WIW: An old favourite with a new silhouette

I have had this Nygard silk-blend cardigan for probably close to 5 years. It was a favourite of mine that I wore a ton - I love the soft drape, the purples and yellow in the abstract pattern, and the overall fit. But I haven't worn it much in the last 1-2 years and wasn't sure if it still deserved a place in my wardrobe. When I popped it on in this combination, I fell in love with it again - it's staying!

I popped the cardigan over top of a dark purple tank, tucked into my L&T black slouchy trousers, and then added a simple black leather belt with a gunmetal buckle. Somehow adding this old cardigan to the new silhouette of the slouchy trousers made it feel modern again. The cardigan is almost slouchy in its own right with its soft drape and I like the combination.

Jewelry is my silver wedding band and my newly thrifted black and silver watch. Truth be told, this is a men's watch and probably a little too large for my wrist, but I don't care - lol! Footwear is my black wedge booties and my handbag is my black/cream leather one.

I'm really happy in this combination and enjoying trying some of my older beloved items in new ways.

What do you think? Does this cardigan have some life in it yet? As always, all comments/suggestions welcome.

Cardigan: Nygard
Tank: Gap
Trousers: Lord & Taylor
Booties: Blow Fish
Handbag: Danier Leather (thrifted)
Watch: Calvin Klein (thrifted)

That cardi looks so rich -- I love it when you wore it as a top last time, and I think it works very well here too!

It most definitely has! The colors are beautiful on you, and the silhouette looks more than modern enough to my eye. Love this outfit, Shannon! I particularly like the neckline with the top under. It is a bit hard to see the colors and pattern in the cardigan in the photos, but it looks really interesting with the lights and darks. I also like the light stripe on your bag that picks up the lightness in the sweater.

Yes, definitely keep and wear it! I really like the look here, it works great with the items you paired it with. My current watch is a men's watch too, but I changed the too big black leather band for a different one.

I love it too. It is always such an unexpected treat when you rediscover a lost love :)

Purple is such a great color on you, I can see why you have refound this cardigan. I love the trousers and boots combination, and I love a large men's watch too!

Simple and lovely. I can see why you hold onto that cardigan.

Oh my...only in your closet or Mary K's would the LINING of your booties match your sweater!!!

Super cozy, pretty outfit, Shannon. You are a feast for the eyes every day.

I think you look great and the cardigan still looks very current. The colors and pattern on the sweater look good with the solid purple and black items.

I love the abstract floral of the cardigan and it looks fantastic paired with the modern outfit. I've held on to quite a few of my cardigans even though they haven't received much wear as of late. But with the right outfit they can definitely be the crowning touch.

Ha ha ha Suz - you noticed that, did you? Honestly, it was not intentional that the inside of my boots would match the outfit.

Glad the cardigan isn't deemed out of date - thanks for the feedback.

What a great Winter floral, Queen Floral! You look "Pretty Tomboy", and I'm glad that you fell in love with that cardigan all over again.

This cardigan looks more jacket-y than cardigan-y to me, it seems to have some structure. Great look in any case and I actually like the look of big man's watch on lady's wrist (trying to steal hubby's on weekends at least).

Ah, those slouchy pants even make a classic cardi look edgy and tomboyish!

Purple is your color! I love the print on the cardigan. This silhouette really works for you. I can't get past the print I love how it lifts the whole outfit. Beautiful, simply beautiful.

Falling in love again with an old garment? How appropriate near Valentine's Day!

The sweater (and slouchies) are lovely. This would look great with skirts too, and I'm sure goes well with lighter colors for a spring look.

    You look beautiful, Shannon!

"Pretty Tomboy" - love it Angie!

So I guess I'll fold this cardigan up and put it back on the shelf!

That's a cool floral! I love reviving an old friend from the forgotten closet places. Great job - your skills have improved tenfold grasshopper.

What pretty colors in that cardigan! I love how you brought it back to life. Taking notes on what to to with my neglected cardis.
