes, totally Shannon in a perfect manner!

  • Neel replied 9 years ago

Yep! Definitely Shannon :). Love those docs. They seem to take every outfit from fab to super fab!

By the way Angie, I forgot to mention that I love that I have my own acronym - "QSO" :)

Relief indeed, there's both edge and softness. Love the contrast of styles and colors.

Good, a skirt I can eat my lunch off of:)

    Boots & Leather Jacket= perfect combination :-)
But what about black leather boots + black leather pencil skirt, hmm?

  • Robidi replied 9 years ago

    Perfect combination!

  • Caro in Oz replied 9 years ago

So you I could squeal with delight :) The tee & the boots modernise & toughen up the classics imo.

  • Sveta replied 9 years ago

True Shannon indeed! You were born to wear leather jackets, pencil skirts and boots dear :-)

  • catgirl replied 9 years ago

Yes it's you and it's wonderful!

I recently loaded all my outfit photos off cameras into a folder on the computer (which my husband named "I Look Fab" - haha) and in clicking quickly through several months of photos, I was able to see a lot more style patterns and consistency than I expected. Sometimes just certain prints, or color, or silhouette, or footwear - but that broad view helped me feel that I'm not as random as I sometimes feel.

When you have time, try it - you will see it all with new eyes!

YES, I love this. YES, it works beautifully. YES, this is pure Shannon, fabulous and fun.

QSO! Great compliment and definitely deserved!

  • Firecracker (Sharan) replied 9 years ago

Yes, definitely a Shannon look, and awesome from head to toe. I like the black bag with it, too. In a way, I think a colored bag might detract a little bit from the other elements of interest here--the fab jacket, artful tee, and tough boots.
