WIW: Animal Print, White & Citron

I decided today to lighten things up a little as a nod to Spring - should it ever arrive!

Today's outfit started with my white BF jeans, full length, over top of my beige cowboy-esque boots. Paired with my jeans, I went with my black/white animal print tunic length pullover, again full length and no semi tuck. I like how simple the silhouette is without the semi tuck.

I grabbed my citron bag for a pop of colour - I think I've found a new favourite combination: animal print and citron. I finished off the outfit with my ebony/silver watch, red specs and red lipstick.

Thoughts ladies? Does the pullover work untucked with the white jeans? As always, all comments/suggestions welcome.

Pullover: Cleo Petite
Jeans: True Religion (eBay)
Boots: Heavenly Feet (thrifted)
Handbag: Sergio Ferretti (gift)
Watch: Fossil

(Check out how weird my lighting went in that first pic compared with the second…)

I really like this on you. Looks bright and has lots of sass and character. The animal print top seems perfect untucked, vey relaxed. The print is not too big. The citron bag makes me happy, and I want the boots.
I think it is the white jeans that make this work, though. Without them, not nearly as much pop.
    Nice!

that bag is to die for!

  • Windchime replied 9 years ago

Very fun outfit, and the citron definitely brings spring to the look! You look great in the animal print and white jeans. Nice choice of watchband, too

  • Suz replied 9 years ago

I absolutely love this on you, Shannon! It really does evoke spring. What a great mix.

Are those boots okay with the heel? Great thrifting, by the way. Who doesn't need a lighter pair of booties? I have only my python ones and sometimes long for more.

  • Jaime replied 9 years ago

The heels make up for the lack of tuck - can you walk in them all day? The bag is fab as ever!

  • jackiec replied 9 years ago

Fab. The citron bag ties it together and makes it SPRING :) :)

  • trekkiegirl replied 9 years ago

I do like the top un tucked, and I don't think it would have the same effect if semi tucked. And the citron combo is really cool!!

Agree with leaving the top untucked.  Fresh and pretty look today!  How do you keep those boots clean?  (and I realize you are not likely wearing them outside but still!) I keep touching and looking at pale coloured boots in stores, but fear they'll look grungy in no time.  And some of them in stores do as customers pick them up and handle them etc.  What do you do with yours ?

Olivegreen - I totally agree that the outfit would not have the same spring "ooomph" if the pants were a different color.

Rute & jackiec - I'll tell hubby about your bag comments since he bought me the bag :)

Windchime - can you believe I actually kind of forgot I had this watch? Shame on me!

Suz & Shevia - these boots had enough room for me to pop in my trusty orthotics so they are quite comfy. I don't think I'd want to walk 10 miles in them but they are just fine for a day at work. And it's true about the heel making up for the non tuck - with the python Petty's the outfit falls a bit flat.

trekkiegirl - that's how I felt about the top too. I like the kind of "flow" with it untucked and felt the semi tuck looked too fussy here.

lisap - I sprayed these boots with waterproof protector that I bought at Soft Moc. I've used that spray for a few years now and swear by it.

Great outfit - love this top untucked, you look really great!  I'm enjoying black and white lately too.

  • lyn67 replied 9 years ago

Wow, how. did. you. dare. wear. WHITE(!!!!) jeans in your weather????? OMG! Extra fab! If you did it there(in the minuses and slush) can I do it either (pluses and no slush here...just not spring yet:-)).

  • AM replied 9 years ago

Love how the bag feels like spring and ties everything together. Well done!

  • Summer replied 9 years ago

I love it all, Shannon, and the untucked top looks perfect to me.

  • rachylou replied 9 years ago

    Fantastic and flattering.

Gorgeous. I'm so starved for spring, and your white and citron are absolutely perfect!
I agree with lyn67, though. How do you keep it looking good in your weather?

  • Ruth M replied 9 years ago

You're right about animal and print making a fab pairing, Shannon. You look great from top to toe. (Beautiful band on your wristwatch, by the way.)

  • Joy replied 9 years ago

As I look out at lots of fresh snow coming down, your nod to spring is so welcome. I agree with Olivegreen that the white pants make the outfit. Your boots too. I think I'd like the top semi tucked at one side but it looks fine loose. I will have an eye out for a citron bag. It does look wonderful with animal print.

  • Thistle replied 9 years ago

Oooh, so fab!!  I love this outfit! The long column of white with the shoes, the animal print, and the pop of citron - spectacular!

  • Style Fan replied 9 years ago

Love the combination of animal print and citron.  Very daring of you to wear white this time of year.

  • Transcona Shannon replied 9 years ago

textstyle - black and white will ALWAYS be a staple in my wardrobe. I never tire of it.

lyn67 & Zibbets - I will admit I'm walking very carefully in the slush! I actually don't have much outdoor walking to do today so I figured why not? And I decided if the white jeans get dirty, I'll just wash them. I'm tired of waiting for dry spring weather.

AM, Summer and Rachy - thank you all so much for your sweet words :)

Angie - Triple S. I like that. Maybe that's what I'm after these days.

RuthM - my husband bought me this watch several years ago and it was the strap that we both fell in love with. It's Ebony wood with a stainless steel overlay on top.

Joy - I'm pretty sure you need a citron bag :)

Thistle & Stylefan - thanks so much.

  • CocoLion replied 9 years ago

I like.  You wear that length of top well.  And the Trues look great on you, are they Camerons or Brianas or the newer Audrey?

  • Caro in Oz replied 9 years ago

A big yes from me - the bag is gorgeous.

  • Transcona Shannon replied 9 years ago

Denise - these are the Brianas.

    Caro - :)

  • krishnidoux replied 9 years ago

I do love this look so much on you! And how well are you wearing it! Citron bag is just the perfect touch. Very inspiring.

  • Aida replied 9 years ago

Lovely Shannon! Totally adore those gray boots, a short to mid-calf gray boot is on my list but they can be sooo hard to find. Also quite like the easy vibe that leaving this fluid sweater untucked gives.

  • MsMaven replied 9 years ago

Perfection. (Can't say more than that except this is a look I want to copy.)

  • Deborah replied 9 years ago

This outfit works beautifully:)  I like the  top untucked and the extra height the heels give you balance it all out perfectly.

  • Karie replied 9 years ago

Untucked is definitely the way to go. This looks like the perfect combination of dressy and casual. That citron bag is gorgeous!

  • Firecracker (Sharan) replied 9 years ago

I really like it! The top looks terrific untucked; you long long and lean to me. The citron bag is a genius touch of color. I've been thinking about white jeans lately, too. I really thought I'd wear mine this winter, but haven't touched them.

  • Elizabeth P replied 9 years ago

Well, you got me at animal print, white and citron... :)

I will be copying this some day. Black and white animal print top has been in my wish list for some time. So many of the ones I've found are too creamy or beigy for me.

  • dakotacheryl replied 9 years ago

Totally fabulous outfit, top to bottom...bet you had a great day!!

I have a new citron bag just waiting to be let out of the closet...sadly, it is -5F here right now, and the bag just doesn't go with my parka LOL...

  • approprio replied 9 years ago

Brilliant! I particularly like the animal print with the mock-croc on the bag. *applause*
