WIW: Bold black & white

The heat and humidity has arrived in Winnipeg so it's time to break out the sleeveless tops and lighter layers. Of course, then you have to contend with the A/C when you go indoors….ahhh…the joys of summer dressing :)

Today's outfit started with my VC black/white stripe tube skirt. Love these skirts so much (I have 3) - they are the perfect summer weight without being flimsy. I paired the skirt with my asymmetrical EF sleeveless tunic - again, the perfect summer weight and non-cling factor. Plus I absolutely love the wide shoulder straps for bra strap coverage and the underarm fit is fantastic - no side bra issues at all.

My PF is flaring up so comfy footwear was an absolute must - today's choice are my Naot black cross-strap shoes.

I went with my Kelly green handbag which I haven't used in ages as a nice pop of colour against the black and white. Because of the office A/C I always need to have that topper/completer piece with me just in case. I chose my white denim jacket but I'm not sure the length works with the long asymmetrical tunic. White watch, red specs and red lip finish off the outfit.

Thoughts on this outfit in general? Specifically, does the white denim jacket work or should I go with something longer? As always, all comments/suggestions welcome.

I think the length of the jacket works well. And your gift for accessorizing continues to inspire.
The sharp geometry of this outfit suggests that the very short haircut would look good with your style :-)
    Just sayin'.

IMHO I think the jacket is the right length for the tunic. I think if it was longer it would compete with its angle. The pop of green is great with your lovely outfit!

At first look, I was questioning the length of the jacket too. Reading Donna's reply above, I think she is right, any other length would compete with the angle. I think that EF tunic is fabulous on its own.
So, yes once again, superb outfit. The green is a nice accent as well.

Great tunic. I want one.  This is a perfect outfit for today - I'm still sitting here at my desk in my pj's trying to figure out what to wear today - maybe I'll do a Shannon copy.  As for the jacket - I honestly don't know either.  I've run across this dilemma too, and can never decide if it works or not.  I think for a quick toss-on in the office it's absolutely fine....just not 100% positive it's the right length. It's creating another definite line .... ;I don't know.  Lol.

Love the outfit best without the jacket but I think the jacket works.

I love the graphic black and white with the spot of color. Really a great look for you. Sleek and professional and weather-functional. A-plus.

Hey we are twins!! I have the skirt and tunic from last year and that combo was my favorite way to wear the skirt. Haven't yet this year but I will!

This outfit sounds wonderful - comfortable, stylish yet playful,...totally something I'd wear. This sounds like it has a really put-together look with plenty of whimsy provided by the tunic hem.

Fabulous, Shannon! Love the asymmetrical tank!

This looks fabulous and inspiring. My assymetrical EF tunic is not as long, probably more of a top. Now I want to try it with my VC leopard tube skirt ad I don't have a striped one. I think the white jacket works well here. I'm liking my old long Bobeau open cardigans best with these tops.

Love the outfit, especially the angular top. I am not sure about the jacket and struggle with this issue too. I think Donna is probably right about a longer jacket not working but I not sure whether the high contrast more structured jacket is the way to go. Maybe something the same length but less structured (like a knit) would be better. You still look totally fab.

My apologies for not replying earlier. We had an incident at work today that completely took over my entire day.

Luckily with all the running around I did as a result, my jacket was too warm and I was able to wear the outfit without the jacket. And that is how I much preferred it.

I also prefer without the jacket, but would absolutely wear the jacket in the a/c. The green bag is an excellent touch.
