WIW: Blush & Black

My blush leather moto jacket arrived yesterday…and it was black! They had sent the wrong jacket. I phoned my local store and luckily the blush jacket had finally arrived in store so I was able to go and exchange it for the correct colour. The SA had me try on the size I had ordered and when I did, she asked if I would be willing to try on one size up. She felt this particular jacket looked fabulous a little looser. I did and she was right. This size also zips up quite comfortably and I've decided I prefer that. The jacket is a little heavier than I had thought and so will work great as an outdoor jacket as well, in which case I'm glad I can do it up.

I've the paired the jacket with a simple ensemble of my black slouchy trousers and my black/white silky graphic tee. I chose my large cream handbag to pull out the white ballerina on the tee and am debuting my new black sandal shoes. This is the same brand as my bone/silver sandal shoes I bought last year and have determined are the best footwear choices I have ever made. You'll be seeing a lot of these.

Pink lipstick and black/white specs finish off the outfit.

P.S. The sleeves on the leather jacket need shortening but I don't want to lose three weeks of wearing weather so am just folding over and scrunching for now. Once it's too hot to wear the jacket, I'll send it in to have the sleeves shortened.

So what do you think? Does this work? As always, all comments/suggestions welcome.

Jacket & handbag: Danier Leather
Trousers: Ricki's
Tee: Smart Set
Shoes: Fugitive

P.P.S. I hate the way my wall colour makes the blush look!

Lovely! It is more pink here than on the website and this color suits you so well. it would play beautifully with all your black, grey and white items.

So the wrong color was a happy accident! How pretty this is and a big yay for those shoes.

You look so pretty and springy in you new jacket, Shannon. LOVE!

  • Beth Ann replied 9 years ago

Team wear!  Love it, Shannon, it's a lovely, deep, sophisticated blush, without the orangey tint I sometimes see in the color.  Very soft, but grown up.

You look terrific.  Modern and ready to move and work --- the outfit has a great "energy" to it, if you know what I mean.

Now...... to get into my gardening clothes and tackle my mom's winter-scorched ivy!  I will not be fashionable today!

Shannon....you look amazing in your new blush moto.....what a great color on you....just stunning!

  • Ingunn replied 9 years ago

LOVE! It's perfect for you! Beautiful color on you, and the sizing looks just right.  I love the styling here - very chic indeed. I guess it was a serendipity that they sent you the wrong color - meaning you ended up with a better size for you. How cool is that!

Thanks ladies :) I had to laugh this morning when I stopped at Starbucks and my usual male barista (do you still call a male a barista?) Jay said "oooh pretty in pink - coffee's on me this morning". How cute is that?

I'm anxious to try the jacket with my olive cargos, white jeans, black/white striped tube skirt, faded BF's, EF dress, cobalt pencil skirt...

Your jacket is awesome, and sizing up was smart! Love the fit and the color!

  • jackiec replied 9 years ago

All I can say is wow. But seriously, the shoes stole my heart at first glance!!!

  • Joy replied 9 years ago

Shannon, I want you to duplicate everything in this post in my size and send it to me ASAP! Best ever! I soooo want that blush jacket.

  • Neel replied 9 years ago

Perfect jacket with a happy ending :) .... Pretty shoes too!

  • Suz replied 9 years ago

This is beautiful! It looks more like a very soft pink (less peachy) and this is better for you....I absolutely love it. I agree that it was a good idea to size up. Now you have more versatility. I am so tempted by this jacket, but I notice that I really only wore my leather jackets about 6 times each in the fall -- and won't get much chance to wear them in what promises to be a very short spring. So I'm holding off for now in favour of fabric.

I did what you're planning with my sleeve shortening in my white jacket last year. I worked just fine and then when the temperature rose I took the jacket in for shortening.

Love the jacket. So glad it all worked out!

Smooth! I love the original Fugitives so much, and part deux is a great sequel. I'm glad they sent you the wrong jacket, because it made things work out even better.

Amazing ... blush and black is such a great combo ... all the pieces are awesome.

  • kkards replied 9 years ago

love this! and what a fab barista you have to notice what you are wearing!

  • Transcona Shannon replied 9 years ago

Golden - I'm so glad the SA suggested sizing up. It really is so much better. Whoo hoo for SA's who know their products and current fit trends!

jackiec - thanks for the shoe love :)

Joy - you're so sweet. I think you need a blush jacket...

Neel & Debbie - isn't it funny how things worked out perfectly? I love it when that happens.

Suz - it is definitely more on the pink side, which does indeed work better for my coloring - and my wardrobe! I'm thinking I can wear this jacket a fair bit since it looks like our spring is coming in slowly and then again in the fall.

JulieJohn - if you ever have the chance to try on any Fugitive shoes you will see why I rave about them. Soooooo comfortable and unique.

Angie - glad to be on the Blush Moto Team - thanks for welcoming me :)

Diana - thank you so much. I must admit that I feel pretty darned good in this outfit.

torontogirl - in my world, black goes with EVERYTHING!

kkards - Jay has been making my coffee for years now as I stop there every morning on the way to work. I guess after all that time you can't help but notice what someone is wearing.

Thank you all for the feedback and positive comments - always appreciated :)

OMG, I would have had a heart attack opening up that box! Glad you got it sorted out though. The jacket looks fantastic, and I like the fit! And yeah, interesting you mentioned the wall -- definitely some orange sherbety tones coming out that are not there in the last pic :)

  • Kiwichik replied 9 years ago

    Love the blush jacket

  • Diana replied 9 years ago

PS - I'm glad you got the right jacket in the end.  I was reminded of the first time I tried to order the turquoise leather moto, and they sent me bright pink instead!  In my case, the turquoise was sold out and I had to wait a year when they decided to make it again.

  • Aida replied 9 years ago

OH! How fab Shannon, I'm excited that you finally have your blush moto! Looks wonderful paired with black, especially with the bit of white from the shirt's print. The pink lippie is also a lovely match, a bit softer and probably helps soften all the black even further. (I'm wearing my blush moto today too, highfive!)

  • Jenava replied 9 years ago

You look divine!  How on earth did you live without this jacket!  (-:

  • Jaime replied 9 years ago

Love the jacket! Love the shoes! Love the whole outfit!

  • Karie replied 9 years ago

Your blush moto looks fabulous on you! Good idea to size up for a looser fit. You'll get a lot of wear out of it this spring I'm sure!

  • rae replied 9 years ago

It's beautiful, Shannon! I love the color... not too nude or yellow or pale. Just perfect!
