WIW: Autumn Blush

My blush patterned BCBG blouse is one of my favourite purchases from this summer (thank you Angie!) and I'm wanting to extend its wear into autumn 'cause I'm not ready to put it away yet.

Today I paired the blush kimono-esque blouse with a black tank and black bootcut trousers. I think the full length trousers "autumnize" the blouse but doesn't make it look seasonally confused.

For footwear, I went with my metallic charcoal Naot Mary-Jane pumps. These probably aren't the sleekest looking shoe with these trousers but my arches are quite sore this morning so support and comfort are key.

On top of everything when I head out the door - and in fact, may keep on in the office depending on the a/c temperature - is my blush leather jacket. I had Danier Leather shorten the sleeves and narrow them slightly over the summer and I much prefer the fit now. The neckline of the blouse and jacket probably compete a bit but that doesn't bother me in the least.

To finish off the outfit, I chose my gold watch and wedding ring, black/white specs and my black leather handbag. I like how the hardware in the jacket and handbag are the same gold tone.

What do you think? Does the blouse work for autumn? As always, all comments/suggestions welcome.

Jacket & handbag: Danier Leather
Blouse: BCBGMaxAzria
Tank: Smart Set
Trousers: Reitmans
Watch: thrifted

Gorgeous outfit. With its elbow length sleeves I don't see why you couldn't wear this blouse all year round. I think it would look great over the holidays with a black skirt ( lace maybe?) and a dressy clutch.

I agree -that's a great outfit. I think you hit the perfect note for fall.

Fab, Shannon!! That blouse is so beautiful on you, which I will never tire of saying. And I just love seeing an item get worn and reworn and loved in so many ways.

That blouse is gorgeous, no wonder it's a favorite. It pairs beautifully with your leather jacket.

That shade of blush pink looks amazing with your complexion and hair! Love how you're bringing this beautiful blouse into fall.

This is beautiful. So glad you can wear your top into fall. Love your jacket--and the way you have rolled the sleeves.

I have to agree that the blouse is beautiful on you ^_^ And the blush jacket is lovely too. But I really like the outfit without the jacket. The jacket covers the pretty pattern on the blouse :(

Beautiful! I am crazy about that blush moto on you Shannon!

So lovely. Yes, the blush blouse definitely works for autumn! I'm really beginning to see blush as a neutral these days, like cream, and hence appropriate all year round.

Lovely colors!  It's great that you have a blush topper too to wear in transit, I love the tonal consistency.

Totally works for fall!  Every time I go in BCBG I secretly hope I will find that top hidden somewhere in my size. Never happens.  I love wearing something seasonally unexpected like that but clearly intentional (with the black and with a fall leather jacket).  You wear this colour really nicely too !

Oh shoot! Why didn't I buy that? I love that!

Love the bootcuts with the tunic, Shannon.  Proportions are fab!

  • catgirl replied 9 years ago

    Yes, yes it does.

And here you are wearing the shoulder cut Kelly was talking about.  See how great it looks on you as opposed to how it would look IT me?

  • Joy replied 9 years ago

Yes, yes, yes! Grounded with the full length black pants and the extra warmth of that beautiful leather jacket, the outfit is ready for fall.

You look like the cool girl at school.

  • Ingunn replied 9 years ago

Perfection! I think the blouse must be a year round staple for you. It's gorgeous.

I love this outfit. Who knew blush and a lot of black look so fab together? I miss one photo though, between yours 2 and 3, the one with the jacket but without the bag. Somehow the bag made the bottom half visually heavier than I like, because I want to keep my focus on the top part of the outfit IYKWIM. But the bags stays at the desk throughout the day, right ;-) Great stuff.

I can see why you want to keep wearing that blouse. It looks perfect on you! Love the color of your leather jacket. I hope you find more ways to wear both further into the colder weather!

Beautiful Shannon! Love this look and the Danier is fun as a topper. We are BCBG twins and you make me wish I had a blush topper for mine. I have paired it with a one button tuxedo style blazer successfully in cooler spring; you make me want to wear it more before it gets too cold.

    You look great!
