WIW: Animal Print & Citron

Today's outfit started with a recently purchased cream/toffee/black animal print pencil skirt. I wanted an animal print skirt to replace the previous one I had with the white background and searched high and low for one with some white or cream in it to lighten the print. When I found this one at Cleo Petite (and on deep discount for $14.99!) I snapped it up.

My outfit started with the animal print skirt to which I added semi-opaque tights for warmth. I then added my drapey hi-lo chiffon cross over tank and topped that with my leather blazer.

For footwear, I chose my patent booties and for a change, added a mixed metal necklace for a pop of sparkle near my face.

Grabbed my citron handbag for a bright pop of colour - love how this colour plays with the animal print. Red specs, red lips, and annoying hair tucked behind my ears and I'm ready to go.

Thoughts and comments welcome :)

Jacket & tank: Danier Leather
Skirt: Cleo Petite
Tights: Hue
Booties: Ara
Handbag: Sergio Ferretti

P.S. I have a crazy busy day today so will pop back when I can :)

I think this works really well, Shannon. What a lovely skirt! The attention grabber is the citron bag, and it deserves a main role because it is super fab. If I should change anything at all, I'd consider finding something light nearer your face to bookend the light in the pattern a bit. Otherwise I think it looks great as is.

Great outfit - to my eye the skirt looks more like an abstract print - gorgeous. I just adore how you always accent with just the right purse. As someone who is to lazy to do this I admire it immensely.

Agree that the bag is the perfect thing here. The jacket is amazing too!

Love the pop of citron with the blacks and  animals here. Also, your face is so radiant! You wear that red lips with such panache, Shannon!

Alright, citron is now officially THE colour to have. Who knew it would work with absolutely everything you own?  I really love this outfit.  Re: your hair. You even look annoyed - cut it already :)

Awesome!  Love the skirt... seems like it knows that a cognac accent is "in" in fabland :)

I'm happy that citron goes with so much, and that it's THE colour.  My bag should be delivered today :) :)

And... just out of curiousity, do you track your wears?  I know you now have a small wardrobe, and I certainly see repeats.  But you never seem to be wearing the same thing TOO frequently, and you have a ton of varity in the outfits you mix and match.  To me this means that you've probably got the number just about right.  And the frequency of wearing.  Love a post on this aspect of your wardrobe if it's something to do pay attention to.

Ingunn - thank you for your suggestion. I think next time I will try the outfit with a white top.

Lisa - would love to get it cut already but my stylist is booked solid. I actually called last week and am on her cancellation list should something come up sooner than my February 11th appointment.

Elizabeth - I don't actually track the number of wears - too lazy :) I am curious myself though on wardrobe numbers such as how many jackets, how many tops, etc. I am starting to think I may have the right sized wardrobe for me.

Thanks for the feedback and comments ladies :)

That bag is the BOMB, as Modgrl would say!! :) Love how it works with everything. I think I really need to investigate this colour; it reminds me of how often I used that yellow bag a few years ago. Hmmm.

I also love your new skirt. Did it replace the Sears one? I loved that skirt....was it worn out? You wore it a lot.

And of course any outfit that includes "our" jacket is perfection in my books. Love!

    That bag is stunning!

So sleek and lovely, Shannon!  Love the shape of the jacket on you -- it's very flattering, and I like the way the animal print almost looks floral like from a distance.

I'm at home working in my jams --- your outfit makes me actually want to go get dressed!

    The tucked hair looks great.

This is a Shannon-Classic. I like the tonal high-low hem peeking out from under the black moto. And the patent provides an effective textural touch.

You could wear a black paper sack with those specs and I would love it. xo

Lovely!  Never underestimate the power of a pop of colour.

Citron is a neutral for me! Love it all. :)

Your red lips, specs, and bright citron bag really spark off the whole outfit. Fabulous!!!

Oh my goodness...love this skirt!  Great outfit :)

As Angie says, this looks like a wonderful Shannon classic. That skirt is bound to become a favorite.

Another fab outfit TS!  You rock animal print and leather!  And you have a killer smile!!!!!

  • Thistle replied 9 years ago

Super fab. I absolutely love it, and the citron bag is the crowing touch.

  • replied 9 years ago

That bag is definitely a showstopper, so is your smile though! Fab outfit.

Yep - hubby NAILED IT when he chose this handbag for me. I absolutely love it.

Suz - yes, this replaces the Sears skirt which ended up having an unfortunate incident with a Very Berry smoothie :(

Angie - only if the black paper sack comes in petite - lol!

Joy - I've already got about a half dozen ideas on how to wear this skirt.

Thank you for your lovely comments everyone. Every once in a while I show hubby the handbag compliments and he just grins :)
