WIW: Black & Blush

Time to bust out this Zara wool jacket I thrifted in August! I love the asymmetrical, kind of arty-edgy vibe this jacket has. It looks great undone with a column of color underneath, done up part way to show the wide lapels, done up part way (as I'm wearing it today) and even done up completely for a totally different look and feel.

I've paired the jacket with my wide legged Express Editor trousers and my black patent Ara booties. For my handbag I chose my black/white leather bag and then jewelry is my gold wedding band and rose gold/black watch.

Because this taupey-blush shade is not the absolute best for me I'm wearing eyeshade today to add a bit more color to my face and of course, a swipe of my fall burgundy lip color.

What do you think? does it all work together? Gotta say my happiness factor is waaaaaaaay up there!

Jacket: Zara (thrifted)
Trousers: Express Editor (eBay)
Boots: Ara
Handbag: Danier Leather (thrifted)
Watch: Fossil

Shannon this is a fab ensemble - chic and classic. I have to confess to be smitten with those booties.

Oh, fun, Shannon! It has your retro elements in there. I think a black jet brooch to mimic the patent boots would be a fun addition to the blazer.

I love everything about those boots and they add so much to the outfit.  Very ladylike look which is right up your style alley.

Gorgeous.....love the blush jacket, what a great find, and that handbag is just right :)

Shannon this is very elegant.  I love the cut of the jacket.  You side stepped being washed out by the the jacket's color brilliantly but amping up the make up.  I think this looks wonderful.

What a great jacket! I can't wait to see it in its other variations.

    You win!
    Pure gorgeousness!

Another brilliant ensemble, Shannon!  I love the lines of the jacket and the patent booties are fab.

Feminine and chic, Shannon.  The jacket is beautiful, and staging it simply allows it to shine.

    Brava!

What a fun style! A little arty and a little retro at the same time. The cut of the jacket is very interesting. Love the blush over the darker column of color. You look very chic and ladylike.

I want to steal this whole outfit!

Love love love the jacket!!  The handbag is just perfect with this outfit!  Another winner :)

  • Suz replied 10 years ago

Love this! It's a moment for the retro / feminine side to come out and play -- in trousers! Looking great, Shannon. The colour actually looks lovely from here.

Cute blazer!  I like the romance of it, but the outfit is not frivolous at all, anchored by the sleek boots.  Fab.

  • Sanet replied 10 years ago

I love it and love that jacket. So chic!

Such a cute jacket. I love the feminine retro feel it has. The color is actually not bad on you. It's a cool beige (you can see how the wall behind you is warmer) and your amped up make-up really looks pretty. I like how the dark buttons on the blazer pick up the dark shade of your bottoms. I can see why this outfit is making you so happy!

You look lovely and just a touch retro!  I lvoe the fact that you letthe jacket take center stage and shine.

  • kkards replied 10 years ago

what a fab jacket. this is so my kind of outfit! love!

Funny - I didn't see the jacket as having a retro vibe until I saw the pictures.

Ceit - LOVE the idea of a black brooch. Will have to go digging at my local thrift stores for the "right" one.

Neel - thanks for the comment on the handbag. I wasn't entirely sure this was the right one to choose so thank you.

Suz - I'm lucky in that the color of the jacket is  taupe that leans more towards pink than beige. It gives me hope that the pink blazer I ordered will be a good color.

For those who commented on the boots, I'm just as smitten and am sooooo glad I bought these. Not only are they fab looking, they are fab feeling!

Thank you all so much for the lovely comments. I must say I feel pretty snappy in this ensemble and even feel tall in it (at least 5'3" - lol!)

How did i miss this yesterday!?  Stunning Shannon.  I have to say my happiness scale is sky high just viewing this beautiful outfit.  Please wear this often, it is just beautiful on you.  I love the simplicity here with the lovely detail of the jacket providing the 'interest' factor.

  • sarah replied 10 years ago

Gosh, you are so sassy and fun in this outfit! You need to wear those trousers often (maybe you already do ; )  ). And they are perfect with that jacket.

  • Sara L. replied 10 years ago

You look great!  The jacket has such interesting details.  I also add a little more makeup when I wear colors that don't look that good on me.

  • Sharon replied 10 years ago

I love the jacket! I see a retro, '40s kind of look to it, but it also looks modern. What a great find. I was interested to see how it played with the black as I'm not usually a fan of pastels and black together, but this works really well, I guess because it picks up on the buttons. Great outfit.

  • Emily replied 10 years ago

The jacket is such a fab find!  It fits beautifully.  It looks arty but ladylike and proper buttoned up with your pants and those patent booties, and I can't wait to see it in other combinations.

  • Karie replied 10 years ago

Great jacket! It does have an arty vibe to it, and you've styled it beautifully. Those booties are divine!

  • Mia replied 10 years ago

Wow, a clinic in how to wear your "not so best colours".  Love the modern vintage vibe of this.

  • Eliza replied 10 years ago

You look great in this. Love the retro feel and the patent leather. What caught my eye first though, is your gorgeous hair. Beautiful.

  • Debora replied 10 years ago

Ooh, love the bright lip color! Shannon, you are absolutely stunning in this jacket.

  • Angie replied 10 years ago
