WIW: Blue Stripes & White

I realized this morning while getting dressed that I am following one of Angie's desires for us by wearing the heck out of my stuff this season. I find it most interesting that my wardrobe (including footwear) is smaller this spring/summer than it's ever been and yet I'm happier with what I have. I guess this boils down to choosing my items more thoughtfully than I did in previous seasons/years and really loving what I have. It's a good feeling :)

Today's outfit started with my blue/navy/white striped blouson style midi dress. I added my thinner white leather belt at the waist and topped the dress with my white blazer, which has already turned into a summer workhorse. Footwear consists of my Fugitive bone/silver sandals and my handbag is Little Bag Blue.

Happiness factor? Sky high.

Would love your observations - how does this all look to your eye? As always, all comments/suggestions welcome.

    absolute love. I think the blue and white is so crisp and fresh for spring and summer and both colours are great for you. The white blazer has turned out to be a terrific wardrobe addition. The new danier - love.

    Makes me happy too! I have a very similar dress -- it's a Lauren midi with diagonal white stripes -- that I wear with a white linen blazer for work. Navy and white is cheerful!

    Looks great! This time what I noticed was the exact length of the dress, which I think is perfect. It is like every one of your outfits has that just so detail - pointy pumps, perfect length midi - that adds just the right touch of ladylike to the mix without going overboard or losing the other elements. Eureka! I think that is what I have been going for (especially since I got my hair cut) without having quite formulating it into words before now.

    Glory - I'm actually shocked at how much I want to wear this white blazer and how it has already turned into an absolute MUST for my summer style.

    Laura - white and any shade of blue is quickly becoming my favorite color combo for warmer weather months. It's crisp and cheery.

    Shevia - it's very interesting to me that you mention a ladylike element in each of my outfits. When I was experimenting a few months back with more masculine/tomboyish outfits, although enjoying the experience of stretching myself, I always felt like something was "off". I have figured out that I absolutely must wear at least one girly thing in every outfit in order to still feel feminine. If I'm wearing BF jeans and a slouchy top, I need to wear my pointy toe pumps and carry a feminine handbag; if I'm wearing a dress, I can wear my oxfords - KWIM? An all masculine outfit with my short hair doesn't make me feel good.

    Shevia hit it. The length of the dress is perfect. I love that just-below-the-knee midi length, too. She's right -- it is ladylike. It's also lengthening. Makes me feel automatically taller, you know?

    You've streamlined your wardrobe and found the happy place between minimal/maximal, girly/tomboy, modern/retro, colorful/peaceful neutrals.  You are a model of moderation and magnificence!  Of glamour and sensible restraint!

    Too bad you're Canadian.  You'd make a great President!
