WIW: Ankle Pant Pseudo Suit

Today's outfit started with my slim leg EF cropped pants. I enjoy wearing these both unrolled (as they are today) and rolled, to be capri length.

I paired the cropped pants with a wrap front, black/white stripe sleeveless blouse. I then topped that with my black blazer (from my skirt suit) to make a pseudo suit.

I added my kitten heel pointy toe pumps and my black leather handbag. Red specs and red lipstick, as well as my large silver/white watch finish off the outfit.

I think black and white will always be my favourite combination to wear. I adore the high contrast.

What do you think? does this work? As always, all comments/suggestions welcome.

Blazer: Nygard
Blouse: Smart Set

Does this work?  Come on.... FANTASTIC!
Black and white is one of my favs as well.  Nicely done.

I too adore black and white and it's obvious why it's a favorite of yours, Shannon. You wear it very, very well. Those cropped pants paired with your shoes are perfect to me and show enough skin to be summery. Your red specs sparkle against the black...nice!

    Elizabeth - :)

Aquamarine - I'm glad the ankle pants and kitten heels give a hint of summer. I know this isn't the most summery of outfits but then our cool and rainy weather doesn't exude summer either :(

Thanks Donna, Lyn and Shevia :)

Totally love this . I also have some black ankle pants and was precisely thinking about buying a black blazer to do a pseudo-suit.
    You look amazing!

I love it, Shannon!! Your pretty ankles make it seem summery to me. Slouchy fabness.

The soft drape of the blouse is a great balance for the structure of the black pieces -- and I also like a bit of ankle showing, too.  Is the watch silver?  It's not easy to tell from the photo.  A white watch would be a fun change, too.

Ooohh .. I love your cropped pants psuedo suit look :). Very sharp yet fun.

Personally Shannon, I prefer those pants rolled for structure with those pumps because it narrows the hem and creates a more fashionably intentional look. The length would work well unrolled with a high black ankle strap shoe or black cage heels. You know I'm Queen Pedantic About Length and Fit, so take my opinion for what it is worth to you. If you like to wear them this way - go for it. I'm a sucker for a suit and love that bag.

High five for loving black and white - you know I do too. And will forever, with you. xo

Beth Ann - yes, the watch is silver (chrome actually). I agree that a white watch would look good with this. Mine is actually at the jeweler being repaired so will try when I get it back.\

Angie - you are an adorable Queen Pedantic About Length :)  It's funny, I really like these ankle pants rolled when I'm not wearing a blazer - I like the shorter length when just paired with a tee or knit pullover. But I kind of like the longer length when paired with the black blazer. Seems more "suitish" if that makes sense. But I totally hear what you're saying.

This is going on my fave list.  I love how the wrap mimics a button down without the neck shortening of a collar.  Must remember that trick.

  • Angie replied 9 years ago

Sure, Shannon. And you're a sport. xo

Black and white and red lipstick look fantastic with your skin tone and hair! It works, it works!

Neat-o keen. I just love the whole idea of a "pseudo suit". The kitten heel pumps are just right. Not any pair of kitten heel pumps would look as good.

Everything works perfectly together! Love it. Looking good, Shannon.

Does it work?? You look super fabulous in this outfit! Pseudo-suit--love it! I think a good portion of what makes this outfit such a stand-out is the fit of everything on you. Every piece just looks made for you. The bag and shoes are perfect.
